  • Slovenian speech recogniser based on grapheme units
    Žgank, Andrej
Standard speech recognisers are usually based on phonemes that represent separate acoustic-phonetic units. Slovenian language is an inflectional language. It is often the case that words are missing ... in phonetic vocabulary when the recognition topic is changed. This effect increases the number of newwords with unseen triphones. New words in phonetic vocabulary should be converted with grapheme to phoneme conversion, which is in Slovenian language a non-trivial task. Taking this in account, it is reasonable to introduce a grapheme based speech recogniser. The proposed grapheme based system is compared with standard approach based on phonemes. All tests we re performed on Slovenian 1000 FDB SpeechDat(II) database using the monolingual MASPER setup...
