Elektrognatografska analiza žvečenja = Electrognathographic analysis of chewing

At the Centre for Fixed Prosthetics of University medical Centre and Ljubljana faculty of Medicine a new software programme COSIG II for the chewing analysis was developed. It is an upgrade of an ...existing electrognathographic system COSIG. The new software enables us to present chewing cycles in the time sweep mode and in the phase mode. Chewing cycles could be analysed according to their shapes (distances, angles, surfaces) and by their dynamics (frequency, time of opening and closure, maximal and average speed of mandibular movements, acceleration of movements, time of occlusal contacts...). The chewing analysis of two patients done by COSIG II was presented in this paper and 16 parameters of chewing were analysed. A chewing of a young man with normal and healthy stomatognathic system having a physiological chewing was compared with a chewing patterns of a patient after surgical treatment of cleft lip and palate and later after prosthetic treatment with couns crowns removable denture. Patients subjective impressions of wellbeing after prosthetic treatment was confirmed by the results of an objective measurements of mandibular movements.
