A search for pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark, (t) over tilde (1), is performed in the lepton + jets channel using 0.9 fb(-1) of data collected by the D circle ...divide experiment. Kinematic differences between (t) over tilde (1)(t) over tilde (1) and the dominant top quark pair production background are used to separate the two processes. First limits from Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider for the scalar top quark decaying to a chargino and a b quark ((t) over tilde1 -> (chi) over tilde (+)(1)b) are obtained for scalar top quark masses of 130-190 GeV and chargino masses of 90-150 GeV.

We report results of a search for the pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark, (t) over bar (1), using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb(-1) ...collected by the D circle divide detector at a p (p) over bar center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Both scalar top quarks are assumed to decay into a b quark, a charged lepton and a scalar neutrino. The search is performed in the electron Plus muon and dielectron final states. The signal topology consists of two isolated leptons, missing transverse energy, and jets. We find no evidence for this process and exclude regions of parameter space in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

We present the first observation of the Z gamma -> nu(nu) over bar gamma process at the Fermilab Tevatron at 5.1 standard deviations significance, based on 3.6 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity ...collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar Collider at root s = 1.96 TeV. The measured Z gamma production cross section multiplied by the branching fraction of Z -> nu(nu) over bar is 32 +/- 9(stat + syst) +/- 2(lumi) fb for the photon E(T) > 90 GeV. It is in agreement with the standard model prediction of 39 +/- 4 fb. We set limits on anomalous trilinear Z gamma gamma and ZZ gamma gauge boson couplings, most of which are the most restrictive to date.

We report on a first search for resonant pair production of neutral long-lived particles (NLLP) which each decay to a b (b) over bar pair, using 3.6 fb(-1) of data recorded with the D0 detector at ...the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We search for pairs of displaced vertices in the tracking detector at radii in the range 1.6-20 cm from the beam axis. No significant excess is observed above background, and upper limits are set on the production rate in a hidden-valley benchmark model for a range of Higgs boson masses and NLLP masses and lifetimes.

We report on a first search for production of the lightest neutral CP-even Higgs boson (h) in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model, where h decays to a pair of neutral pseudoscalar Higgs ...bosons (a), using 4.2 fb(-1) of data recorded with the D0 detector at Fermilab. The a bosons are required to either both decay to mu(+)mu(-) or one to mu(+)mu(-) and the other to tau(+)tau(-). No significant signal is observed, and we set limits on its production as functions of M(a) and M(h).

We present a study of micro micro micro micro, eeee, and micro micro ee events using 1 fb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppover Collider at square root s=1.96 ...TeV. Requiring the lepton pair masses to be greater than 30 GeV, we observe one event, consistent with the expected background of 0.13+/-0.03 events and with the predicted standard model ZZ and Zgamma* production of 1.71+/-0.15 events. We set an upper limit on the ZZ and Zgamma* cross section of 4.4 pb at the 95% C.L. We also derive limits on anomalous neutral trilinear ZZZ and ZZgamma* gauge couplings. The one-parameter 95% C.L. coupling limits with a form-factor scale Lambda=1.2 TeV are -0.28<f(40)(Z)<0.28, -0.31<f(50)(Z)<0.29, -0.26<f(40)(gamma)<0.26, and -0.30<f(50)(gamma)<0.28.

Philippe Braud a marqué de son empreinte intellectuelle plusieurs générations d'étudiants dans les amphithéâtres rennais, de la Sorbonne ou plus récemment de l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris. ...Dans les cursus de droit, comme dans ceux de science politique, sa pédagogie décomplexée et son approche originale de la discipline ont bousculé les savoirs acquis et ouvert l'auditoire sur une face longtemps tue de la politique. L'État, les partis, le vote, les phénomènes contestataires, les identités collectives sont toujours abordés bien sûr, mais au prisme de l'étude du symbolique comme levier pour parvenir à une sociologie des émotions cherchant systématiquement à dévoiler les ressorts invisibles, masqués ou ignorés, de l'exercice et de l'appréhension de la chose publique. Tel est en effet le credo de cet intellectuel iconoclaste, non maître à penser mais révélateur des impensés, non technicien mais savant curieux, plus intellectuel « touche à tout » que spécialiste austère : le politique est avec lui appréhendé par des chemins de traverse avec les outils du sociologue et non la boussole du psychologue. Ce ne sont pas les âmes qui sont sondées mais les interactions et les logiques de situation, avec leur part de projections, d'ambitions et d'attentes affectives. Les articles réunis dans cet ouvrage, sous la plume d'anciens doctorants ou de compagnons intellectuels de Braud, cherchent tous à rendre un hommage parfois critique à celui qui, avec quelques autres, a cherché avant l'heure à légitimer dans le champ scientifique l'étude des contraintes affectuelles de la vie publique.

L’historienne et sociologue a bien montré comment la diffusion du compte rendu des séances avait ...participé à de multiples égards à l’institutionnalisation du Parlement à travers la monopolisation du compte rendu par un corps professionnel s’apparentant à une « féodalité encastrée ». À cet égard, Claude Azéma, entré à l’assemblée en 1973 et directeur du compte rendu depuis 2008, est à la tête d’un service qui a beaucoup évolué ces dernières décennies en regard de sa longue histoire remontant à 1848. Les années 1970 virent l’arrivée de femmes malgré de fortes résistances internes. Les enregistrements audio, d’abord clandestins puis officiels, furent introduits dans les années 1980. Durant les années 1990, l’informatique remplaça le papier et les pneumatiques dans la communication avec le Journal officiel (...).
We present a measurement of the shape of the Z/gamma* boson transverse momentum (q(T)) distribution in pp --> Z/gamma* --> e(+)e(-) + X events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using 0.98 fb(-1) ...of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data are found to be consistent with the resummation prediction at low q(T), but above the perturbative QCD calculation in the region of q(T)>30 GeV/c. Using events with q(T)<30 GeV/c, we extract the value of g(2), one of the nonperturbative parameters for the resummation calculation. Data at large boson rapidity y are compared with the prediction of resummation and with alternative models that employ a resummed form factor with modifications in the small Bjorken x region of the proton wave function.

We search for decays of Kaluza-Klein excitations of the graviton in the Randall-Sundrum model of extra dimensions to e+ e(-) and gamma gamma in 1 fb(-1) of pp collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected ...by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction, which translate into lower limits on the mass of the lightest excitation between 300 and 900 GeV for values of the coupling k/MPl between 0.01 and 0.1.
