To explore the distribution and the resistance reaction of rice blast pathogens that may occur in North Korea, rice blast pathogens in the North Korean border regions of Dandong and Yeon-gil in China ...and the North Korean border region of Cheorwon in South Korea were analyzed. In addition, comparative analysis was conducted with rice blast pathogen in Suwon and Jeonju, inland regions of South Korea. Resistance reactions above average were observed in monogenic rice lines (IRBLzt-T, IRBL9-W, IRBL20-IR24, and IRBLta-CP1) in Jeonju, Suwon, and Cheorwon from 2018 to 2020. In Dandong and Yeon-gil, the monogenic lines IRBLz5-CA, IRBL12-M, and IRBL19-A consistently showed resistance reactions for three years. Notably, IRBL19-A exhibited strong resistance. Race distribution analysis in South Korea indicated a shift from KI to KJ dominance from 2018 to 2020, while in the North Korean border regions of Dandong and Yeon-gil, the KI race was dominant in 2021 and 2022. The race distribution of rice blast pathogens in China's North Korean border regions differed significantly from that in South Korea. 한국은 오랫동안 벼 도열병 방제 연구를 진행해왔고 다양한 방제 체계를 구축하고 있으나 벼 도열병은 지속적으로 변이가 이뤄지기 때문에 항상 벼 도열병에 대한 예찰과 방제를 위한 연구가 필요하다. 북한은 남한으로의 벼 도열병 원인균이 유입될 수 있는 주요 경로 중 하나임으로 북한에서 발생하는 벼 도열병의 균주 분포와 다양성 연구는 한국에서 발생할 수 있는 벼 도열병 방제 연구에 중요한 자료일 수밖에 없다. 2018년도 철원과 수원에서 분리한 균주는 KI와 KJ의 점유율이 유사한 수준이었으나 이후 진행된 연구 결과에서는 레이스 분포에 변화가 나타났다. 수원은 2018년 KI/KJ 레이스의 점유율이 유사했으나 2019년 2020년으로 갈수록 KJ레이스의 점유율이 높아졌고 전주의 경우 2019년 KJ/KI 레이스 점유율이 역전된 후 2020년까지 KJ 레이스의 점유율은 높게 유지되었다. 철원의 경우 2018년부터 2019년까지 KJ/KI 레이스 비율이 유사하였는데 2020년에는 거의 KJ 레이스만 분포하는 것을 발견하였다. 반면 고위도 지역인 중국 내 북한 접경지역인 단둥과 연길에서 분리한 도열병균의 레이스 분포를 비교 분석하면, 국내의 도열병 레이스 변화와 달리 2021년부터 2022년까지 중국의 북한 접경지역인 단둥과 연길에서는 KI 레이스가 우점이었다. 단인자 계통 저항성 검정 실험에서는 IRBL9-W, IRBLIR-24 계통이 국내와 고위도 북한 접경지역 모두 공통의 저항성원으로 분류되었다. 비록 남한 및 중국 내 북한 접경지역에서의 벼도열병균의 레이스 분석 연도의 차이가 있어 직접적인 비교는 어려우나 중국의 접경지역과 남한의 벼도열병균 레이스의 지역간 비교는 도열병 방제 체계 구축에 중요한 자료로 판단된다.

해충의 살충제에 대한 시간에 따른 독성 반응은 생물검정 방법에 따라 다를 수 있으므로 최적 관찰 시간을설정하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 벼멸구와 이미다클로프리드를 선정하여, 근권처리법, 줄기침지법 그리고 미량국소처리법에 대한 독성 반응을 관찰하였다. 해당 생물검정법을 수행 후 24시간 간격으로 7일 동안 사충율을 측정하고 반수치사농도(LC50)와 ...반수치사시간(LT50)을 산출하였다. 그 결과 반수치사농도(LC50)는 시간이 늘어남에 따라감소하는 경향을 나타내었고, 반수치사시간(LT50)은 농도가 증가함에 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 회귀 분석을 통해독성 반응 시간을 고려할 경우 3 종류의 생물검정법 중 미량국소처리법이 가능 빠른 독성을 나타내었고, 처리 농도(혹은 약량)를 고려할 경우 근권처리법이 저농도에서 가장 우수한 효과를 보였다. 최적 관찰 시간은 농도별 사충율의분산 차이가 가장 큰 구간을 고려하여 선정하였는데, 근권처리법과 줄기침지법에서는 4일차가 가장 큰 분산을 보여관찰 시기로 적합한 것으로 나타났고, 미량국소침지법은 처리 후 1일차가 적당한 관찰 일자인 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 감수성과 저항성 계통을 이용하여 관찰 시간 별 저항성 비를 비교하였다. 그 결과 최적 관찰 일자 값을 중심으로저항성 비가 2배 미만으로 일정하게 나타나 저항성 평가에도 중요한 정보를 제시하는 것으로 확인하였다. 결론적으로, 해충의 약제에 대한 반응은 생물검정 방법에 따라 다르게 나타나는데, 시간 별 사충율의 분산 차이는 합리적인최적 관찰 시점을 설정하는데 활용할 수 있을 것이다. It is important to establish the optimum observation time because the toxic response of insect pesticides may be different depending on the bioassay method over time. In this study, we observed the mortality of three different types of bioassay methods (root zone treatment, stem dipping, and topical application methods) by using Nilaparvata lugens and imidacloprid. The mortality was observed every 24 h for 7 days and we determined median lethal concentration (LC50) and median lethal time (LT50). As a result, LC50 and LT50 tended to decrease with increasing time and concentration, respectively. When considering the regression analysis LC50 vs. observation time and LT50 vs. concentration, the topical application and root zone treatment methods were effective to reduce the observation time and usage amount of imidacloprid, respectively. Appropriate observation time point for three bioassay methods was selected by the largest delta variance of mortalities of each concentration. The results were shown as the 4th day is appropriate for root zone treatment and stem dipping methods, and 1st day is acceptable for the topical application method. We compared the resistance ratios by optimum observation time using the imidacloprid resistance strain. The resistance ratio is constantly less than 2 times based on the optimum observation time, suggesting it is also helpful for the determination of resistance ratio. In conclusion, the response of pesticides was varied depending on the bioassay methods and the delta variance of the mortality would useful to establish the optimum observation time to each bioassay method for various insect pests. G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) belong to the cell membrane protein family, which regulate various physiological process such as reproduction, behavior and immune etc. In order to identify GPCRs ...in pheromone gland of Maruca vitrata, we carried out transcriptome analysis from virgin female adults. Fifty GPCR genes were identified such as pheromone biosynthesis activating neuropeptide receptor, prostaglandin receptors, neuropeptide receptor, 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor, galanin receptor, calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor, diuretic hormone receptor, gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor, frizzled and orphan receptor, etc. Expressions of the identified GPCRs were confirmed with semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Expressions of various GPCRs in the pheromone gland indicate the biological roles of pheromone gland may not be limited to the pheromone production.

In the diagnosis of lung cancer, the tumor size is measured by the longest diameter of the tumor in the entire slice of the CT. In order to accurately estimate the size of the tumor, it is better to ...measure the volume, but there are some limitations in calculating the volume in the clinic. In this study, we propose an algorithm to segment lung cancer by applying a custom loss function that combines focal loss and dice loss to a U-Net model that shows high performance in segmentation problems in chest CT images. The combination of values of the various parameters in custom loss function was compared to the results of the model learned. The purposed loss function showed F1 score of 88.77%, precision of 87.31%, recall of 90.30% and average precision of 0.827 at α=0.25, γ=4, β=0.7. The performance of the proposed custom loss function showed good performance in lung cancer segmentation.
The effects of insecticide and fungicide treatment were investigated to reduce mycotoxin contamination of corn (Zea mays L.) seeds. Deoxynivalenol and zearalenone contents were reduced in the treated ...seeds, but aflatoxin, ochratoxin A, fumonisin, and T-2 toxin were not effective by chemical treatments. The chemical treatment did not affect the growth of saprophyte, but inhibited the pathogenic fungi such as Fusarium verticillioides, F. graminearum and F. equiseti. Myotoxin contents at different harvesting time were compared. As the harvest time was delayed, both levels of deoxynivalenol and zearalenone and frequency of Fusarium spp. increased. However, the major nutrient contents of corn seeds were not affected by harvesting period. These results show that chemical treatments are necessary to reduce the fungal contamination of corn and harvest without delay is important as well. 살충제와 살균제 처리가 옥수수의 독소 오염을 경감시키는데 어떤 역할을 하는지 그 효과를 관찰하였다. 데옥시니발레논(DON)과 제랄레논(ZEN)은 약제처리시 높은 경감효과를 보였으나, 아플라톡신(AFT), 오크라톡신(OTA), 푸모니신(FUM)과 티-2(T-2 toxin)은 약제처리에 의한 효과가 없었다. 약제처리는 Fusarium verticillioides, F. graminearum, 그리고 F. equiseti 같은 병원성 곰팡이의 생장을 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. 옥수수 수확 시기에 따른 곰팡이 독소의 검출량을 비교하였는데, 수확시기가 늦어질수록 DON과 ZEN의 검출량이 증가하였고, Fusarium 속의 병원균 또한 높은 함량으로 검출되었다. 옥수수 종자의 주요 영양성분은 수확 시기에 따라 영향을 받지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 옥수수의 곰팡이 오염을 줄이기 위해, 살균제와 살충제의 약제처리가 필요하며 수확시기를 늦추지 않는 것이 중요하다는 것을 밝혀냈다.
Pheromone biosynthesis in the pheromone gland is stimulated by pheromone biosynthesis activating neuropeptide (PBAN) produced in the suboesophageal ganglion. PBAN binds its receptor and transduces ...biological signal into the molecules for the pheromone biosynthesis. To understand pheromone biosynthesis pathway in legume pod borer, Maruca vitrata, total RNA from the pheromone gland was isolated and transcriptome of the pheromone gland was obtained. Total read bases from the transcriptome were 12.03billionbp and 62,604 contigs were identified. A total of 191 contigs involved in the pheromone biosynthesis such as PBAN receptor, PBAN, fatty acid transport proteins, fatty acid synthases, fatty acid desaturases (FADs), fatty acyl-CoA reductases (FARs), alcohol oxidase/dehydrogenases (AOXs) and β-oxidation enzymes, were identified. Putative pheromone biosynthetic pathways for sex pheromone components in M. vitrata were proposed through transcriptomic analysis. Biosynthesis pathway for E10,E12-16:Ald and E10,E12-16:OH may initiate from C16:CoA with FAD2-like enzyme found in Manduca sexta, which converts the substrate into E10,E12-16:CoA. This intermediate is subsequently reduced by pheromone gland-specific FAR (pgFAR) which modifies end moiety with alcohol or by AOX which convert end moiety into aldehyde. The production of E10-16:Ald can be initiated from C16:CoA by ∆10 desaturase or from C18:CoA by ∆12 desaturase followed by with β-oxidation, and the intermediate can be reduced by pgFAR.
