    The article is an overview of the treatment of Parkinson's disease with levodopa and an inhibitor of its degradation simultaneously with an adjunct drug, entacapone. Entacapone is used in patients ... who cannot be stabilised on the above combination. The time of ON period is prolonged and the OFF period is shortened. The drug is safe, no undesirable effects on the liver have been reported so far. The consequent reduction in levodopa dosage may reduce the undesirable effects. Entacapone as an adjunct significantly improves the efficacy of treatment.
