Generally, most of the studies on life satisfaction have been conducted in populations outside the shores of Afrique Noire. Scholars interested in positive psychology have been studying in practical ...terms what it takes to attain subjective well-being. Subjective wellbeing in the form of happiness or life satisfaction may be referred to as combination of simple to complex perceptive judgment concerning satisfaction with life, characterized by the frequent experiencing of positive moods and emotion (Schimmack et al., 2004). Life satisfaction was explained using Veenhoven’s (1984) Quality of Life (QOL) Model; emotional Intelligence was discussed with the Model by Salovey. Based on the findings, the study has empirically demonstrated that health workers who perceived an increase sense of emotional intelligence and self-esteem showed higher tendency to demonstrate life satisfaction than their counterparts. The result of this study also showed that all the independent variables (emotional intelligence (?=0.189, p<0.01), and self-esteem (?=0.145, p<0.05) predicted life satisfaction. The researcher recommends that Ministry of Health in Nigeria should take adequate steps to inculcate life satisfying measure that directly increase the emotional and behavioural aspects of health workers’ life to increase the chances of developing and sustaining a viable health service delivery in Nigeria.
La qualité de la recherche scientifique s’évalue non seulement par son impact positif sur le développement socio-économique et le bien-être humain, mais également par sa contribution à l’élaboration ...des connaissances scientifiques valides et fiables. De ce fait, les chercheurs, quelle que soit leur discipline scientifique, sont censés adopter des pratiques de recherche basées sur la transparence et la rigueur. Or l’histoire des sciences et la littérature scientifique nous apprennent qu’une part importante des résultats scientifiques n’est pas reproductible de façon systématique (Ioannidis, 2005)1. Cela renvoie à ce qui est communément connu sous le nom de la « crise de réplication » qui concerne aussi bien les sciences de la nature que les sciences humaines et sociales, dont la psychologie ne fait pas exception. Dans cet article, nous présentons d’abord certains aspects de la crise de réplication et les pratiques de recherche douteuses. Puis, nous abordons la manière dont nous pouvons impliquer plus de laboratoires en Afrique dans la recherche scientifique mondiale, notamment le Psychological Science Accelerator (PSA). Dans ce sens, nous développerons un tutoriel pour les laboratoires en Afrique, en mettant en avant les pratiques de la science ouverte. Enfin, nous discutons de comment rendre la science psychologique plus participative et inclusive.

However, many academic systems rely on short-term employment contracts, biased selection procedures and ...misaligned incentives, which hinder research quality and progress. We discuss ways to redesign academic systems, emphasizing the role of permanent employment.
Scholars have been working through multiple avenues to address longstanding and entrenched patterns of global and racial exclusion in psychology and academia more generally. As part of the Society ...for Personality and Social Psychology's efforts to enhance inclusive excellence in its journals, the Anti Colorism/Eurocentrism in Methods and Practices (ACEMAP) task force worked to develop recommendations and resources to counteract racism and global exclusion in standard publication practices. In this paper, the task force describes a structure and process we developed for conducting committee work that centers marginalized perspectives while mitigating cultural taxation. We then describe our recommendations and openly accessible resources (e.g., resources for inclusive reviewing practices, writing about constraints on generalizability, drafting a globally inclusive demographic information survey, inclusive citation practices, and improving representation among editorial gatekeeping positions; recommendations and resource links are provided in Table 3). These recommendations and resources are both (a) tailored for a particular set of journals at a particular time and (b) useful as a foundation that can be continually adapted and improved for other journals and going forward. This paper provides concrete plans for readers looking to enhance inclusive excellence in their committee work, authorship, reviewing, and/or editing.
This study was designed to describe social values reflected in popular sayings among motorists in Nigeria. A total of one thousand, six hundred and fifty-one (1,654) inscriptions which are popular ...sayings printed on commercial vehicles in the six geo-political zones in Nigeria were analyzed for their value contents using value content analysis. The findings showed that a total of forty-nine (49) individual values types were extracted from the inscriptions. These individual value types were further articulated with a critical comparison with the Schwartz’ social value scale. Religion (36.5%), appreciation (5.3%), cautiousness (5.4%), hard work (3.1%), patience (3.0%), achievement (2.6%), love (2.5%), individuality (2.5%), truth (2.4%) predominated the values expressed by motorists in Nigeria. However, there were differences in the values expressed by motorists in the various geo-political zones. The findings were discussed in terms of the significance of religion and social stability in Nigeria.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Psychological Science Accelerator coordinated three large-scale psychological studies to examine the effects of loss-gain framing, cognitive reappraisals, ...and autonomy framing manipulations on behavioral intentions and affective measures. The data collected (April to October 2020) included specific measures for each experimental study, a general questionnaire examining health prevention behaviors and COVID-19 experience, geographical and cultural context characterization, and demographic information for each participant. Each participant started the study with the same general questions and then was randomized to complete either one longer experiment or two shorter experiments. Data were provided by 73,223 participants with varying completion rates. Participants completed the survey from 111 geopolitical regions in 44 unique languages/dialects. The anonymized dataset described here is provided in both raw and processed formats to facilitate re-use and further analyses. The dataset offers secondary analytic opportunities to explore coping, framing, and self-determination across a diverse, global sample obtained at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which can be merged with other time-sampled or geographic data.
