IFMIF-DONES is a facility under construction in Granada, whose main goal is the validation and characterization of materials under a fusion prototypic irradiation field. This field is created by the ...interaction of a high energy intense continuous deuteron beam and a flowing liquid lithium target. The requirements imposed on the beam at the interaction point are a complex trade-off among the scientific experimental needs for the materials irradiation defined at the top-level requirements (20 dpa in a volume of 0.3 dm3 and 50 dpa in 0.1 dm3), and the technical constraints of several systems such as the Accelerator Systems, the Lithium Systems, and the Test Systems. Recent simulations with the initial definition of beam-on-target requirements showed the necessity of redefining them in order to fulfill the irradiation needs. This contribution will address the main challenges to gather the inputs for the definition and reassessment of the beam-on-target requirements. A comparison detailing the main changes compared to the previous ones will be given, together with a short overview of the studies ongoing by different systems to analyze the impact of each beam-on-target requirements on the performance of the whole facility.

During the last three decades, an urbanism defined by megaprojects and top-down planning has been carried out without the real participation of citizens. With the objective of investigating the role ...played by citizens in the transformation of public space and in the reconstruction of social relations, we analyse process of participation of an urban social movement in the Zorrotzaurre Peninsula, Bilbao, over a decade (2004-2014). Using the research-action methodology and qualitative techniques such as the longitudinal and multilayer narrative (institutional, economic and social actors) in a first phase, and semi-structured interviews in a second, we discover that the task of building spaces of deliberative power is arduous for the citizens, and that it is through the new meeting spaces created by social learning that a paradigm shift in the construction of our cities can arise.
The humoral immune response against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) variants of concern elicited by vaccination was evaluated in COVID‐19 recovered individuals (Rec) ...separated 1–3 months (Rec2m) or 4–12 months (Rec9m) postinfection and compared to the response in naïve participants. Antibody‐mediated immune responses were assessed in 66 participants by three commercial immunoassays and a SARS‐CoV‐2 lentiviral‐based pseudovirus neutralization assay. Immunoglobulin (Ig) levels against SARS‐CoV‐2 spike were lower in naïve participants after two doses than in Rec after a single dose (p < 0.05). After two doses in Rec, levels of total Ig to receptor‐binding domain were significantly increased in Rec9m compared to Rec2m (p < 0.001). The neutralizing potency observed in Rec9m was consistently higher than in Rec2m against variants of concern (VOCs) Alpha, Beta, Delta, and BA.1 sublineage of Omicron with 2.2–2.8‐fold increases. Increasing the interval between SARS‐CoV‐2 infection and the vaccination with messenger RNA‐based vaccines to more than 3 months generates a more efficient heterologous humoral immune response against VOCs by allowing enough time to mount a strong recall memory B cell response.

Drawing on the Agency-Stewardship approach, which suggests that manager profile may range from the agent model to the steward model, this article aims to examine how important CEOs are to corporate ...social responsibility (CSR). Specifically, this exploratory study proposes the existence of a relationship between manager profile and CSR practices and that this relation is mediated by the perceived role of ethics and social responsibility. After applying a mediated regression analysis using survey information collected from 149 CEOs in Spain, results show that those closer to the steward model are more inclined to attach great importance to ethics and social responsibility, and to implement CSR practices in their companies. Results also provide support for the suggested mediating effect. Thus, this article extends research in understanding top managers as drivers for CSR and suggests new ways to deal with this issue empirically.
In August 2018, a fatal autochthonous case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever was confirmed in western Spain. The complete sequence of the viral genome revealed circulation of a new virus because the ...genotype differs from that of the virus responsible for another case in 2016. Practitioners should be alert to possible new cases.

Teachers often need to adapt their teaching methodologies in order to overcome possible limitations and ensure that education does not lose quality in the face of different scenarios that may arise ...in the educational environment, which are not always the most desirable. Techniques such as the Educational Escape Room (ERE) in higher education, are taking a great increase due to its popularity among young people as a leisure activity. This study shows an educational research based on the application of a Digital Educational Escape Room (DEER) to respond to the limitations of hybrid teaching with students divided between the classroom and their homes. Through the analysis of a control group, with a traditional lecture class, and an experimental group with the use of a pretest and a posttest, with the addition of studying the different learning styles of the students in each group, interesting results and conclusions have been obtained that offer a replicability of this technique for other fields and educational modalities.
It is indisputable that success in the acquisition of a second language is closely dovetailed with motivation. A direct rapport between motivation and language achievement can be traced, whereby the ...higher the motivation, the smoother the advances towards an effective acquisition of the target language. This process has been thoroughly explored of late in the field of Second Language Learning (SLL). Experts have rightly pinpointed that motivation dynamics greatly differ when we attend to groups of learners that tend to have a meagre and oscillating engagement with the subject matter, as it is mostly the case with adolescents. Thus, what would be at stake in this paper is the discussion of how to pair teenagers’ preferences with pertinent teaching-learning tools in the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) context. Given that the greatest challenge is to engage students’ attention and to present contents and topics that are relevant to them, it is our contention that specific literary resources as those within the Gothic narrative genre can facilitate motivation in learner-centred experience in adolescence since they resonate with key anxieties of this period. We thus side with the growing current in SLL that, over the decades, has promoted literature and extensive reading as valuable contributions to language acquisition. Our specific proposal is to incorporate the reading of Gothic fiction into the EFL secondary curriculum as a motivational spur. If teachers introduce narratives in English that have particularly appealing subject matters for our students, the teaching-learning strategies would be greatly improved.
