During recent decades, ornamental fish have proven to be one of the fastest growing categories of pets in Europe. In this framework, we evaluated both the potential pathogenic and zoonotic risks ...caused by 53 Vibrio cholerae non‐O1/non‐O139 and a Vibrio mimicus strain isolated from ornamental fish species mostly originating from South‐East Asia countries between 2000 and 2015 in Italy. All the strains were firstly identified at species level by biochemical, phylogenetic and mass spectrometry (matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight) methods, and then studied to reveal the presence of the main virulence and colonization‐associated factors, as ctxA, ace, zot, stn/sto, toxR, rtxA, hlyA and tcpA by multiplex and single endpoint PCR assays. Findings showed that 21 of 54 strains harboured at least one virulence factor with a predominance for the toxR+, rtxA+ and hlyAET+ genotype. Interestingly, the V. mimicus strain harboured the colonization factor and the CTX prophage receptor, tcpA, indicating the ability to capture and integrate it in its genome increasing its pathogenicity. Although these enterotoxins can sporadically cause gastroenteritis, the results highlight their probable involvement in causing severe implications for public health, suggesting the need for an European microbiological monitoring.

Aims
To investigate Norovirus (NoV) contamination of mussels, clams and oysters harvested in two class B harvesting areas of the delta of the Po river, to choose a species as an indicator.
Methods ...and Results
Environmental parameters (temperature and salinity) and hydrometric levels of the tributary river were measured. Seventy shellfish samples (35 samples per area) were examined for Escherichia coli and NoV (GI and GII). NoV contamination was found in 51·4% of samples, of which, 2·9% contained only NoV GI, 14·3% only NoV GII, while the majority of the samples (34·3%) contained both genogroups. Most of the positive results (90·0%) were obtained in the period between November 2008 and April 2009.
Conclusions
No significant differences were found between the results from the two harvesting areas and the three shellfish species. However, on the basis of the average Ct values, the recovery rate (from 0·46 to 1·15%) and the distribution of positive results in the samplings, mussels seem to be a suitable indicator species to monitor viral contamination in these areas.
Significance and Impact of the Study
The data allow the optimization of monitoring plans to improve the prevention strategies in terms of money and time, by the intensification of controls in the cold season and the use of one species as indicator.

The occurrence of larval Anisakidae and Raphidascarididae in anchovies and sardines from the North Adriatic Sea has been estimated. Anisakis pegreffii and Hysterothylacium aduncum were reported, with ...low prevalence values. In brief, a total amount of 7650 fish specimens collected between September 2011 and 2012 were analysed using three different inspection analyses: a visual inspection of the coelomic cavity, an examination of the viscera exploiting the positive hydro-tropism of the larvae (modified Baermann technique) and enzymatic digestion of muscular tissue pools. Low level of infestation was reported for Anisakis sp. in both in anchovies and sardines, while higher values were reported for Hysterothylacium sp. Subsamples of nematodes collected were characterized at species level using the molecular diagnostic key based on ITS nuclear ribosomal region, and A. pegreffii and H. aduncum were identified. The low prevalence of Anisakis sp. in sardines and anchovies from the North Adriatic Sea could be related to the peculiar distribution of cetaceans and carnivorous zooplankton in the investigated region and could be used as a potential tag to define oily fishes from this specific fishing area as at low-risk for anisakiasis.

In order to update candidate evaluations voters must acquire information and determine whether that new information supports or opposes their candidate expectations. Normatively, new negative ...information about a preferred candidate should result in a downward adjustment of an existing evaluation. However, recent studies show exactly the opposite; voters become more supportive of a preferred candidate in the face of negatively valenced information. Motivated reasoning is advanced as the explanation, arguing that people are psychologically motivated to maintain and support existing evaluations. Yet it seems unlikely that voters do this ad infinitum. To do so would suggest continued motivated reasoning even in the face of extensive disconfirming information. In this study we consider whether motivated reasoning processes can be overcome simply by continuing to encounter information incongruent with expectations. If so, voters must reach a tipping point after which they begin more accurately updating their evaluations. We show experimental evidence that such an affective tipping point does in fact exist. We also show that as this tipping point is reached, anxiety increases, suggesting that the mechanism that generates the tipping point and leads to more accurate updating may be related to the theory of affective intelligence. The existence of a tipping point suggests that voters are not immune to disconfirming information after all, even when initially acting as motivated reasoners.

Au cours des dernières décennies, différents bouleversements sont venus perturber la structure de marché de plusieurs oligopoles et le comportement des firmes au sein de tels marchés, laissant ...présager des modifications sensibles dans le niveau de concurrence. La présente recherche a pour principal objectif d'utiliser les contributions respectives de l'économie industrielle (organisation industrielle) et de la gestion stratégique en vue d'élaborer un cadre théorique permettant d'expliquer l'évolution de la concurrence au sein d'une industrie. Les hypothèses propres à un tel cadre théorique font l'objet d'une vérification empirique en utilisant à ces fins l'industrie américaine de l'acier, longtemps considérée comme un exemple classique d'industrie oligopolistique. Un survol de la recherche en économie industrielle concernant l'intensité de la concurrence au sein des secteurs nous permet d'opposer la vision structuraliste à celle behavioriste. Suite à une analyse du cadre conceptuel et du contexte de la concurrence propres à chacune de ces visions, il nous semble qu'une vision stratégique du processus concurrentiel englobant à la fois les notions de structure de marché et de comportement des firmes reflète davantage l'évolution de la concurrence au sein d'une industrie. Le concept de groupe stratégique ( GS ) adhère à une telle vision de la concurrence. Se situant entre la firme et l'industrie, ce concept offre également un terrain de rencontre flexible pour l'organisation industrielle et la gestion stratégique. De plus, son utilisation présente un intérêt en vue d'expliquer l'environnement davantage compétitif auquel les aciéries américaines semblent être confrontées. Une analyse historique de cette industrie, en utilisant à ces fins le concept de GS, nous permet effectivement d'illustrer le déclin du Big Steel (ce groupe de grandes firmes intégrées constituant le noyau de l'industrie sidérurgique américaine) et la croissance des mini-aciéries. Une telle analyse historique nous permet également de présumer que l'évolution de l'intensité de la concurrence au sein de l'industrie américaine de l'acier s'explique par des perturbations exogènes attribuables à l'environnement et par des variables structurelles et de comportement indicatrices de l'étendue du consensus oligopolistique. Nous présentons un modèle englobant trois dimensions de l'évolution de l'intensité de la concurrence. Cette dernière varie avec : la source des perturbations exogènes, les variables structurelles et comportementales indicatrices de l'étendue du consensus oligopolistique. Ce dernier groupe de variables concerne les caractéristiques du regroupement stratégique. Leur prise en compte a pour but d'expliquer en quoi l'utilisation des GS contribue à améliorer l'analyse de la concurrence. Afin de valider notre modèle, nous procédons à une vérification empirique. Nous utilisons à cette fin une analyse intra-industrielle concernant des données en séries chronologiques. Ceci a nécessité la cueillette de données au niveau de la firme et au niveau de l'industrie, pour chacune des années d'une période d'analyse s'échelonnant sur trois décennies (1960-1991). Les résultats de notre recherche permettent de vérifier statistiquement les hypothèses à la base de notre modèle théorique. L'évolution de l'intensité de la concurrence au sein de l'industrie américaine de l'acier s'explique par la présence de perturbations exogènes et par les variables reflétant l'étendue du consensus oligopolistique. Il s'agit surtout de variables de comportement (les caractéristiques du regroupement stratégique); les déterminants structurels du consensus oligopolistique ayant peu de poids dans l'explication de l'évolution de la concurrence de l'industrie à l'étude. Les conclusions les plus importantes de notre vérification empirique nous permettent de corroborer la vision stratégique à la base de notre modèle théorique. L'intensité de la concurrence au sein d'une industrie s'explique par la structure de marché et le comportement des firmes. Si les firmes doivent s'adapter aux nouvelles conditions de l'environnement (vision structuraliste), elles utilisent également des stratégies destinées à le maîtriser et à se repositionner au sein d'un tel environnement (vision behavioriste). Le concept de GS confère à cette recherche un caractère distinctif. L'utilisation de variables représentant les caractéristiques structurelles du regroupement stratégique au sein d'une industrie contribue à documenter la recherche relative au phénomène de la concurrence, et constitue également un apport pour la recherche relative au concept de GS en étudiant de façon explicite les effets compétitifs des GS; ce qui ne fut pas la préoccupation centrale des études antérieures.
