We present a measurement of the lepton decay asymmetry ital Asub fb in the reaction ital bar Br arrowital Dsup *ital lminusbar nusub ital l using data collected with the CLEO II detector at the ...Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). The value of ital Asub fb confirms that the chirality of the weak interaction is predominantly left-handed in ital br arrowital c transitions as expected in the standard model, if it is assumed that the lepton current is also left-handed. Using ital Asub fb and the previously determined branching ratio, ital qsup 2 distribution, and ital Dsup * polarization, we obtain the first measurement of the form-factor ratios that are used to describe this semileptonic decay.

Using date from ital esup +ital eminus annihilation into hadrons taken on the Upsilon(1ital S) and continuum, we are able to compare event properties of three-gluon (ital ggg) and quark-antiquark ...(ital qbar q) decays. By tagging radiative decays of the Upsilon(3ital S) to the chisub ital bsup prime states, we can make comparisons of the chisub ital bsup prime event shapes with continuum and ital ggg decays of the Upsilon(1ital S). Contrary to the notion that two-gluon (ital gg) events are globally very similar to ital qbar q jets, we infer from a study of the chisub ital bsup prime (ital J=0 or 2) states that ital gg event shapes more closely resemble ital ggg decays of the Upsilon(1ital S), whereas ital qbar qg decays of the chisub ital bsup prime (ital J=1) state more closely resemble ital qbar q continuum events in their decay characteristics.
