  • Experience with model and field testing of cavitation of low head Kaplan turbines [Elektronski vir]

    A series of tests were performed on prototype Kaplan turbine and it`s homologous model. Main goal was to research and compare some cavitation detection techniques. High frequency transducers were ... used in the process of detecting these signals. They were placed on the same locations on the prototype and on model. Operating conditions from prototype were repeated at model test rig. Different analysing procedures were applied to acquired data samples, ranging from time domain, frequency domain, to some recently developed joint time-frequency domain methods. Results show that joint-time frequency analysis (wavelet analysis) is very useful in detecting signal nature and it`s local frequency content. Processed signal values from prototype operation increase from cavitation free flow, up to 20 dB at full load, where developed cavitation structures are visible on model.
