We present a new measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| from B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ decays, reconstructed with the full Belle data set of 711 fb−1 integrated luminosity. Two form ...factor parametrizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and the decay form factors, where F(1) is the normalization factor and ηEW is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parametrization we find F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(35.06±0.15±0.56)×10−3, ρ2=1.106±0.031±0.007, R1(1)=1.229±0.028±0.009, R2(1)=0.852±0.021±0.006. For the BGL parametrization we obtain F(1)ηEW|Vcb|=(34.93±0.23±0.59)×10−3, which is consistent with the world average when correcting for F(1)ηEW. The branching fraction of B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ is measured to be B(B0→D*−ℓ+νℓ)=(4.90±0.02±0.16)%. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic B decays, B(B0→D*−e+ν)B(B0→D*−μ+ν)=1.01±0.01±0.03. The errors quoted correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties, respectively. This is the most precise measurement of F(1)ηEW|Vcb| and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parametrization in an experimental measurement.

Using a data sample of 921.9 fb-1 collected with the Belle detector, we study the process of $e^+e^- → D^+_s D_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$ via initial-state radiation. We report the first observation of a ...vector charmoniumlike state decaying to $D^+_s D_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$ with a significance of $5.9σ$, including systematic uncertainties. The measured mass and width are $(4625.9^{+6.2}_{-6.0}$(stat)$±0.4$(syst)) MeV/$c_2$ and ($49.8^{+13.9}_{-11.5}$(stat)$±4.0$(syst)) MeV, respectively. The product of the $e^+e^- → D^+_s D_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$ cross section and the branching fraction of $D_{s1}(2536)^- → \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ is measured from the $D_s \bar{D}_{s1}(2536)$ threshold to $5.59$ GeV.

We report a search for a heavy neutral lepton (HNL) that mixes predominantly with ν τ . The search utilizes data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e + e − collider. The ...data sample was collected at and just below the center-of-mass energies of the ϒ ( 4 S ) and ϒ ( 5 S ) resonances and has an integrated luminosity of 915 fb − 1 , corresponding to ( 836 ± 12 ) × 10 6 e + e − → τ + τ − events. We search for production of the HNL (denoted N ) in the decay τ − → π − N followed by its decay via N → μ + μ − ν τ . The search focuses on the parameter-space region in which the HNL is long-lived, so that the μ + μ − originate from a common vertex that is significantly displaced from the collision point of the KEKB beams. Consistent with the expected background yield, one event is observed in the data sample after application of all the event-selection criteria. We report limits on the mixing parameter of the HNL with the τ neutrino as a function of the HNL mass. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

We report the first measurement of the Michel parameter ξ′ in the τ−→μ−¯νμντ decay with a new method proposed just recently. The measurement is based on the reconstruction of the τ−→μ−¯νμντ events ...with subsequent muon decay in flight in the Belle central drift chamber. The analyzed data sample of 988 fb−1 collected by the Belle detector corresponds to approximately 912×106 τ+τ− pairs. We measure ξ′=0.22±0.94(stat)±0.42(syst), which is in agreement with the standard model prediction of ξ′=1. Statistical uncertainty dominates in this study, being a limiting factor, while systematic uncertainty is well under control. Our analysis proved the practicability of this promising method and its prospects for further precise measurement in future experiments.

We present a search for the lepton-flavour-violating decays $B^+ \to K^+ \tau^\pm \ell^\mp$, with $\ell = (e, \mu)$, using the full data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs recorded by ...the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We use events in which one $B$ meson is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode. We find no evidence for $B^\pm \to K^\pm \tau \ell$ decays and set upper limits on their branching fractions at the 90% confidence level in the $(1$-$3) \times 10^{-5}$ range. The obtained limits are the world's best results.

We present an analysis of the exclusive B+ → π+ π− ℓ+ νℓ decay, where ℓ represents an electron or a muon, with the assumption of charge-conjugation symmetry and lepton universality. The study ...exploits the full Υ ( 4 S ) data sample collected by the Belle detector, corresponding to 711 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. Events are selected by fully reconstructing one B meson in hadronic decay modes, subsequently determining the properties of the other B meson. We extract the signal yields using a binned maximum-likelihood fit to the missing-mass squared distribution in bins of the invariant mass of the two pions or the momentum transfer squared. We measure a total branching fraction of B(B+ → π+ π− ℓ+ νℓ) = 22.7+1.9 −1.6 (stat) ± 3.5(syst) × 10−5, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This result is the first reported measurement of this decay.

We report the first search for a non-standard-model resonance decaying into $\tau$ pairs in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow \mu^{+}\mu^{-} \tau^+\tau^-$ events in the 3.6-10 GeV/$c^{2}$ mass range. We use a ...62.8 fb$^{-1}$ sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axion-like particle, respectively. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at 90% confidence level on the product of cross section and branching fraction into $\tau$ pairs, ranging from 0.7 fb to 24 fb, and on the couplings of these processes. We obtain world-leading constraints on the couplings for the leptophilic scalar model for masses above 6.5 GeV/$c^2$ and for the axion-like particle model over the entire mass range.

We study $B^{+}\to \pi^{+}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}$ using 711 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ of data collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. We ...measure an inclusive branching fraction of $(19.0\pm 1.5\pm 1.4)\times 10^{-6}$ and an inclusive \textit{CP} asymmetry of $(9.2 \pm 6.8 \pm 0.7)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic; and a $B^{+}\to \rho(770)^{+}\pi^{0}$ branching fraction of $(11.2\pm 1.1\pm 0.9 ^{+0.8}_{-1.6})\times 10^{-6}$, where the third uncertainty is due to possible interference with $B^{+}\to \rho(1450)^{+}\pi^{0}$. We present the first observation of a structure around 1 GeV/$c^{2}$ in the $\pi^{0}\pi^{0}$ mass spectrum, with a significance of 6.4$\sigma$, and measure a branching fraction to be $(6.9\pm 0.9\pm 0.6)\times 10^{-6}$. We also report a measurement of local \textit{CP} asymmetry in this structure.
