Background: The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program that is being implemented in Korea is difficult to investigate because it is not a standardized protocol with a unified content, and it ...instead differs according to the details for each hospital. Herein, the author would like to introduce and analyze the results of a recently conducted large-scale survey on the current status and perception of the ERAS program in Korea among large domestic hospitals.
Current Concepts: Surveys of domestic general surgeons in 2019 and hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgeons in 2020 both showed lower-than-expected response rates of less than 50% in questions related to perception and clinical implementation of the ERAS program. Thus, implementation of ERAS items related to the limited application of preoperative fasting and surgical drain insertion and active nutritional support before and after surgery remains low.
Discussion and Conclusion: For surgeons in Korea, the implementation of ERAS programs and perception levels were low. In this regard, it is necessary to improve awareness through systematic education and promotion of the ERAS program, and supplementation of related multidisciplinary professional manpower and financial resources is essential to facilitate practical implementation of ERAS programs in clinical practice. This study presents the primary outcomes of the neurological and emotional responses to inhalation and foot baths using the clary sage aroma. Clary sage inhalation produced varying effects on EEG ...(electroencephalography) depending on the concentration used, inactivating and waves while activating waves, γ waves, RSMR, SEF50 and SEF90. Inhalation is more effective at enhancing individual performance and focus than promoting relaxation. The clary sage foot bath activated waves and RSMR, while inactivating waves, γ waves, SEF50, and SEF90. The foot bath approach has a calming impact on the mind and body, as well as reducing arousal and stress. While the advantages of clary sage inhalation and foot bath therapy are distinct, both involve the activation of RSMR, which enhances focus at work and aids in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. Although the emotional features of clary sage oil vary according to the dose used for inhalation, it was typically assessed as a feminine and refreshing aroma, and the clary sage foot bath was evaluated as a pleasant, invigorating, refreshing, feminine, soft, and calming fragrance. When clary sage was used in the foot bath therapy, it evoked a stronger emotional response than when it was inhaled. These findings suggest that a clary sage foot bath can be used to enhance work-related focus while also relaxing the body by activating waves and inactivating SEF50 and SEF90. KCI Citation Count: 0

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the impact of nursing organizational culture and nursing practice environment on generational conflict in organization among hospital nurses. Methods: This study utilized a cross-sectional design. The participants consisted of 214 nurses working at two tertiary general hospitals, which were located in B city. Data were collected from January 15 to January 31, 2022, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis using IBM/SPSS 28.0 for Windows. Results: The mean generational conflict in organization was 2.60±0.74 points on a 5-point scale. Multiple regression indicated that the factors influencing generational conflict in organization included relation-oriented nursing organizational culture (β=-.29, p<.001), hierarch-oriented nursing organizational culture (β=.17, p=.006) and clinical career, and these variables explained 23.0% of generational conflict in organization. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that it is necessary to improve relation-oriented nursing organizational culture and avoid hierarch-oriented nursing organizational culture to decrease generational conflict in organization. Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has threatened public health. Medical imaging tools such as chest X-ray and computed tomography (CT) play an essential role in the global ...fight against COVID-19.
Recently emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies further strengthen the power of imaging tools and help medical professionals. We reviewed the current progress in the development of AI technologies for the diagnostic imaging of COVID-19.
Current Concepts: The rapid development of AI, including deep learning, has led to the development of technologies that may assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, prediction of disease risk and prognosis, health index monitoring, and drug development. In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, AI can improve work efficiency through accurate delineation of infections on chest X-ray and CT images, differentiation of COVID-19 from other diseases, and facilitation of subsequent disease quantification. Moreover, computer-aided platforms help radiologists make clinical decisions for disease diagnosis, tracking, and prognosis.
Discussion and Conclusion: We reviewed the current progress in AI technology for chest imaging for COVID-19.
However, it is necessary to combine clinical experts’ observations, medical image data, and clinical and laboratory findings for reliable and efficient diagnosis and management of COVID-19. Future AI research should focus on multimodality- based models and how to select the best model architecture for COVID-19 diagnosis and management. KCI Citation Count: 0
This study investigates where there is a difference in digital literacy according to the background characteristics of early childhood teachers. To this end, data from 208 teachers, kindergartens, ...and daycare centers in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province were analyzed, and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was conducted to determine the difference in digital literacy according to individuals’ background characteristics. The results revealed that the teacher group aged 31 to 35 years was high in all three sub-factors of digital literacy (Computer, Information, and Knowledge). Additionally, as per differences in terms of career, the teacher group with more than ten years of experience had a high level of computer and information literacy, while that with less than one year of experience demonstrated the highest degree of knowledge literacy. Lastly, there was no difference in digital literacy by the type of institution (whether a kindergarten or a daycare center). This study proposes customized digital literacy education and support measures for early childhood teachers for the future. KCI Citation Count: 0
