The contribution focuses on the relationship between social and societal dimension of cyberspace. In the first part is focus on social dimension of cyberspace namely the relationship between ICTs (as ...a generator of cyberspace) and society or its actors. In this context social network sites whose course of development was to a large extent directed by users are highlighted. On this basis is argued that in cyberspace technological and social dimensions are intertwined. This means that cyberspace needs to be considered as socio-technological entity. The second part of the contribution focuses on social dimension of cyberspace, at this point author advocates that impacts of ICTs on user's social life are rather complex and it is impossible to identify them as only positive or negative. With this purpose significant researches, which examine influences that ICTs have on user's social life, are highlighted. What follows is argumentation of the importance of interconnectedness of social dynamics that take place in physical space and cyberspace as well. The latter is one of the key characteristics of contemporary society. The contribution ends with the discussion about the suitability of current expressions which are used for social network sites in Slovenian language.
Prispevek se zakljuci z diskusijo o primernosti slovenskih prevodov angleske sintagme social network sites The contribution focuses on the relationship between social and societal dimension of cyberspace. The article deals with changes contemporary cities are facing in the informational society. The history of human society development confirms that space & technological development are closely ...interrelated. As a result of technological development at every level of human development, different infrastructure, residential spaces, places, & buildings, which form & reflect the shape of that space, are appearing. We are also facing these kinds of changes today. It seems that with the appearance of cyberspace (into which social life is gradually transferring), traditional functions of the city are becoming less important. As a consequence, new urban trends, like virtual cities, are appearing. According to some, these virtual cities are the cities of the future. The article attempts to show the ways in which modern city should develop in informational & global society. 33 References. Adapted from the source document.
In the article we present the data taken from the Good Quality of old age and intergenerational relations in the Komenda community research, which took place during the summer of 2005. The research ...was implemented on the sample of 271 individual ages of 60 & more. Presented here the part of the research relates to the possession & use of new information-telecommunication technologies (ICT) & ordinary telephone. Results show that minority of population use computer & internet services, meanwhile ordinary & GSM telephone use almost all interviewed population. The large telephone use means that this form of (personal) long distance communication is often the most important link between relatives & friends. Its importance lays also in loneliness & to increase safety among old people. At the end we present some ideas how to teach old people the use of new ICT in the intergenerational relations context.
