Soft soil fundations must be strengthened by piles. The problem is always local, so in-situ measurements are necessary. The construction company can only guess the quality of supprting piles. The ...Laboratory for Electric Measurements of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Maribor and The Faculty of Civil Engineering in Maribor have developed a special system for measuring the load bearing capacity of piles. Stains in the pile and the vertical displacements of the pile were measured to the depyh of 15 m during the load test. The measurements yielded the upper load limit of the pile and the behaviour of the pile during the test.
