    Despite the advances made since the introduction of ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, a wide discrepancy may occur between preoperative and peroperative staging of ... pancreatic malignancy. Diagnostic laparoscopy performed immediatly before planned laparotomy can provide valuable information for the accurate assessment and appropriate management. It is now technically possible to perform ultrasonography through a laparoscopc cannula using high-resolution ultrasonographic transducers. Thiscombination of laparoscopy and ultrasonography can give us additional information about liver and peritoneal metastases as well as about the size ofthe tumor and its infiltration growth into adjacent structures. The laparoscopic technique is useful to perform palliative procedures in patients with unresectable pancreatic tumors. The diagnostic laparoscopy, laparoscopic ultrasound and laparoscopic surgical technique are useful diagnostic and surgical methods, which are very useful in diagnosis, staging and palliation of pancreatic cancer.
