Chemical-looping steam methane reforming （CL-SMR） is a novel process towards the production of pure hydrogen and syngas, consisting ofa syngas production reaction and a hydrogen production reaction. ...Macroporous CeQ-ZrO2 oxygen carders with different pore sizes prepared by colloidal crystal templating method and characterized by techniques of scalming electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller （BET）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and temperature pro- grammed reduction （H2-TPR） were tested in CL-SMR process. For comparison, nonporous CeO2-ZrO2 oxygen carrier prepared by precipitation method was also investigated. It was found that macroporous CeO2-ZrO2 oxygen carriers owned higher reducibility and reactivity in CL-SMR process than nonporous samples. For the macroporous CeO2-ZrO2 sample, the decline of pore size could im- prove the reducibility and reactivity. The macroporous sample with a pore size of 100 nm （labeled as Ce-Zr-100） showed the highest performance for the co-production of syngas and hydrogen during the successive CL-SMR redox cycles. After 10 redox cycles, it still retained good porous structure and reducibility. It was found that the porous structure could accelerate the oxygen release from bulk to surface, leading to a good mobility of oxygen and higher reducibility. In addition, it was also favorable for diffusion and penetration of methane and water steam into the sample particles to accelerate the reaction rate.

In this study,we integrated a DNA barcoding project with an ecological survey on intertidal polychaete communities and investigated the utility of CO1 gene sequence as a DNA barcode for the ...classification of the intertidal polychaetes.Using 16S rDNA as a complementary marker and combining morphological and ecological characterization,some of dominant and common polychaete species from Chinese coasts were assessed for their taxonomic status.We obtained 22 haplotype gene sequences of 13 taxa,including 10 CO1 sequences and 12 16S rDNA sequences.Based on intra-and inter-specific distances,we built phylogenetic trees using the neighbor-joining method.Our study suggested that the mitochondrial CO1 gene was a valid DNA barcoding marker for species identification in polychaetes,but other genes,such as 16S rDNA,could be used as a complementary genetic marker.For more accurate species identification and effective testing of species hypothesis,DNA barcoding should be incorporated with morphological,ecological,biogeographical,and phylogenetic information.The application of DNA barcoding and molecular identification in the ecological survey on the intertidal polychaete communities demonstrated the feasibility of integrating DNA taxonomy and ecology.
The phase transformation activation energy of the Cu61.13Zn33.94A14.93 alloys, which were treated at 4 GPa and 700 ℃ for 15 minutes, was calculated by means of differential scanning calorimetry ...curves obtained at various heating and cooling rates. Then, the effects of high-pressure heat treatments on the solid-state phase transformation and the microstructures of Cu61.13Zn33.94A14.93 alloys were investigated. The results show that high-pressure heat treatments can refine the grains and can change the preferred orientation from （111） to （200） of α phase. Compared with the as-cast alloy, the sample with high-pressure heat treatment has finer grains, lower β＇→β and/β→β＇ transformation temperature and activation energy. Furthermore, we found that high cooling rate favours the formation of fine needle-like α phase in the range of 5-20℃/min.
In order to investigate the efficiency of a new quantitative head-band formed ocular compressor to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP), ocular compression by this new reducer with 40 mmHg for 10 min ...was performed on 87 cataractous eyes of 78 cases. The changes of IOP (87 eyes) and anterior chamber depth (ACD) were observed. There was a significant decrease of IOP and increase of ACD within 30 min after decompression (P＜0. 001). The mean decrease of IOP was 5.62±2.41mmHg and the mean increase of ACD was 0. 18±0. 09 mm within 5 min after decompression. The IOP 5 min after decompression had no significant difference with that 10 min after decompression (P ＞0. 05). IOP below 10 mmHg could last for about 15 min. This apparatus had been successfully applied to 80 eyes for extracapsular cataract extraction. It was suggested that this device had the advantages of safety, accurate quantification, reliable effect, casually adjusting pressure according to various demands and time-saving.
The killing effects of lymphocytes on Hela cells expressing interleukin-12 （IL-12） in vitro were explored. By using gene transfection technique, full length IL-12 gene was transfected into Hela ...cells. The expression of IL-12 in Hela cells was detected quantitatively by ELISA; Changes in killing effects of lymphocytes on Hela cells expressing IL-12 were observed by MTT. It was found that Hela cells could express IL- 12 between 24 h and 72 h after transfection. Killing activity of lymphocytes on Hela cells expressing IL-12 was significantly enhanced. It was concluded by cell transfection technique, Hela cells could express 1L-12 and were more easily killed by lymphocytes.
Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae (RSM), a well-known traditional Chinese medicinal herb, has been used to improve blood circulation and resolve blood stasis. We have previously found that RSM has ...neuroprotective effect on ischemia and/or ischemia-reperfusion rats. The purpose of this study was to obtain further information on the mechanism of the RSM-induced neuroprotection and to examine the neuroprotective effect on neurons exposed to anoxia. The effect of RSM on anoxic damage in cultured hippocampal neurons of neonatal rat was investigated by using morphological changes and heat shock protein 70 kD (HSP70) expression as indicators. RSM given 0.5 h before 2 h-anoxia followed by 48 hours reoxygenation could significantly increase survival rate of hippocampal neurons and number of HSP70 positive cells. The results suggest that RSM has a direct neuroprotective effects on anoxic damage in hippocampal neurons.
In order to construct a recombinant plasmid containing short hairpin RNA （shRNA） targeting survivin and to investigate its effect on survivin expression and cell apoptosis of human retinoblastoma ...cell line Hxo-rb44 in vitro, RNA interference plasmid pSIRENS that can express shRNA of survivin was designed, constructed, and transfected into human retinoblastoma cell line Hxo-rb44, Survivin and c-Myc expression was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR） and Western blot. Apoptosis of Hxo-rb44 cells was assayed by Honchest33258 staining and cell growth curve was drawn. The results showed that the oligonucleotide targeting survivin was identified in pSIRENS plasmid. After pSIRENS plasmid transfected, survivin and c-Myc expression in Hxo-rb44 cells was decreased significantly. Apoptotic rate of cells was up-regulated from （3.5±1.29） % to （36.1±19.66） %. The proliferation ability of Hxo-rb44 cells was inhibited. No significant effects on survivin expression and apoptosis of the cells were found when negative control plasmid was transfected. In conclusion, the plasmid containing shRNA targeting survivin was constructed successfully. It could inhibit efficiently the expression of survivin and c-Myc in human retinoblastoma cell Hxo-rb44 in vitro. The inhibition of the expression of c-Myc might be involved in the apoptosis of Hxo-rb44 cells.
