•The main results in the analyzed sectors are positive for rehabilitated workers.•Workers originally linked to industrial occupations obtained higher levels of hourly wages.•The dynamic effects show ...that there is a downward trend over time of hourly wages.•Changes in the level of education and type of occupation may explain the positive effect on wages.
This work investigates how occupational mobility, after a professional rehabilitation process, affects the hourly wages of workers who are inserted in the formal job market in the commerce, services and industry sectors of Brazil. For that purpose, a data panel was used with individual information from the Annual List of Social Information (Relação Anual de Informações Sociais- RAIS) for the period of 2007 to 2016. The methodology used was the Staggered Difference in Differences and dynamic treatment effects, through an event study design. The results show a positive effect of occupational mobility on hourly wages in the sectors analyzed, however, this effect is decreasing in the period after the professional change.

The biosynthesis of phenolic compounds might be influenced by environmental factors, such as solar radiation, temperature and relative air humidity, and production system. Some components of the ...production system, particularly the trellis system and rootstock, might change the phenolic composition of grapes due to microclimate of the cultivation region. In this study, the phenolic profile of ‘Chenin Blanc’ grapes was characterized with different trellis systems and rootstocks in two consecutive production cycles by using high-performance liquid chromatography under tropical semi-arid conditions. In the second production cycle (Jan-May/2016), accumulation of (-) - epicatechin gallate and (-) - epigallocatechin gallate was higher when vigorous rootstocks were trellised to the lyre system, whereas the lyre system associated to rootstock ‘SO4’ resulted in higher rutin accumulation in the same cycle. There was little influence of the factors studied on trans-resveratrol and piceatannol accumulation. However, a higher accumulation of piceatannol was observed in the second productive cycle compared to cis-resveratrol and trans-resveratrol. This study highlights that accumulation of phenolic compounds is influenced not only by environmental factors typical of the production year season, but also by the trellis system and rootstock adopted. The identification of phenolic compounds in the accumulation stimulated by the combination of trellis system, rootstock, and production season allows to differentiate grape quality and add value to products derived from such combination in a tropical semi-arid region.
This study aims to evaluate the effects and effectiveness of establishing legal employment quotas for people with disabilities (PwD) in Brazil for the years of 2007 and 2016. By estimating Regression ...Discontinuity Design (RDD) models, we verify that, in 2007, the Law of Quotas did not affect the employment of people with disabilities. However, in 2016, the effects are positive for firms that employ 100 to 500 workers. Regarding the effectiveness of the law, in 2016, the increase in the number of employed workers with disabilities is approximate to the required quota for firms with 100 to 200 employees.

The Green-Blue Municipality Program (GBMP) was implemented in 2008 by the government of São Paulo State, Brazil. This program has as main goal to improve the environmental quality through actions ...based on ecofriendly directives. This study evaluates the impact of GBMP certification on hospitalizations regarding air quality and cases of diseases due to contact with contaminated water in São Paulo State from 2007 to 2015. This analysis focuses on the effects of post-certification, then pre-certification effects are not identified, classifying this analysis as partial. The identification strategies used were Propensity Score Matching and Difference-in-Differences. Estimates suggest that no significant reduction in the cases of diseases related to polluted water and air quality is observed in municipalities that received the GBMP certificate in initial years.
Abstract: This study evaluates the effects of the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) in the labor market of poor families living in rural areas of Brazil. For the analysis, we used the Census (2010) and two methodologies: Balancing Entropy Quantílico and treatment effect (EQT), checking the average effect and throughout the distribution, respectively. To improve the balance between the treated group and control was applied CEM algorithm developed by Iacus, King, and Porro (2009). Thus, combined with the CEM balancing entropy to determine the Average Treatment Effect on Treaties (ATT). As a result, it was observed that in Brazil and regions, the working hours of the beneficiaries is lower than that of non-beneficiaries, as well as labor income. The effects on distribution, for most quantile the effect is null, however, in some quantile, beneficiaries have fewer working hours than non beneficiaries. Therefore, the results in the average indicated a possible "disincentive effect" of the program on the hours worked, causing a decrease in household income from work. On the other hand, the analysis by quantile can not say the same, as the results of the effects on hours worked were different.
