Članek predstavlja štiri nove arheološke lokacije v Kopru: Ribiški trg, Škofijsko palačo, Vrtno ulico 2 in Vrtno ulico 8, ki so bile raziskane med leti 2005 in 2019. Osredotoča se na poznoantične ...strukture in najdbe. Novi podatki dopolnjujejo poznavanje poznoantične mejo poseljenosti na Koprskem otoku in diferencirajo poselitveni in grobiščni areal na osrednjem delu otoka, kar omogoča dodatni vpogled v poznoantično strukturo mesta in potencialno urbanistično rekonstrukcijo. Drobne najdbe materialne kulture in živalskih kosti na lokacijah opisujejo poznoantični način življenja in gospodarstva v odvisnosti od socialnega statusa prebivalstva.
The article presents four new archaeological sites in Koper: Ribiški trg, Škofijska palača, Vrtna ulica 2 and Vrtna ulica 8, excavated between 2005 and 2019. It focuses on late Roman structures and ...material finds. New data complement the information about Late Antiquity settlement boundary on the island of Koper and differentiate settlements from the cemetery area in the central part of the island, which provides additional insights into the Late Antiquity structural site and potential urban reconstruction. Small finds of material culture and animal bones describe a way of life in the economy depending on the social status of the settlers.
In humans and animal models, females express higher immune reactivity and more robust inflammatory responses. We analyzed the expression of current inflammatory markers in 149 children (74 girls and ...75 boys) with three chronic inflammatory diseases: 50 with asthma, 47 with cystic fibrosis, and 52 with sickle cell anemia to evaluate the potential differences in clinical response according to sex. Data including temperature, neutrophil count (NC), and C-reactive protein were recorded for each patient at several time points according to his/her disease. In asthma, NC was higher in girls than in males (P < 0.02), as were doses of cortisone (P < 0.04) or inhaled bronchodilators (P < 0.01) received at recovery. In cystic fibrosis, NC became significantly higher in girls at age 5 years (P < 0.003), whereas episodes of infection and antibiotic administration were already significantly more frequent in girls at age 2 years (P < 0.02 and P < 0.05, respectively). In sickle cell anemia, the number of crises since diagnosis and number of acute chest syndrome episodes were significantly higher in girls (P < 0.01 and P < 0.05, respectively). Our study extends the documentation of a relationship between sex, inflammatory markers, and clinical outcome in prepubescent children, suggesting a genetic predetermination is more likely than hormonal influence.

En el relato oficial sobre el pasado remoto del pueblo judío y del Estado de Israel, los distintos episodios de la Biblia hebrea son presentados como crónicas pormenorizadas de procesos ...socio-históricos verificables. La (re)construcción histórica a partir de tradiciones extraídas del ámbito religioso, pero leídas en clave secular, difiere sensiblemente de los criterios consensuados por la comunidad académica que los modernos Estados occidentales sostienen. Esta singular forma de elaborar el relato sobre el pasado y de enseñarlo en circuitos educativos, cobra un sentido particular si es considerada en el contexto de su creación, vinculada al surgimiento de los Estados nacionales y los nacionalismos. Siguiendo el ejemplo de los nacionalismos europeos, el sionismo político se abocó a la tarea de construir un sentimiento de pueblo unificado, y la articulación en su discurso de los registros académico y religioso respondió a dicha necesidad. En la actualidad, superados los desafíos que la era de los nacionalismos planteaba, el modo de evocar el pasado, que no transcribe, sin más, el relato que emerge del ámbito religioso, pero tampoco atiende al método de reconstrucción del pasado propio del ámbito académico, continúa siendo reproducido como propiamente histórico. Un análisis de la relación/distinción entre historia y memoria y la necesidad específica de legitimación del Estado de Israel, puede aportar algunos elementos para releer esta particular versión del pasado.
La historia del desarrollo e institucionalización de la disciplina arqueológica -en Europa y las Américas- se encuentra inextricablemente vinculada al proceso de consolidación de los modernos ...Estados-nación. En aquel contexto, el monopolio del discurso sobre el pasado constituyó un objetivo capital. En la actualidad, la situación de la disciplina es muy distinta: la retórica imperante celebra de la diversidad, valora de las ontologías otras y exhorta al diálogo entre saberes. Este trabajo propone una reflexión en torno a la función y método que la arqueología (mainstream) despliega en la actualidad en dos contextos disímiles: el conjunto diverso de Estados latinoamericanos (con foco en Argentina y México), donde la urgencia de homogeneización social-nacional pareciera superada; y el Estado de Israel donde la legitimación del discurso identitario de corte nacionalista constituye una cuestión de Estado. En ambos casos, el rol de las disciplinas humanísticas continúa siendo determinante en ciertas luchas que se dan por fuera del propio campo (por ejemplo, en la disputa territorial). Allí el principio de autoridad que inviste a nuestras disciplinas continúa invocándose como fuente de legitimidad en los reclamos de unos y otros.
