    In this report an efficient compressing for single look complex SAR data, based on wavelet transform, is presented. The wavelet transform based subbans coding is used. Wavelet transform is realised ... as pyramid and pocket signal decomposition. Symmetric and periodic extensions are researched. Different filter banks are tested and the best ones are chosen for proposed compressing method. Uniform and optimal bit allocation is researched and former was shown as more convinient. The zero-run-lengh / recency-rank loss-less coding scheme was used. Beside standard image quality measures the Resolution, Peak Sidelobe and Fuzzy Control of SAR image quality were implemented. For all used methods the IDL program routines werel developed. The proposed wavelet based compressing methods gave better compression performances than JPEG and Multilook.
