The article discusses the problem of longer sickness absenteeism regarding thenumber of lost working days and financial expense of the Health Insurance Institute. It stresses that the assessment of ... working ability requires a correct interpretation of the employee's health status, as well as of the demands and risks of the job. Suggestions are given on how to solve this problem successfully via the cooperation of general practitioners and supervisors from the Health Insurance Institute.
