Repair welding of tools is demanding. TIG welding and laser welding are widely used for the refurbishment. Care must be taken during welding of highly polished surfaces on the tools for plastic ...injection moulding. Different cooling condition during welding exhibit different hardness's. This results in the waviness of the final polished surface. Surface imperfections reflect on the surface of the moulded part. This paper presents the effect of different welding parameters on the properties of the polished surfaces, and optimal welding parameters leading to the minimum surface waviness.
