Fibrous dysplasia is related to benign fibro-osseous lesions characterized by the progressive replacement of the original bone tissue by fibrous connective tissue. This condition may be present in a ...single bone, described as monostotic fibrous dysplasia, or in up to 75% of the whole body, described as polyostotic. Its etiology is unknown; however, studies report a relation between the enzymatic and metabolic modifications and genetic mutations. It is more common in the first 2 decades of life, with no prevalence of sex. It is clinically a painless tumefaction, promoting facial asymmetry. Radiographically, it presents as a "glass-matte" aspect opacification. The proposed treatment can be surgical or conservative, depending on the functional and aesthetic impairment. This study aims to report a case and to present the tomographic and anatomic aspects of monostotic fibrous bone dysplasia in a 14-year-old female patient.

The odontogenic cyst is a pathologic cavity lined by odontogenic epithelium and capsule. The objective of this study is to highlight the importance of clinical, radiographic, tomographic, and ...histopathological examination in the diagnosis of cystic maxillary cystic lesions. Patient reported diffuse pain, and edema in the region of element 47. After a clinical examination, the periapical radiograph of tooth 47 showed extensive lesion and root resorption. The dentist requested the computed tomography cone beam (CTCB), which indicated as a diagnostic hypothesis the apical radicular cyst and histopathological examination confirmed this diagnosis. Thus, CTCB was fundamental in the planning of successful treatment, since it allows the 3-dimensional visualization showing details, extent, and location of the lesion.

Dentigerous cyst is a benign lesion that involves the crown of a tooth, expanding to the follicle and is connected to the cemento-enamel junction of an impacted tooth. A 60-year-old male patient ...attended a dental radiology clinic to perform cone beam computed tomography with 3-D panoramic reconstructions and cut-offs in various directions for better visualization of the region to obtain a better diagnosis of the patient, because the patient complained of increased volume in the region of the mandibular body on the left side of the face, and presented slow and painless growth. In accordance with the crosscuts on the left side, it is observed the presence of hypodense image involving the crown of included element 38, giving the possibility of diagnosing dentigerous cyst. The histopathologic examination later confirmed the diagnosis of inflammatory dentigerous cyst.

Ameloblastoma is a benign tumor found in gnathic bones that originates from remnants of the dental blade. According to their clinical characteristics they have slow growth, are locally invasive, and ...radiographically, can present as unilateral or multilocular radiolucent lesions, with well-defined limits. A male patient attended a dental radiology clinic to perform cone beam computed tomography, and through this examination it was possible to observe the presence of multilocular hypodense images in the body and branch of the left jaw, associated with an even tooth; the diagnostic hypothesis was multilocular ameloblastoma. The patient was referred for histopathological examination, and the diagnosis was confirmed. Ameloblastoma, because it is aggressive, has a high percentage of recurrence and the prognosis depends on several factors, so the clinical, radiographic, and histopathological aspects are extremely important because they define their biological behavior.

Odontomas are the most common types of odontogenic tumors, and are also defined as a malformation of benign development. They are classified into complex and compound according to their ...histomorphological characteristics. They are usually asymptomatic and diagnosed by routine radiographic examination. A 10-year-old male sought a radiology clinic for imaging to see what was preventing the eruption of dental element 21. Cone beam computed tomography was performed, with 3-D panoramic reconstruction, with several cuts to better evaluate the region; the area of interest was the maxilla. Thus, according to the left-side sections, the presence of a hyperdense image with the formation of grouped denticles was observed, justifying the delay of the eruption of element 21, which was compatible with the diagnosis of compound odontoma.

Dens invaginatus is an odontogenesis abnormality in which the development of the enamel organ becomes defective, resulting in an altered morphodifferentiation. The diagnosis is made through routine ...radiography. The objective of this work is to perform a literary review, bringing together the clinical and radiographic characteristics of the dentition, in order to facilitate its diagnosis. Dens invaginatus consists of 3 groups: type I, invagination of the enamel circumscribed to the area of the dental crown, type II, enamel invagination exceeds the amelocemental junction, extending to the root, and type III, invagination of the enamel reaching the apical region of the tooth. Radiographically, the affected teeth show a root enlargement, similar to a "tooth inside another." Therefore, knowledge of the clinical and radiographic characteristics of the dentition contributes to the diagnosis and treatment of the anomaly, dens invaginatus, which predisposes the affected teeth to caries and pulp diseases.
