Intuitionistic fuzzy set theory is a generalized version of classical fuzzy set theory, where membership degree of acceptance and membership degree of rejection are both measured. In the present ...study, we formulate a balanced transportation problem with multiple objectives having all parameters and variables as intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. The problem is first reduced to a crisp multiobjective transportation problem using accuracy function on each objective function and then an algorithm is proposed to solve the problem. In the solution procedure, linear, exponential and hyperbolic membership functions are used to tackle intuitionistic fuzzy constraints related with each objective. To show the relations among the intuitionistic fuzzy transportation problem, its equivalent crisp formulation and the problems obtained by applying different membership functions, various theorems are established. Finally, two numerical examples are illustrated to clarify the steps involved in the proposed algorithm and to draw the comparison among linear, exponential and hyperbolic membership functions.

The genus Burkholderia contains large number of diverse species which include many clinically important organisms, phytopathogens, as well as environmental species. However, currently, there is a ...paucity of biochemical or molecular characteristics which can reliably distinguish different groups of Burkholderia species. We report here the results of detailed phylogenetic and comparative genomic analyses of 45 sequenced species of the genus Burkholderia. In phylogenetic trees based upon concatenated sequences for 21 conserved proteins as well as 16S rRNA gene sequence based trees, members of the genus Burkholderia grouped into two major clades. Within these main clades a number of smaller clades including those corresponding to the clinically important Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) and the Burkholderia pseudomallei groups were also clearly distinguished. Our comparative analysis of protein sequences from Burkholderia spp. has identified 42 highly specific molecular markers in the form of conserved sequence indels (CSIs) that are uniquely found in a number of well-defined groups of Burkholderia spp. Six of these CSIs are specific for a group of Burkholderia spp. (referred to as Clade I in this work) which contains all clinically relevant members of the genus (viz. the BCC and the B. pseudomallei group) as well as the phytopathogenic Burkholderia spp. The second main clade (Clade II), which is composed of environmental Burkholderia species, is also distinguished by 2 identified CSIs that are specific for this group. Additionally, our work has also identified multiple CSIs that serve to clearly demarcate a number of smaller groups of Burkholderia spp. including 3 CSIs that are specific for the B. cepacia complex, 4 CSIs that are uniquely found in the B. pseudomallei group, 5 CSIs that are specific for the phytopathogenic Burkholderia spp. and 22 other CSI that distinguish two groups within Clade II. The described molecular markers provide highly specific means for the demarcation of different groups of Burkholderia spp. and they also offer novel and useful targets for the development of diagnostic assays for the clinically important members of the BCC or the pseudomallei groups. Based upon the results of phylogenetic analyses, the identified CSIs and the pathogenicity profile of Burkholderia species, we are proposing a division of the genus Burkholderia into two genera. In this new proposal, the emended genus Burkholderia will correspond to the Clade I and it will contain only the clinically relevant and phytopathogenic Burkholderia species. All other Burkholderia spp., which are primarily environmental, will be transferred to a new genus Paraburkholderia gen. nov.
Aim
In addition to respiratory symptoms, COVID‐19 can present with gastrointestinal complaints suggesting possible faeco‐oral transmission. The primary aim of this review was to establish the ...incidence and timing of positive faecal samples for SARS‐CoV‐2 in patients with COVID‐19.
Methods
A systematic literature review identified studies describing COVID‐19 patients tested for faecal virus. Search terms for MEDLINE included ‘clinical’, ‘faeces’, ‘gastrointestinal secretions’, ‘stool’, ‘COVID‐19’, ‘SARS‐CoV‐2’ and ‘2019‐nCoV’. Additional searches were done in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology, Gut, Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the World Health Organization Database, the Centre for Evidence‐Based Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, social media and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, bioRxiv and medRxiv preprints. Data were extracted concerning the type of test, number and timing of positive samples, incidence of positive faecal tests after negative nasopharyngeal swabs and evidence of viable faecal virus or faeco‐oral transmission of the virus.
Results
Twenty‐six relevant articles were identified. Combining study results demonstrated that 53.9% of those tested for faecal RNA were positive. The duration of faecal viral shedding ranged from 1 to 33 days after a negative nasopharyngeal swab with one result remaining positive 47 days after onset of symptoms. There is insufficient evidence to suggest that COVID‐19 is transmitted via faecally shed virus.
Conclusion
There is a high rate of positive polymerase chain reaction tests with persistence of SARS‐CoV‐2 in faecal samples of patients with COVID‐19. Further research is needed to confirm if this virus is viable and the degree of transmission through the faeco‐oral route. This may have important implications on isolation, recommended precautions and protective equipment for interventional procedures involving the gastrointestinal tract.

This review addresses the prevalence of zinc deficiency in Low‐ and Middle‐income Countries (LMICs) and assesses the available strategies for its alleviation. The paucity of national‐level data on ...the zinc deficiency in LMICs is partially a result of the lack of a reliable biomarker. Zinc deficiency appears to be a public health problem in almost all the LMICs, irrespective of the recommended indicators (plasma zinc concentration, dietary zinc adequacy and stunting prevalence) used. Based on plasma/serum zinc concentration (PZC), which is the most appropriate indicator at present, the prevalence of zinc deficiency in LMICs is of concern. Among the 25 countries for which national PZC data were available, 23 had a zinc deficiency prevalence of >20% for at least one physiological group. Zinc supplementation is largely restricted as an adjunct therapy for diarrhoea management in children, and the best platform and the most effective way of preventive zinc supplementation delivery remains to be established. Impact assessment for current zinc fortification programmes in LMICs and the effectiveness of zinc supplementation as part of a multi‐micronutrient powder is to be determined. Dietary diversification, though promising for LMICs, is in the nascent stages of development at present. Inclusion of meat and animal products can be an important way of improving zinc status. Programmatic experience with the promotion of home processing techniques to increase absorbable zinc in the diet is lacking. Conventional biofortification techniques are gaining recognition in LMICs; however, transgenic biofortification as a strategy remains controversial.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a neonatal pathology in which intrathoracic herniation of abdominal viscera via diaphragmatic defect results in aberrant pulmonary and cardiovascular ...development. Despite decades of study and many advances in the diagnosis and treatment of CDH, morbidity and mortality remain high, largely due to pulmonary hypertension (PH), along with pulmonary hypoplasia and cardiac dysfunction. In patients with CDH, hypoplastic pulmonary vasculature and alterations in multiple molecular pathways lead to pathophysiologic pulmonary vasculopathy and, for severe CDH, sustained, elevated pulmonary arterial pressures. This review addresses the multiple anatomic and physiologic changes that underlie CDH-associated PH (CDH-PH), along with the multimodal treatment strategies that exist currently and future therapies currently under investigation.

There is an increasing need for rapid, low cost, reusable, reliable and sensitive detection systems for diagnosing infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, rapidly advancing cancers and detecting ...the presence of environmental pollutants. Most traditional methods are invasive, slow, expensive and laborious, requiring highly specialized instruments. Introduction of biosensors with nanomaterials as transducers of signals have helped in removing the disadvantages associated with traditional detectors. The properties of high mechanical strength, better electrical conductivity and ability to serve as efficient signal transducers make carbon nanotubes (CNTs) ideal material for biosensor applications among the gamut of nanomaterials. Further, CNTs with their high surface areas, easily functionalizable surfaces for receptor immobilization are gaining importance in the construction of biosensors. The expanding field of CNTs bridges the physical sciences with biology, as chemical methods are employed to develop novel tools and platforms for understanding biological systems, in disease diagnosis and treatment. This review presents recent advances in surface functionalization of CNTs necessary for immobilization of enzymes and antibodies for biosensor applications and the methodologies used for the detection of a number of chemical and biological species. The review ends with a speculation on future prospects for CNTs in biology and medicine.

This work reports, for the first time, Co-Mo-B as a bifunctional electrocatalyst, prepared by a facile reduction method. The optimized catalyst, Co-3Mo-B shows excellent HER ...performance and achieves 10mA/cm2 at mere 96 and 66mV (vs RHE) in pH 7 and pH 14, respectively with good stability (40hours) and reusability (5000 cycles). Co-3Mo-B catalyst is found to be made up of nano-sized crystalline domains, separated by grain boundaries containing active under-co-ordinated sites. From morphological, physico-chemical and electrochemical analyses, it was found that Co-3Mo-B nanoparticles (NPs) exhibit small size (∼18nm) with high specific and electrochemical surface area. Under alkaline conditions, Co-3Mo-B can also produce oxygen at meagre overpotentials (10mA/cm2 at 320mV) with favourable stability. Bifunctional property is demonstrated by employing Co-3Mo-B in a 2-electrode alkaline cell to execute overall water electrolysis, producing 10mA/cm2 at just 1.69V, which is maintained for at least 25hours of operation. The nature of the catalyst to form Co oxide/hydroxide species on the surface is responsible for good OER performance. The significant activity of Co-3Mo-B makes it the best metal boride bifunctional electrocatalyst reported so far.

Members from the order Bifidobacteriales, which include many species exhibiting health promoting effects, differ from all other organisms in using a unique pathway for carbohydrate metabolism, known ...as the "bifid shunt", which utilizes the enzyme phosphoketolase (PK) to carry out the phosphorolysis of both fructose-6-phosphate (F6P) and xylulose-5-phosphate (X5P). In contrast to bifidobacteria, the PKs found in other organisms (referred to XPK) are able to metabolize primarily X5P and show very little activity towards F6P. Presently, very little is known about the molecular or biochemical basis of the differences in the two forms of PKs. Comparative analyses of PK sequences from different organisms reported here have identified multiple high-specific sequence features in the forms of conserved signature inserts and deletions (CSIs) in the PK sequences that clearly distinguish the X5P/F6P phosphoketolases (XFPK) of bifidobacteria from the XPK homologs found in most other organisms. Interestingly, most of the molecular signatures that are specific for the XFPK from bifidobacteria are also shared by the PK homologs from the Coriobacteriales order of Actinobacteria. Similarly to the Bifidobacteriales, the order Coriobacteriales is also made up of commensal organisms, that are saccharolytic and able to metabolize wide variety of carbohydrates, producing lactate and other metabolites. Phylogenetic studies provide evidence that the XFPK from bifidobacteria are specifically related to those found in the Coriobacteriales and suggest that the gene for PK (XFPK) was horizontally transferred between these two groups. A number of the identified CSIs in the XFPK sequence, which serve to distinguish the XFPK homologs from XPK homologs, are located at the subunit interface in the structure of the XFPK dimer protein. The results of protein modelling and subunit docking studies indicate that these CSIs are involved in the formation/stabilization of the protein dimer. The significance of these observations regarding the differences in the activities of the XFPK and XPK homologs are discussed. Additionally, this work also discusses the significance of the XFPK-like homologs, similar to those found in bifidobacteria, in the order Coriobacteriales.
