Odor release fabrics with MCT-▫$/beta$▫-cyclodextrin [Elektronski vir]

New areas of applications of cyclodextrins with textiles are possible. The ability of cyclodextrins to form inclusion complexes can be used, e.g., to remove malodor from textile materials. The ...permanent fixation of cyclodextrins offers new textiles with interesting properties. Thus the formation of body odor is reduced by the forming of inclusion complex with the organic compounds of sweat. Cyclodextrins and their derivatives are suitable for a wide variety of uses. The favorable CD properties like odor masking and slow release of guest compounds can be transferred to different substrates by a finishing process. In this study, application pH (basic and acidic) and curing temperature (150°C and 170°C) on the curing efficiency of MCT-▫$/beta$▫-CD on cotton fabrics was investigated. The results were tested gravimetrically and also with phenolphthalein. According to the results, it was observed that, optimum results can be obtained by padding method at alkali pH at 150°C. After these studies, essence application was realized and odor release performances of MCT-▫$/beta$▫-CD applied and un-treated fabrics were compared subjectively.
