Model predictive torque control (MPTC) is a widely used control scheme for induction motor drives due to its quick dynamic response, intuitive nature, and flexibility to integrate constraints. ...Conventional PI-based MPTC is used to minimize the torque ripples but unable to address the robust and accurate tracking of speed. In this paper, SMC based MPTC scheme is proposed that combines the properties of SMC and Model Predictive Control (MPC) providing a robust and flexible system that improves the tracking performance and torque ripple minimization.
This paper presents findings from a study conducted in 2007 and 2008 in two states in India: Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. The objectives of the study were to: (i) design effective and appropriate HPV ...vaccine delivery systems for 10- to 14-year-old girls; (ii) design a communication strategy for HPV vaccine delivery; and (iii) devise an HPV vaccine advocacy strategy. The study populations included girls, parents, and local-, district-, and national-level stakeholders. A mixture of group discussions, visual representation techniques, face-to-face interviews, desk and health facility record reviews, field observations, and consultative workshops were used to collect the data. Study findings showed that the policymakers, health care providers, parents, and adolescents were aware and concerned about cervical cancer; would welcome vaccination if safe, effective, affordable, and accessible. Health systems did not require large infrastructure investments to introduce HPV vaccine; basic cold chain and logistic equipment were available. New outreach systems for adolescent girls need to be tested through demonstration projects. No policies would compromise the introduction of HPV vaccination. An HPV vaccine program, requiring public education and provider training, could be delivered. Policymakers' safety and vaccine efficacy concerns can be addressed through targeted advocacy efforts. Three broad approaches were suggested: (i) merge HPV vaccination with already established immunization services; (ii) package HPV immunization with adolescent health services or as a part of a cancer control service; and (iii) deliver HPV vaccinations through either routine immunization services or a campaign using schools as sites for school-going girls and anganwadi or village health centers for non-school-going girls.
We find a class of block graphs whose binomial edge ideals have minimal regularity. As a consequence, we characterize the trees whose binomial edge ideals have minimal regularity. Also, we show that ...the binomial edge ideal of a block graph has the same depth as its initial ideal.
: Spontaneous intramedullary apoptosis was measured in bone marrow (BM) biopsies of 175 patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) using in situ end‐labeling (ISEL) of fragmented DNA. Two groups ...of high (n = 71) versus low (n = 43) levels of apoptosis were identified while 61 patients were ISEL‐negative. Semiquantitative assessment of 3 cytokines, the number of macrophages and in vivo labeling indices (LI) were also determined from consecutive sections of the biopsy. Patients with high apoptosis levels tended to have a high LI (p = 0.013), more macrophages in their BM biopsies (p = 0.006) and higher tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF‐α) levels (not significant) compared to patients with no apoptosis. In addition, low risk MDS patients had significantly lower rates of apoptosis (p = 0.047) and lower levels of TNF‐α (p = 0.055) compared to high‐risk MDS patients. We conclude that the genesis of cytopenias in MDS is of multifactorial origin and that cytokine‐associated apoptosis clearly identifies a distinct biological subgroup of patients who may benefit selectively by use of anti‐cytokine therapies.

For the analysis and forecasting of time series, we always search for a statistical model capable of understanding the underlying processes of data and filtering the unwanted noise. This noise may ...either be white or coloured, having some pattern of autoregressive moving average i.e., ARMA(p,q) processes. This search is carried out by using various forecast accuracy criteria and tools such as, Akaike's information criterion (AIC) and Akram test statistic (ATS). As compared to others, the AIC and ATS are noted to be more effective for identification of good models. However, AIC, being parametric in nature, is found to be comparatively more sensitive to noise volatilities and cumbersome to use; whereas, ATS, the base of which is distribution free is observed to be quite robust to noise variations, parsimonious in nature and relatively more easy to use. In this paper both the AIC and ATS are reviewed, practical implication discussed and their role in identifying optimum models from a class of candidate statistical models, especially, the linear dynamic system models is examined. For better insight, into these gadgets an example on analysis and forecasting of daily copper prices is given.
