Molybdenum oxide (MoOx) thin films were prepared by pulse DC sputtering using a molybdenum target and their optical and electrochromic properties were investigated. These MoOx thin films were ...reactively sputter-deposited at various oxygen flow rates. The effects of the oxygen flow rate on the growth and microstructure of the molybdenum oxide films were examined using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The optical density and modulation of the MoOx films were analyzed using a UV/VIS spectrophotometer (UV–visible). Electrochromic tests were conducted using an electrochemical analyzer. Experimental results reveal that the electrochromic properties depended strongly on the crystalline phase, thickness, chemical composition and microstructure, which were controlled by varying the oxygen flow rate.
•MoOx thin films were deposited by bipolar pulsed magnetron sputtering of pure Mo targets.•Increasing oxygen flow rate resulted in the crystal structure of MoO3 which favors the electrochromic properties.•The maximum optical modulation for 25-sccm oxygen partial pressure coating are 19.2% at 400 nm, 36.2% at 550 nm, and 41.7% at 800 nm, respectively.

Mobile Edge Computing and Communication (MECC) can be deployed in close proximity with sensing devices and act as middleware between cloud and local networks. The health and fitness movement has ...become extremely popular recently. Endurance activities, such as marathons, triathlons, and cycling have also grown in popularity. However, with more people participating in these activities, more accidents and injuries occur—ranging from heat stroke, to heart attacks, shock, or hypoxia. All physical training activities include a risk of injury and accidents. Therefore, any research that offers a means of reducing injury risk will significantly contribute to the personal fitness field. Moreover, with the growing popularity of wearable devices and the rise of the MECC, the development and application of wearable devices that can connect to the MECC has become widespread, producing many new innovations. Although many wearable devices, such as wrist straps and smart watches, are available and able to detect individual physiological data, they cannot monitor the human body in a state of motion. Therefore, this study proposes a set of monitoring parameters for a novel wearable device connected to the MECC based on fitness management to assist fitness trainers in effective prompted strength training, and to offer timely warnings in the event of an injury risk. The data collected by the monitoring device using fuzzy theory include risk factor, body temperature, heart rate, and blood oxygen concentration. The proposed system can display in real-time the current physiological state of a wearer/user. The introduction of this device will hopefully enable trainers to immediately and effectively control and monitor the intensity of a training session, while increasing training safety, and offer crucial and immediate diagnostic information so that the correct treatment can be applied without delay in the event of injury.

Ten alkaloids (1–10), with sophoridine (1) as the most abundant component, were obtained from the whole plants of Oxytropis ochrocephala Bunge. Furthermore, eight new sophoridine ...derivatives (11–16, 20, 21), with modification on the C-14 position of 1 were synthesized. All compounds (1–16, 20, 21) were evaluated for antiproliferative activity against five human tumor cell lines. Among them, the newly synthesized derivative 20 exhibited the best inhibitory activity against the tested cell lines. Its activity was increased by more than fourfold as compared with parent compound 1.

Abstract Primary melanoma of the central nervous system is a rare melanocytic tumor typically located in the leptomeninges. We report a 57-year-old woman with an intracranial leptomeningeal melanoma ...who presented with myoclonic seizures. Brain CT scan and MRI revealed a hemorrhagic intracranial tumor. The tumor was completely removed and leptomeningeal melanoma was proven pathologically. Follow-up imaging studies up to 19 months showed no recurrence of the disease. Here we present radiological, gross, and pathological images of leptomeningeal melanoma, discuss its characteristics, and review the relevant literature.

The sterically polymer-based liposomal complexes (SPLexes) were formed by cationic polymeric liposomes and pH-sensitive diblock copolymer were studied for their capabilities in improving the ...stability with high efficiency of siRNA delivery. The SPLexes were formed a dual-shelled structure and uniform size distribution. The PEGylated outer shell could mitigate the phagocytosis and reduce the cytotoxicity. Moreover, the folated SPLexes improved 42.9× accumulation in vitro and 1.7× tumor uptake in vivo in contrast with nonfolated SPLexes. The protonated copolymer at low pH would improve the siRNA released into cytoplasm following SPLexes fusion with the endo/lysosome membrane and inhibited the protein expression to 75.6 ± 4.5% efficiently. Results of this study significantly contribute to efforts to develop lipoplexes based siRNA delivery systems.
