In contrast to X-ray, THz wave (300 GHz-3 THz,T-ray) is a non-ionized light source for non-invasive detection of biological tissues without the concern of much radiation ...exposure. Thus it is believed as an emerging technology for next generation medical imaging system. Additionally, T-ray is capable to penetrate clothing and many (non-metallic) packaging materials. It opens up unique screening possibilities for detection of concealed weapons, chemicals and biological agents, tumors, cavities, and also opportunities for short range radars and secured high data rate wireless communications.
Until recently, THz range signal sources are mostly addressed by silicon-germanium process or bulky and expensive optics. As the fmax of CMOS reach over 300 GHz, it opens up an opportunity to provide a small size and low cost platform in CMOS technology. The government has promoted the renewable energy in the last few years, offshore wind power plays an important role soon after the onshore wind power has been developed for several ...years. The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the balance between the development of wind power and the environmental protection, and prevent the environmental crisis caused by wind power exploitation. Several risks may be caused by wind power development such as bird strikes, marine ecological destruction, the injury to the physiology or phycology of residents. However, whether the risks happen or not is in doubt, the causal relationship is not positive. This is the reason that this thesis started the discuss from the risk regulation. This study uses the game theory approach to analyze the reform of the institution of the preferential deposit for civil servants in 2017 Pension Reform Program. By the ...change in the rewards of the players, including government, the anti-reform group and the pro-reform group, in different coalition structures, discuss the changes to the institution whether it meets Pareto improvement and Pareto efficient criterion. We find that the reform won’t meet Pareto improvement according to Pareto criterion. It means that the result of the reform can be further improved. However, if the reform is from the view point of James Coleman's fiscal sociology, the players will be required to consider others in the game. The players must communicate with each other and formulate a coordination strategy. If all players obey the coordination rules in the grand coalition, the analysis shows that it won’t make anyone worse off when making changes to the institution of the preferential deposit for civil ser
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of risk factors predicting cariometabolic disease. MetS was associated with renal outcome in some studies. However, the effect of MetS seemed loss after the ...adjustment of proteinuria, late CKD stage or diabetes in advanced CKD. Whether MetS predicts renal outcome in established CKD is unknown. We investigated the prognostic effects of MetS in 2500 patients with CKD stage 1-4. 66.9% and 49.2% patients had MetS and DM, respectively. The MetS score was positively associated with proteinuria (p<0.001), inflammation (p=0.001), and nutrition markers (p<0.001). In fully-adjusted Cox regression model, hazard ratio (HR) (95% confidence interval) of MetS for composite renal outcome in DM and non-DM subgroup was 1.56 (1.15-2.12) (p<0.05) and 1.31 (1.02-1.70) (p<0.05), respectively, while that for all-cause mortality was 1.00 (0.71-1.40) and 1.27 (0.92-1.74). Blood pressure is the most important component of MetS for clinical outcomes (1.50 (1.08-2.08) (p<0.05)). In a 2 by 2 matrix, compared with non-MetS non-DM group, MetS DM group (HR: 1.62 (1.31-2.02) (p<0.05)) and MetS non-DM group (HR:1.33 (1.05-1.69) (p<0.05)) had higher risks for composite renal outcome, while MetS DM group had higher risk for all-cause mortality (HR: 1.43 (1.09-1.88) (p<0.05)). In conclusion, MetS could predict renal outcome in CKD stage 1-4 patients independent of diabetes.

Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) films are electrodeposited on fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) substrates with controlled crystallographic orientation and optimized film thickness. The Cu2O films exhibit a ...(100)-to-(111) texture change and a pyramid-to-cuboidal crystallite morphology transformation by increasing the electrodeposition current density. The cuboidal crystallites enclosed by (100) sidewalls and (111) truncated surfaces demonstrate better photoelectrochemical property than the pyramid crystallites. By introducing a copper(I) telluride (Cu2Te) layer in between Cu2O and FTO, the photocurrent density increases 70% for the (111)-textured Cu2O film in a 1 M Na2SO4 solution under AM1.5 G illumination. The enhancement is mainly attributed to the improved separation of photocarriers in the illuminated Cu2O film by pumping hole carriers to the Cu2Te layer. In contrast to typical electron pathway management, this study provides an alternative route to improve the photoelectrochemical performance of Cu2O-based photocathodes through hole pathway modification.
