Symptoms in these cases ...were nonspecific and no children required respiratory support or intensive care. Chest X-rays lacked definite signs of pneumonia, a defining feature of the infection in adult cases. Notably, eight children persistently tested positive on rectal swabs even after nasopharyngeal testing was negative, raising the possibility of fecal-oral transmission.

Endothelial glycocalyx degradation, critical for increased pulmonary vascular permeability, is thought to facilitate the development of sepsis into the multiple organ failure. Maresin conjugates in ...tissue regeneration 1 (MCTR1), a macrophage‐derived lipid mediator, which exhibits potentially beneficial effects via the regulation of bacterial phagocytosis, promotion of inflammation resolution, and regeneration of tissue. In this study, we show that MCTR1 (100 ng/mouse) enhances the survival of mice with lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced (15 mg/kg) sepsis. MCTR1 alleviates LPS (10 mg/kg)‐induced lung dysfunction and lung tissue inflammatory response by decreasing inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor‐α, interleukin‐1β IL‐1β, and IL‐6) expression in serum and reducing the serum levels of heparan sulfate (HS) and syndecan‐1. In human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) experiments, MCTR1 (100 nM) was added to the culture medium with LPS for 6 hr. MCTR1 treatment markedly inhibited HS degradation by downregulating heparanase (HPA) protein expression in vivo and in vitro. Further analyses indicated that MCTR1 upregulates sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) expression and decreases NF‐κB p65 phosphorylation. In the presence of BOC‐2 or EX527, the above effects of MCTR1 were abolished. These results suggest that MCTR1 protects against LPS‐induced sepsis in mice by attenuating pulmonary endothelial glycocalyx injury via the ALX/SIRT1/NF‐κB/HPA pathway.

We perform bulge–disk decomposition in M81 images at a total of 20 wave bands from ...far-UV to near-IR (NIR) obtained with GALEX, Swift, Sloan Digital Sky Survey, WIYN, Two Micron All Sky Survey, Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, and Spitzer. Morphological parameters such as Sérsic index, effective radius, position angle, and axis ratio for the bulge and the disk are thus derived at all of the wave bands, which enables quantifying the morphological

-correction for M81 and makes it possible to reproduce images for the bulge and the disk in the galaxy at any wave band. The morphology as a function of wavelength appears as a variable-slope trend of the Sérsic index and the effective radius, in which the variations are steep at UV–optical and shallow at optical–NIR bands; the position angle and the axis ratio keep invariable at least at optical–NIR bands. It is worth noting that the Sérsic index for the bulge reaches ∼4–5 at optical and NIR bands, but drops to ∼1 at UV bands. This difference brings forward a caveat that a classical bulge is likely misidentified for a pseudobulge or no bulge at high redshifts where galaxies are observed through rest-frame UV channels with optical telescopes. The next work of this series is planned to study spatially resolved spectral energy distributions for the bulge and the disk, respectively, and thereby explore stellar population properties and star formation/quenching history for the galaxy composed of the subsystems.
Iron is an essential metal ion in the human body and usually dysregulated in cancers. However, a comprehensive overview of the iron‐related genes and their clinical relevance in cancer is lacking. In ...this study, we utilized the expression profiling, proteomics, and epigenetics from the Cancer Genome Atlas database to systematically characterized the alterations of iron‐related genes. There were multiple iron‐related genes with dysregulation across 14 cancers and some of these ectopic changes may be associated with aberrant DNA methylation. Meanwhile, a variety of genes were significantly associated with patient survival, especially in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma. Then differentially expressed genes were validated in clinical samples. Finally, we found deferoxamine and erastin could inhibit proliferation in various tumor cells and influence the expression of several iron‐related genes. Overall, our study provides a comprehensive analysis of iron metabolism across cancers and highlights the potential treatment of iron targeted therapies for cancers.
We systematically analyzed dysregulation of iron metabolism genes using transcriptomics, epigenomics and proteomics data from the TCGA project. Our results showed that iron metabolism was dysregulated across different cancer types.

Waterjet peening has become a critical surface treatment technology due to its great potential for improving the surface integrity and fatigue performance of metallic materials. The present study aims to investigate the influence of submerged micro-abrasive waterjet peening (SMA-WJP) on the surface integrity and fatigue properties of TA19 titanium alloy. First, the SMA-WJP with different water pressure (P = 70, 100, and 130 MPa) was conducted on the TA19 specimen. The surface integrity of the specimen before and after SMA-WJP treatment was studied, including the microstructure, surface roughness, microscopic morphology, microhardness, and residual stress. Results showed that the SMA-WJP treated specimen with different water pressure formed a plastic deformation layer with a depth of 24–44 μm, the minimum surface roughness of Ra = 0.363 μm and Sa = 0.95 μm. The depth of the work-hardened layer and compressive residual stress (CRS) layer was approximately 100–150 μm and 160–290 μm. The microstructure evolution on the top surface and sub-surface of the as-received and SMA-WJP treated specimens were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which showed that nanocrystals with an average size of 12 nm and high density of dislocations formed on the top surface of the SMA-WJP treated specimen. Finally, stress-controlled high-cycle fatigue (HCF) tests were carried out to study the fatigue behavior of the TA19 titanium alloy before and after SMA-WJP treatment. The HCF life of the specimen is increased by a maximum of 2.72 times. The fatigue fracture surface was examined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which revealed that the existence of the plastic deformation layer and large CRS induced by SMA-WJP could effectively inhibit the initiation and propagation of cracks. This work enriches the waterjet peening process by investigating submerged abrasive waterjet peening and brings a new solution for improving the surface integrity and fatigue performance of TA19 titanium alloy.

Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) is a topic that has become increasingly important in recent years. However, very few papers focus on studying SSCM from both leadership and learning ...perspectives. In this research, we carry out a content-based literature review on the intersections of Supply Chain leadership, Supply Chain Learning and SSCM; we propose a conceptual framework on how focal companies assuming a leadership role initiate and disseminate sustainable practices in their supply chains. Three types of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) strategies (i.e., reactive, contributive and proactive) have been identified in this research based on four dimensions of SSCM governance, supply chain learning, supply chain leadership and SSCM performance. It is argued that two new constructs of supply chain learning and supply chain leadership are an integral part of the SSCM conceptual framework developed from the literature and have significant implication to our understanding of SSCM.

The effects of different curing temperature (within the range 20 to 100°C) on electrical conductivity in geopolymerization process were systematically discussed with Impedance Analyzer. The ...variations of setting time conducted by Vicat apparatus can be described as the influence of curing temperatures on the geopolymerization of metakaolin-based geopolymers. Simultaneously, the impacts on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the geopolymer samples are discussed. The results indicated that elevating curing temperature will accelerate the dissolution, polymerization, reprecipitation processes of the geopolymerization reaction. The optimum curing temperature of geopolymer is about 60°C at which the geopolymer samples present the best mechanical properties with the compressive strength of 97.95MPa after cured for 7days.

γ
-ray quasiperiodic oscillation of PG 1553+113. In this model, we hypothesize that a relativistic jet with constant angular velocity ...rotates around the axis, causing the Doppler factor of the jet to vary over time, leading to periodic changes in flux. In addition, we consider that the parameters of the emission field vary slightly during the observation period and can be obtained by directly fitting their multiwavelength spectra. Then, we use the resulting emission field information and the model to reproduce the light curve. Our model successfully explains the 2.18 ± 0.08 yr
γ
quasiperiodic oscillation of PG 1553+113, which is consistent with previous studies. Most importantly, we notice an upward trend in the light curve, and we suggest that this upward trend is due to long-term variability with a timescale of ∼42 yr.
