Attachment disordered children and young adolescents are usually severely emotionally disturbed. Neglect starting at birth, the serious physical and sexual abuse as young children result in serious ...psychiatric disorders. These young people are angry, assaultive, destructive or severely depressed. Treatment requires a special milieu staff, trained to provide twenty-four hour care and to foster new relationships. Although the milieu is the primary therapeutic agent, psychotherapy and education are critical contributors to the total treatment. It is the close collaboration of people in all three therapeutic modalities that is critical to client improvement or recovery.
