Quartz is one of the most common minerals on the Earth one of the most popularand useful ornamental stones. Colours of crystalline quartz are complexs and mostly due to the impurities of colouring ... ions or structural defects. Colour of the cryptocrystaline quartz varieties is mostly due to the mineral inclusions.Cryptocrystalline quartz from different localities in Slovenia was investigated. The samples differed in a great diversity of colours. Mineral inclusions were determined using a optical microscopy as wellas the power X-ray differaction. Furthermore, the inclusion wereattributedto the colour of the cryptocrystalline samples. Mineral inclusions such as: hematite, magnetite, maghemite, akaganeite, pirochroite were determined. Cryptocrystalline quartz was also cut and polished in order to prove its use as an ornamental stone.
