This thesis examines the most common grammatical and spelling errors when translating from Slovene into German. The corpus consists of 120 translations by students in the third year of the bachelor's ...program in interlingual communication and in the first and second years of the master's program in translation. The thesis includes errors that occurred in a particular category at least twenty times. The purpose of the thesis is to show which grammatical and spelling errors are most common when translating from Slovene into German, and to offer explanations and correct answers. My hypothesis predicted that students would have the most difficulties in grammatical categories absent in one of the languages (e.g., there is no article in Slovene), in grammatical categories with differences between the two language systems (e.g., case government and grammatical gender in German), and in spelling (e.g., the use of capital letters and hyphens in German). The results of the analysis show that the most errors were made in the use of articles and case government, which partly confirms my hypothesis.
