The main purpose of this article is to analyse the evolution of the Romanian political parties from the perspective of their performance in the three rounds of European elections that ever took place ...in Romania: 2007, 2009 and 2014. The European elections generated a rather little interest among Romanian voters, who didn’t perceive there was much at stake in this kind of elections. While this could be evaluated as a downside in terms of representation, the results offer a rather accurate image of the actual political support of the parties and their capacity to mobilize voters at a particular moment in time. An extensive analysis of the data available from the elections can provide explanations and insights for further electoral evolutions.

In this brief study, the author aims analyse the modern history of continental Europe in order to identify the steps that led to the emergence of democratic regimes and the risks that they face ...today. The research hypothesis is that great historical cycles are followed by periods of great social and political unrest that may lead to violent revolutionary movements. French Revolution of 1789, the Great Bolshevik Revolution of September 1917, or the rise of national-socialist fascist regimes in Europe are clear examples that confirm this hypothesis. In what regards the contemporary age, the author identified the crisis of the welfare state and international migration as the major risks faced by democratic regimes. Nazi-based or fascist parties have emerged in many European countries, along with anti-European political movements which rise against migrants and make use of xenophobic and anti-Semitic discourse.
