The body structure of a passenger vehicle is one of the important functional groups of a vehicle. A crashworthy car body structure is so conceptualised as to absorb considerable amount of the impact ...energy by deforming in definite areas, and thereby reduce the deceleration experienced by its passengers to survivable levels. The non-deforming areas of the car body structure are designed as stiff survivable space for the passengers. Using different material, structural and manufacturing concepts for constructing these car body components, various construction and design concepts have been developed over the years. This paper presents an overview of simplified constructional concepts of automotive body structures. This includes a brief historical background of an automotive body design concepts. The main concepts used in the present-day automotive industry relevant for our research work, are also presented.

The Asiatic wild dog or dhole was once very widely distributed across Asia but now has a very fragmented range. In this first genetic study of this little‐known species, we obtained information on ...genetic diversity, phylogeography, and social structure using both mitochondrial control region sequencing and microsatellite genotyping of noninvasive faecal samples from wild populations, as well as from museum and captive samples. A pattern largely consistent with isolation by distance across the Asian mainland was observed, with no clear subspecies distinctions. However, two major phylogeographical groupings were found across the mainland, one extending from South, Central, and North India (south of the Ganges) into Myanmar, and the other extending from India north of the Ganges into northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand and the Malaysian Peninsula. We propose a scenario involving glaciation events that could explain this pattern. The origin of the dhole populations in Sumatra and Java is enigmatic and requires further study. Very low levels of genetic diversity were observed among wild dholes from Baluran National Park in Java, Indonesia, but in contrast, high levels were observed in Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in South India.

We report a series of experiments conducted to investigate the effects of travel technique on information gathering and cognition in complex virtual environments. In the first experiment, ...participants completed a non-branching multilevel 3D maze at their own pace using either real walking or one of two virtual travel techniques. In the second experiment, we constructed a real-world maze with branching pathways and modeled an identical virtual environment. Participants explored either the real or virtual maze for a predetermined amount of time using real walking or a virtual travel technique. Our results across experiments suggest that for complex environments requiring a large number of turns, virtual travel is an acceptable substitute for real walking if the goal of the application involves learning or reasoning based on information presented in the virtual world. However, for applications that require fast, efficient navigation or travel that closely resembles real-world behavior, real walking has advantages over common joystick-based virtual travel techniques.
The pH-dependent interactions of five aqueous abrasive-free polycationic solutions, all at a concentration of 250 ppm, with poly-Si, SiO2, and Si3N4 films and IC1000 polishing pads used in chemical ...mechanical polishing have been investigated and compared with the interaction of poly(diallyldimethyl ammonium chloride) (PDADMAC) that was investigated recently. Three of the polycationic solutions, poly(dimethylamine-co-epichlorohydrin-co-ethylenediamine), poly(allylamine), and poly(ethylene imine) (PEI) enhance poly-Si removal rates (RRs) to the range of about 500 to 600 nm/min at pH 10. In contrast, poly(acrylamide) (PAA) suppressed poly-Si RRs to about 50 nm/min, whereas with a copolymer of PAA and PDADMAC, the RRs were lower than those obtained with PDADMAC but higher than those obtained with PAA. For all the polycationic solutions, the RRs of both SiO2, and Si3N4 films were ∼0 nm/min. These solutions offer a low-defect option for the processing of emerging FinFET devices. The variation in the RR magnitude and dependence on pH among the different polycations is related to the relative charge density of the polycations as well as the films being polished, consistent with ζ potential data. Based on the ζ potential data and earlier published reports, it is suggested that the strong polycation-mediated bridging interactions between the polarized and weakened Si–Si bonds of the poly-Si surface and the polyurethane IC 1000 pad are responsible for the high poly-Si RRs.

In this contribution, we propose a hybrid interaction technique that integrates near-field and object-space interaction techniques for manipulating objects at a distance in virtual reality (VR). The ...objective of the hybrid interaction technique was to seamlessly leverage the strengths of both the near-field and object-space manipulation techniques. We employed bimanual near-field metaphor with scaled replica (BMSR) as our near-field interaction technique, which enabled us to perform multilevel degrees-of-freedom (DoF) separation transformations, such as 1~3DoF translation, 1~3DoF uniform and anchored scaling, 1DoF and 3DoF rotation, and 6DoF simultaneous translation and rotation, with enhanced depth perception and fine motor control provided by near-field manipulation techniques. The object-space interaction technique we utilized was the classic Scaled HOMER, which is known to be effective and appropriate for coarse transformations in distant object manipulation. In a repeated measures within-subjects evaluation, we empirically evaluated the three interaction techniques for their accuracy, efficiency, and economy of movement in pick-and-place, docking, and tunneling tasks in VR. Our findings revealed that the near-field BMSR technique outperformed the object space Scaled HOMER technique in terms of accuracy and economy of movement, but the participants performed more slowly overall with BMSR. Additionally, our results revealed that the participants preferred to use the hybrid interaction technique, as it allowed them to switch and transition seamlessly between the constituent BMSR and Scaled HOMER interaction techniques, depending on the level of accuracy, precision and efficiency required.
Objective
To describe the development and implementation of a population-based screening programme for sickle cell disease (SCD) implemented in 12 SCD-endemic and tribal-dominated primary/community ...health centres (PHCs/CHCs) across six districts of India.
Setting
India reports a huge burden of SCD, especially among indigenous (tribal) communities. However, there is no state-led SCD programme in many places, and systematic screening is absent. This situation necessitates developing a model of population screening.
Methods
This programme was meant to screen all people and was carried out in three tiers. The first tier was a symptomatic survey carried out by community health workers. Regular health workers then screened those referred by sickle cell solubility test at sub-health centres as the second tier. The third tier was confirmation by haemoglobin electrophoresis at PHCs/CHCs. Communities were mobilised and prepared to accept the screening. Capacity building of health facilities was ensured through training and supply of equipment and material.
Results
Initial observation based on six months’ data revealed that out of the 110,754 tribal population of 12 PHCs/CHCs, 8418 (7.6%) were identified in the symptomatic survey. Subsequently, 9416 people, including the above 8418, underwent the solubility test, and 2607 (27.7%) were found to be positive. Of these, 1978 (78.9%) underwent electrophoresis. About 64.2% were found to be positive for sickle haemoglobin (233 (18.4%) SCD and 1036 (81.6%) SCD trait).
Conclusions
The study demonstrates the feasibility of establishing a population-based screening programme in the primary health care system. It is easy to implement in tribal habitations as part of the proposed national SCD/haemoglobinopathies programme.

Nowadays, future workload prediction is an important requirement in cloud data centers to maintain flexibility and scalability of resources. However, due to unexpected peaks, drops in ...workload, noise, and redundancy in user requests, there is a considerable variance in resource demands, making it difficult to accurately predict workloads. Therefore, a self‐attention‐based progressive generative adversarial network (SAPGAN) optimized with Giza Pyramids Construction Algorithm (GPCA)‐based workload prediction is proposed for Sustainable Cloud Data Centers (CDC). At first, redundant data in historical data obtained through CDC are filtered utilizing Markov chain random field (MCRF) co‐simulation method. These pre‐processed historical data are supplied to the SAPGAN. The SAPGAN weight parameters are optimized by GPCA. The proposed method is analyzed using 2 benchmark datasets: HTTP traces from Saskatchewan and NASA. The simulation is implemented in JAVA. The performance metrics is examined to verify the efficacy of the proposed technique. The performance of the proposed approach provides 28.70%, 11.87%, and 14.79% higher accuracy; 30.15%, 11.72%, and 18.34% lesser energy consume for the dataset of NASA; and 5.32%, 2.45%, and 5.67% higher accuracy; 12.36%, 24.24%, and 34.16% lesser energy consume for the dataset of Saskatchewan HTTP traces compared with existing methods, such as auto‐adaptive learning in a dynamic cloud environment (AADEA‐WLP‐CDC), a neural network model depending on biphase adaptive learning for anticipating cloud data center workload (BALNN‐WLP‐CDC) and multiple scale ensemble of deep learning framework for multistep‐ahead cloud workload prediction (EMD‐LSTM‐GAN‐WLP‐CDC).

The current state estimators need to estimate the power system by means of the state variables i.e. voltage and current phasors accurately. Phasor measurement unit (PMU) is becoming a most prominent ...tool for monitoring, control and protection of electric networks, and hence it is required to employ them for the present and future power system networks. An optimal PMU placement (OPP) is quite important during planning studies for both existing and future power networks. So, when a new state estimator commissioned, or an existing estimator is up-graded, the problems of minimizing the number of PMUs and their optimal location for system complete observability will come into picture. The approach, in this paper, a Binary Cuckoo Search(BCS) method for system complete Observability based optimal PMU placement problem subjected to all possible contingencies and PMU communication channel limitations is suggested. The suggested method is tested with some of standard IEEE test systems and have been practiced for different State Level Regional power Grids (SLRGs) of the Indian power system. The results from the suggested method are also compared with the methods that have been already applied for standard IEEE test systems and SLRGs, and were proved to be best and effective.
Primary Cutaneous Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (PCACC) is a rare form of cutaneous carcinoma. It closely resembles adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary glands. The lesion tends to infiltrate and recur ...locally but rarely metastasizes to distant organs and lymph nodes. We present here a case of a31-year-old male with complaints of swellings in the chest wall and scalp, progressively increasing in size over a period of 10 years. Clinical diagnosis of sebaceous cysts of scalp and chest wall was made. Histopathology revealed PCACC of the chest wall and dermoid cyst of the scalp.
