    Background. The overall progress increases the need of human society for prolonging human life and preventing it from being threatened. The measures, which the society takes for this purpose, require ... money to invest. When deciding about how much money should be given to prevent premature death or morbidity, one cannot avoid evaluation of human life in money terms. Methods. Several approaches for the economic evaluation of human life have been developed in the world. These approaches evaluate human life directly or indirectly. The purpose of the article is to present to the reading public thefour main approaches of the economic evaluation of human life: the human capital approach, the public behaiour approach, the insurance approach and thewillingness-to-pay approach. Conclusions. The approaches for the economic evaluation of human life enable us to find out that a human life has also an economic value. By investing money in safety and quality of life a lot of aboidable morbidity, mortality or life threats could be prevented.
