Upper gastrointestinal cancers (including oesophageal cancer and gastric cancer) are the most common cancers worldwide. Artificial intelligence platforms using deep learning algorithms have made ...remarkable progress in medical imaging but their application in upper gastrointestinal cancers has been limited. We aimed to develop and validate the Gastrointestinal Artificial Intelligence Diagnostic System (GRAIDS) for the diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal cancers through analysis of imaging data from clinical endoscopies.
This multicentre, case-control, diagnostic study was done in six hospitals of different tiers (ie, municipal, provincial, and national) in China. The images of consecutive participants, aged 18 years or older, who had not had a previous endoscopy were retrieved from all participating hospitals. All patients with upper gastrointestinal cancer lesions (including oesophageal cancer and gastric cancer) that were histologically proven malignancies were eligible for this study. Only images with standard white light were deemed eligible. The images from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were randomly assigned (8:1:1) to the training and intrinsic verification datasets for developing GRAIDS, and the internal validation dataset for evaluating the performance of GRAIDS. Its diagnostic performance was evaluated using an internal and prospective validation set from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (a national hospital) and additional external validation sets from five primary care hospitals. The performance of GRAIDS was also compared with endoscopists with three degrees of expertise: expert, competent, and trainee. The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of GRAIDS and endoscopists for the identification of cancerous lesions were evaluated by calculating the 95% CIs using the Clopper-Pearson method.
1 036 496 endoscopy images from 84 424 individuals were used to develop and test GRAIDS. The diagnostic accuracy in identifying upper gastrointestinal cancers was 0·955 (95% CI 0·952–0·957) in the internal validation set, 0·927 (0·925–0·929) in the prospective set, and ranged from 0·915 (0·913–0·917) to 0·977 (0·977–0·978) in the five external validation sets. GRAIDS achieved diagnostic sensitivity similar to that of the expert endoscopist (0·942 95% CI 0·924–0·957 vs 0·945 0·927–0·959; p=0·692) and superior sensitivity compared with competent (0·858 0·832–0·880, p<0·0001) and trainee (0·722 0·691–0·752, p<0·0001) endoscopists. The positive predictive value was 0·814 (95% CI 0·788–0·838) for GRAIDS, 0·932 (0·913–0·948) for the expert endoscopist, 0·974 (0·960–0·984) for the competent endoscopist, and 0·824 (0·795–0·850) for the trainee endoscopist. The negative predictive value was 0·978 (95% CI 0·971–0·984) for GRAIDS, 0·980 (0·974–0·985) for the expert endoscopist, 0·951 (0·942–0·959) for the competent endoscopist, and 0·904 (0·893–0·916) for the trainee endoscopist.
GRAIDS achieved high diagnostic accuracy in detecting upper gastrointestinal cancers, with sensitivity similar to that of expert endoscopists and was superior to that of non-expert endoscopists. This system could assist community-based hospitals in improving their effectiveness in upper gastrointestinal cancer diagnoses.

Abstract
The physical origin of fast radio bursts (FRBs) is still unclear. However, young magnetars associated with short-duration gamma-ray bursts (SGRBs) have been thought to be possible central ...engines for some FRBs. In this paper, we perform a systematic search for SGRBs that are associated with FRBs in a sample including 623 FRBs (601 one-off bursts and 22 repeaters) and 168 SGRBs with precise localizations. We find that FRB 190309A is spatially associated with GRB 060502B, with a chance probability of 0.05 when temporal and redshift information is taken into account. Considering the high chance probability (the statistical significance is <3
σ
), we examine other observational properties such as the host galaxy, the dispersion measure, and the energy budget of the central engine to check the possibility of their association. Although the available observational information is insufficient to determine whether they are physically associated, it does not rule out such a possibility. As the only pair of FRB and GRB that are spatially associated, it remains an interesting case worthy of further attention.
Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is an important oil crop in the world, and increasing its oil content is a major breeding goal. The studies on seed structure and characteristics of different oil content ...rapeseed could help us to understand the biological mechanism of lipid accumulation, and be helpful for rapeseed breeding.
Here we report on the seed ultrastructure of an ultrahigh oil content rapeseed line YN171, whose oil content is 64.8%, and compared with other high and low oil content rapeseed lines. The results indicated that the cytoplasms of cotyledon, radicle, and aleuronic cells were completely filled with oil and protein bodies, and YN171 had a high oil body organelle to cell area ratio for all cell types. In the cotyledon cells, oil body organelles comprised 81% of the total cell area in YN171, but only 53 to 58% in three high oil content lines and 33 to 38% in three low oil content lines. The high oil body organelle to cotyledon cell area ratio and the cotyledon ratio in seed were the main reasons for the ultrahigh oil content of YN171. The correlation analysis indicated that oil content is significantly negatively correlated with protein content, but is not correlated with fatty acid composition.
Our results indicate that the oil content of YN171 could be enhanced by increasing the oil body organelle to cell ratio for some cell types. The oil body organelle to seed ratio significantly highly positively correlates with oil content, and could be used to predict seed oil content. Based on the structural analysis of different oil content rapeseed lines, we estimate the maximum of rapeseed oil content could reach 75%. Our results will help us to screen and identify high oil content lines in rapeseed breeding.

Ferroptosis, a new type of cell death has been found to aggravate intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, little is known about the changes of gut microbiota and metabolites in ...intestinal I/R and the role of gut microbiota metabolites on ferroptosis-induced intestinal I/R injury. This study aimed to establish a mouse intestinal I/R model and ileum organoid hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model to explore the changes of the gut microbiota and metabolites during intestinal I/R and protective ability of capsiate (CAT) against ferroptosis-dependent intestinal I/R injury. Intestinal I/R induced disturbance of gut microbiota and significant changes in metabolites. We found that CAT is a metabolite of the gut microbiota and that CAT levels in the preoperative stool of patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass were negatively correlated with intestinal I/R injury. Furthermore, CAT reduced ferroptosis-dependent intestinal I/R injury in vivo and in vitro. However, the protective effects of CAT against ferroptosis-dependent intestinal I/R injury were abolished by RSL3, an inhibitor of glutathione peroxidase 4 (Gpx4), which is a negative regulator of ferroptosis. We also found that the ability of CAT to promote Gpx4 expression and inhibit ferroptosis-dependent intestinal I/R injury was abrogated by JNJ-17203212, an antagonist of transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1). This study suggests that the gut microbiota metabolite CAT enhances Gpx4 expression and inhibits ferroptosis by activating TRPV1 in intestinal I/R injury, providing a potential avenue for the management of intestinal I/R injury.
Background
Myocardial injury is a major complication of sepsis and a key factor affecting prognosis. Therefore, early and accurate diagnosis and timely management of sepsis‐induced cardiomyopathy ...(SICM) are of great significance for the prevention and treatment of sepsis. The gut microbiota has been shown to be closely associated with sepsis or myocardial injury, but the association between the gut microbiota and SICM is not fully understood. This study aimed to explore the link between gut microbiota composition and SICM.
Methods
A case‒control and single‐center study of clinical features and gut microbiota profiles by Metagenome and Virome was conducted in SICM patients (n = 15) and sepsis‐uninduced cardiomyopathy patients (SNICM, n = 16).
Results
Compared with SNICM patients, SICM patients showed significant myocardial injury and higher 28‐day mortality, SOFA scores, lactate levels, and infection levels on admission. Meanwhile, differences in the composition of gut bacteria, archaea, fungi, and viruses were analyzed between the two groups. Differential gut bacteria or viruses were found to have a good predictive effect on SICM. Furthermore, gut bacteria and viruses that differed between the two groups were strongly related. The abundance of Cronobacter and Cronobacter phage was higher in the SICM group than in the SNICM group, and the receiver operating characteristic curve showed that Cronobacter and Cronobacter phage both had a good predictive effect on SICM.
Conclusions
SICM patients may have specific gut microbiota signatures, and Cronobacter and Cronobacter phages have a good ability to identify and diagnose SICM.

The impact of mitochondrial dysfunction on the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease is increasing. However, the precise underlying mechanism remains unclear. Mitochondria produce cellular energy ...through oxidative phosphorylation while regulating calcium homeostasis, cellular respiration, and the production of biosynthetic chemicals. Nevertheless, problems related to cardiac energy metabolism, defective mitochondrial proteins, mitophagy, and structural changes in mitochondrial membranes can cause cardiovascular diseases via mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitofilin is a critical inner mitochondrial membrane protein that maintains cristae structure and facilitates protein transport while linking the inner mitochondrial membrane, outer mitochondrial membrane, and mitochondrial DNA transcription. Researchers believe that mitofilin may be a therapeutic target for treating cardiovascular diseases, particularly cardiac mitochondrial dysfunctions. In this review, we highlight current findings regarding the role of mitofilin in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and potential therapeutic compounds targeting mitofilin.

Then, we perform the spectral analysis of this burst based on nondissipated photospheric emission, which can be well modeled by a multicolor blackbody with a cutoff power-law distribution of the thermal temperature. The spectral fittings reveal that the photospheric emission can well describe the radiation spectrum of this burst. We conclude that this burst would be a second burst in the class of GRB 090902B observed by the Fermi satellite. We also discuss the physics of the photosphere and the origin of the high-energy component in GRB 220426A.

The detection of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in magnetar giant flares (GFs) has brought a new perspective to studies of the mechanism of magnetar bursts. Due to the scarcity of GFs, ...searching for QPOs in magnetar short bursts is reasonable. Here we report the detection of a narrow QPO at approximately 110 Hz and a wide QPO at approximately 60 Hz in the short magnetar burst SGR 150228213, with a confidence level of 3.35

. This burst was initially attributed to 4U 0142+61 by Fermi/GBM on location, but we have not detected such QPOs in other bursts from this magnetar. We also found that there was a repeating fast radio burst associated with SGR 150228213 on location. Finally, we discuss the possible origins of SGR 150228213.
Nitric oxide (NO) is a key signaling molecule regulating several plant developmental and stress responses. Here, we report that NO plays an important role in seed oil content and fatty acid ...composition. RNAi silencing of Arabidopsis S-nitrosoglutathione reductase 1 (GSNOR1) led to reduced seed oil content. In contrast, nitrate reductase double mutant nia1nia2 had increased seed oil content, compared with wild-type plants. Moreover, the concentrations of palmitic acid (C16:0), linoleic acid (C18:2), and linolenic acid (C18:3) were higher, whereas those of stearic acid (C18:0), oleic acid (C18:1), and arachidonic acid (C20:1) were lower, in seeds of GSNOR1 RNAi lines. Similar results were obtained with rapeseed embryos cultured in vitro with the NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP), and the NO inhibitor NG-Nitro-L-arginine Methyl Ester (L-NAME). Compared with non-treated embryos, the oil content decreased in SNP-treated embryos, and increased in L-NAME-treated embryos. Relative concentrations of C16:0, C18:2 and C18:3 were higher, whereas C18:1 concentration decreased in rapeseed embryos treated with SNP. Proteomics and transcriptome analysis revealed that three S-nitrosated proteins and some key genes involved in oil synthesis, were differentially regulated in SNP-treated embryos. Therefore, regulating NO content could be a novel approach to increasing seed oil content in cultivated oil crops.
