Reliability of curved timber beam exposed to natural fire [Elektronski vir]

The appearance of natural fires in buildings and related damages to structure have always presented uncertain phenomena. Therefore, the failure of the structure exposed to natural fire cannot be ...predicted with certainty. In this paper the use of reliability analysis to assess the failure probability of curved glulam beam is presented. Thermal and mechanical analyses are performed with finite element method. Failure probability is determined by the Monte Carlo technique, where variance reductions method, i.e. Latin hypercube sampling, is used. At the end the results of the reliability analysis with the natural fire considered are compared with the results with ISO fire curve considered in analysis.
