A behavioral modeling technique suited to capturing the response of wide-band multifunctional and multichannel amplifiers is introduced. The technique is based on the three-box approximation of the ...Volterra model and takes into account the dependence of the amplifier characteristics on frequency. The model is coupled with a new nonlinear statistical analysis, which enables accurate estimation of intermodulation and cross-modulation distortions of multiple digitally modulated signals. The model parameters can be obtained using simple measurements.
This paper presents a curriculum design approach for a Masters Programme in Telecommunications Management based on demand data obtained from surveying the needs of potential students of the proposed ...programme. Through online surveys disseminated at telecom companies in Jordan, it was possible to measure the demand for such a programme and to determine the required programme contents and specifications. The curriculum design is based on definition of programme outcomes and on using a house of quality approach (HOQ) to determine the list of courses required in the programme. Surveyed competencies are mapped to a long list of proposed courses in a HOQ in order to determine the importance of each of these courses. A final list of core and elective courses is then developed considering the contribution to programme outcomes and the academic standards.

Intracranial hypotension is a result of low Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure caused by either spontaneous or postoperative leakage. The classic presentation of spontaneous intracranial hypotension ...is acute orthostatic headache, but the diagnosis can sometimes be challenging as some patients may present with atypical initial presentations including cervical pain as well as cervical radiculopathy secondary to cervical spine venous engorgement. We described a 42-year-old female patient who presented initially with neuropathic pain symptoms as well as weakness involving both lower extremities for which she underwent diagnostic lumbar puncture with concern regarding demyelinating neuropathy. However, subsequently she developed postural headache as well as severe cervical pain which was attributed to cervical epidural venous engorgement in setting of intracranial hypotension based on cervical spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings. She was managed conservatively, and repeated cervical spine MRI 3 days later showed prominent improvement in the imaging findings. Spinal epidural venous engorgement can occur secondary to intracranial hypotension (mainly post lumbar puncture), and can present clinically with neck pain or even symptoms of radiculopathy. Since the findings can mimic more serious conditions, it is extremely important to consider this condition in the differential diagnosis of an enhancing epidural collection in the cervical spine, particularly when intracranial hypotension is suspected.

Purpose The present study estimated the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Patients and Methods A study group consisting of 60 ...adult patients (34 women and 26 men) diagnosed with GERD was matched by age and gender to a control group of 60 patients without any signs or symptoms of GERD. The diagnosis of TMD was established using the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders. Results Of the 60 patients in the study group, 22 (36.6%) had TMD compared with 11 (18.3%) in the control group ( P = .025). Most patients with TMD in both groups were diagnosed with myofascial pain: 19 (31.7%) in the study group versus 9 (15%) in the control group ( P = .031). Conclusions The increased TMD prevalence in patients with GERD should be explored further to better characterize the association between TMD and GERD. The physicians treating the 2 disorders should consider the clinical implications of this association.
