High-performance and tensile-strained germanium （Ge） p-i-n photodetector is demonstrated on Si substrate. The epi- taxial Ge layers were prepared in an ultrahigh vacuum chemical vapor deposition ...（UHV-CVD） system using low tem- perature Ge buffer technique. The devices were fabricated by in situ doping and using Si as passivation layer between Ge and metal, which can improve the ohmic contact and realize the high doping. The results show that the dark current of the photodetector with diameter of 24 lain is about 2.5 × 10.7 μA at the bias voltage of-1 V, and the optical responsivity is 0.1 A/W at wavelength of 1.55 μm. The 3 dB bandwidth （BW） of 4 GHz is obtained for the photodetector with diameter of 24 μm at reverse bias voltage of 1 V. The long diffusion time of minority carrier in n-type Ge and the large contact resistance in metal/Ge contacts both affect the performance of Ge photodetectors.

The p and s-polarized surface plasmon polaritons （SPPs） of symmetric and asymmetric slabs formed arbitrarily by four types of conventional materials： dielectrics, negative dielectric permittivity ...materials, negative magnetic permeability materials, and left-handed materials are comprehensively analysed. The existence regions, dispersion relations, and excitation of SPPs in different frequency regions are investigated in detail. For symmetric slabs, the numbers and the frequency positions of surface polariton branches are quite different. At the same time, the pairs of the p or s-polarized SPP branches occur in the same frequency range. For asymmetric slabs, the SPP branches in mid- and high-frequency ranges are greatly different. In addition, the slab thickness has a great effect on SPPs of asymmetric and symmetric slabs. The attenuated total reflection spectra for the cases of p and s polarizations in these slabs are also calculated.
Superconducting qubits are Josephson junction-based circuits that exhibit macroscopic quantum behavior and can be manipulated as artificial atoms. Benefiting from the well-developed technology of ...microfabrication and microwave engineering, superconducting qubits have great advantages in design flexibility, controllability, and scalability. Over the past decade, there has been rapid progress in the field, which greatly improved our understanding of qubit decoherence and circuit optimization. The single-qubit coherence time has been steadily raised to the order of 10 to 100 p.s, allowing for the demonstration of high-fidelity gate operations and measurement-based feedback control. Here we review recent progress in the coherence and readout of superconducting qubits.
A comparative study on the vertical distributions of aerosol optical properties during haze and floating dust weather in Shanghai was conducted based on the data obtained from a micro pulse ...lidar.There was a distinct difference in layer thickness and extinction coefficient under the two types of weather conditions.Aerosols were concentrated below 1 km and the aerosol extinction coefficients ranged from 0.25 to 1.50km~（-1） on haze days.In contrast,aerosols with smaller extinction coefficients（0.20 0.35 km~（-1）） accumulated mainly from the surface to 2 km on floating dust days.The seasonal variations of extinction and aerosol optical depth（AOD） for both haze and floating dust cases were similar greatest in winter,smaller in spring,and smallest in autumn.More than 85%of the aerosols appeared in the atmosphere below 1 km during severe haze and floating dust weather.The diurnal variation of the extinction coefficient of haze exhibited a bimodal shape with two peaks in the morning or at noon,and at nightfall,respectively.The aerosol extinction coefficient gradually increased throughout the day during floating dust weather.Case studies showed that haze aerosols were generated from the surface and then lifted up,but floating dust aerosols were transported vertically from higher altitude to the surface.The AOD during floating dust weather was higher than that during haze.The boundary layer was more stable during haze than during floating dust weather.
