T-cell lymphoma invasion and metastasis 2 (TIAM2) plays a critical role in the malignancy development of many human cancers. However, the specific regulatory mechanism of TIAM2 in osteosarcoma has not yet been explored. In this study, we investigated how TIAM2 affects the proliferation and invasion of osteosarcoma cells and the underlying molecular mechanism. We performed data mining of publicly available datasets to examine whether the expression of TIAM2 is associated with osteosarcoma. We knocked down the expression of and overexpressed TIAM2 in osteosarcoma cells. The proliferative capacity of cells in each group was determined by the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. Wound healing and Transwell invasion assays were performed to evaluate the migration and invasion abilities of the TIAM2 knockdown and overexpressed osteosarcoma cells. Determination of the function of TIAM2 in vivo was performed in nude mice. Data mining confirmed that TIAM2 expression is associated with poor prognosis in osteosarcoma. TIAM2 expression levels were significantly higher in osteosarcoma cells, and TIAM2 expression knockdown reduced proliferation and invasion abilities. Animal experiments demonstrated that TIAM2 promotes tumor growth. Additional experiments suggested that TIAM2 was significantly related to the activation of the JAK2/STAT3 pathway, and subsequent mechanistic experiments further confirmed this. Our findings suggest that TIAM2 promotes the proliferation and invasion capacities of osteosarcoma cells by activating the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. TIAM2 may serve as a potential prognostic target for patients with OS.

To address the issue of poor accuracy in typhoon wind data, this paper presents a methodology for the calibration of typhoon wind data while conducting an analysis and evaluation of the associated ...uncertainties. The approach commences with the introduction of two wind field data calculation models. The first model facilitates the correction of buoy attitude, thereby transforming inaccurate buoy wind speed data into real-speed data. In parallel, the second model enables the conversion of buoy-observed true velocity into neutral stable stratified wind parameters, leveraging satellite-derived data for precise calculations. Subsequently, the paper undertakes the task of spatio-temporal alignment between buoy data and satellite observations. Ultimately, a comprehensive comparative analysis is conducted by juxtaposing the ERA5 database with data collected from a moored buoy equipped with the R.M. YOUNG wind monitor. A new simulation method for satellite wind speed data inversion is proposed, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed calibration method in enhancing the accuracy of typhoon wind field data. The formation and development of an attached cavity at the tail of an underwater moving vehicle involves a complex multiphase flow, which determines the load characteristics and motion stability of ...the vehicle. In this study, an experimental method was used to explore the formation process and motion characteristics of the cavity at the tail of the vehicle, and a pressure sensor installed at the tail of the model was used to establish the relationship between the evolution of the tail attachment cavity and transient pressure. The study found that the process of pulling and breaking the attached cavity was accompanied by the generation of bidirectional jets, and reducing the cavitation number could weaken the occurrence of jet impact. When the ventilation flow reaches the critical value Q¯in = 1.28, the cavity pulsates. In addition, increasing the ventilation flow does not increase the size of the tail cavity, and the length of the cavity at the closure increases with the decrease of the cavitation number.
Case
Cortical blindness induced by hepatic encephalopathy is an extremely rare complication and its epidemiology has not been studied in great detail. We report a 63‐year‐old man with liver cirrhosis ...who developed sudden bilateral visual impairment.
Outcome
On arrival at hospital, the patient had orientation disturbance, slurred speech, and mild disturbance of consciousness with impaired vision (light sense). He had no focal neurological deficits except for bilateral blindness. Cerebral stroke was suspected, but imaging and ophthalmological examination did not reveal major abnormalities. An increased concentration of ammonia in blood suggested hepatic encephalopathy; a diagnosis of cortical blindness was proposed. His vision returned gradually with relief of hepatic encephalopathy.
Conclusion
Cortical blindness can be an initial symptom of hepatic encephalopathy without severe disturbance of consciousness, and can be misdiagnosed as cerebral stroke. Cortical blindness induced by hepatic encephalopathy has been reported in only 10 cases, including our patient, and merits further evaluation.

From December 2019, a novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, caused an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan city and rapidly spread throughout China and globally. However, the clinical characteristics and ...co-infection with other respiratory pathogens of patients with COVID-19 and the factors associated with severity of COVID-19 are still limited. In this retrospective cohort study, we included 354 inpatients with COVID-19 admitted to Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from February 4, 2020 to February 28, 2020. We found levels of interleukin-6, interleukin-10, C-reactive protein, D-dimer, white blood cell count and neutrophil count were clearly elevated in males and critical cases compared with females and severe and mild cases, respectively. However, lymphopenia was more severe in males than females and levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha were reduced significantly in critical cases than severe and mild cases. 23.5% of severe cases and 24.4% of critical cases were co-infected with other respiratory pathogens. Additionally, stepwise multivariable regression analysis suggested that co-infection, lymphocyte count and levels of D-dimer were associated with severity of COVID-19.These findings provide crucial clues for further identification of the mechanisms, characteristics and treatments of patients with COVID-19.

This study aimed to analyze the pulsation characteristics of tail cavities at different Froude numbers under vertical launching conditions. The improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES), ...volume of fluid (VOF) model, adaptive mesh refinement (AMR), and overlapping grid technique were adopted to model the pulsation characteristics of the tail cavity. The feasibility of the model for predicting dynamic behaviors was verified by comparing the numerical and experimental results. The results demonstrated that the volume of the tail cavity pulsated periodically. However, the concurrent expansion and contraction in the integral tail cavity resulted in a relative state of cavity volume pulsation. When the expansion rate exceeded the contraction rate, the cavity volume increased, otherwise, decreased. In addition, four flow patterns were observed in the tail cavity: smooth, irregular, hybrid, and cavity-shedding regions. An increase in the Froude number augmented the tail cavity volume and proportion of irregular regions, and reduced the proportion of hybrid regions.
•Zero-gap overlapping grid technique is adopted to solve the interaction between wall boundaries.•The simulation results show good agreement with the experimental results.•The mechanism of tail cavity pulsation under vertical launching conditions is studied.•The expansion and contraction exist in the integral tail cavity at the same time, causing increase or decrease in the cavity volume a relative state.•An increase in Froude number larges the volume of the tail cavity.

The tail of an underwater vehicle with a tail jet often creates an attached tail cavity when moving at high speed. The strong coupling between the tail cavity and high-speed jet affects the ...kinematics characteristics of underwater vehicles. This paper compares the influence of Froude number (Fr) and ventilation coefficient (CQv) on the tail cavity at area ratio A/Ae = 92.5 and 236.7 by water tunnel experiment. It was found that at a small Fr, the critical ventilation coefficient of the transition from intact (IC) to partially broken (PBC) and PBC to pulsating foam (PFC) at A/Ae = 92.5 is greater than that of A/Ae = 236.7. The cavitation number (σc) at A/Ae = 92.5 is generally smaller than that of A/Ae = 236.7. With increased CQv, PBC's dimensionless time-averaged length (Lc‾/D) decreases sharply and then gradually flattens. The Lc‾/D of A/Ae = 236.7 is larger than that of A/Ae = 92.5. The fluctuation amplitude of the PBC length is smaller than that of the PFC, and the fluctuation frequency (fLc) of the PFC length is about 120 Hz. The change in the tail cavity will affect the pressure characteristics of the vehicle's bottom. With the increase of CQv, the peak frequency of the bottom pressure fluctuation (fpeak) will continue to rise in the PBC until the transition to the PFC, and the fpeak will remain at about 120 Hz. The correlation coefficient is 0.74 between the fLc and the fpeak. In addition, the pressure oscillation intensity at the vehicle's bottom (pbrms) is small in the IC region. When the tail cavity changes from PBC to PFC, pbrms increases gradually at first, then tends to be flat.

The problem of jet in cross flow has been studied for many decades. However, the investigation on gas jet in liquid cross flow is still rare. In addition, although ventilated cavity has been widely ...studied in ship drag reduction where the gas jet is injected into a cross flow vertically, the investigation on the dynamic behaviors of gas jet injected into cross flow horizontally is scarce. In this paper, an experimental device was designed to study dynamic characteristics of the ventilation bubbles injected from a vertical moving body. The bubble dynamic behaviors were captured by a high speed camera. Based on the experimental system, a series of experiments of the air exhaust process from a vertical moving body is studied under different motion states of the vertical moving body and different initial pressure ratio. The air accumulation effect and low pressure region on front of the ventilation holes causing the front of the ventilation bubble moves toward the head. Also, due to the Coandă effect and pressure difference the closure mode of re-entrant jet is presented. In addition, three types of flow patterns of the ventilation bubble were discovered.
•The unsteady bubble dynamic behaviours near the venting holes are observed and analyzed.•Morphological transformation and position of the re-entrant jet have been studied.•Pressure evolutions inside the air chamber with different conditions are presented.•Three flow patterns of interaction between adjacent bubbles have been discovered.

The research on the structure and dynamic evolution of ventilated tail cavity is an important basis for designing the tail structure of an underwater vehicle. In this paper, through water tunnel ...experiments, the characteristics of the ventilated tail cavity at different angles of attack α are studied. Using a high-speed camera and pressure measurement system, the transient evolution characteristics of the tail cavity under different Froude numbers Fr and ventilation flow coefficient CQv are obtained. The results show that: under the influence of Fr and CQv, the underwater ventilating tail cavity mainly includes four forms: foam cavity (FC), intact cavity (IC), partially broken cavity (PBC), and pulsating foam cavity (PFC); For the intact cavity of the vehicle with the angle attack, the upstream cavity is more stable and long, and more likely to have the re-entrant jet closure. However, the downstream cavity is more broken and isolated, and this phenomenon alleviates as CQv or Fr number increases; For the intact cavity, with CQv or Fr number increasing, the vehicle bottom pressure fluctuation increases, and the influence of gravity on the vehicle bottom pressure fluctuation is smaller than that of gas-liquid shear on the bottom pressure fluctuation; The energy provided by jet under the 4° attack angle vehicle is lower than that under the 0° attack angle vehicle.
•Under different Fr and CQv, the cavity goes through four stages including FC, IC, PBC, and PFC in the subsonic environment.•The stability of the cavity is jointly influenced by the angle of attack and ventilation rate when Fr and CQv are constant.•For an intact cavity, the pressure pulsation of the tail cavity will decrease with CQv or Fr increasing.•The effect of gravity on the pressure pulsation of the intact cavity is less than that of the gas-liquid shear.
