Stroke is a disease whose consequences have a considerable impact on the quality of the patient's life. It is a widespread disease that has a disabling impact on life and, in addition to physical ...changes, brings about a number of psychological and cognitive processes.
The goal of the study was to identify and describe the quality of life of post-stroke patients.
The study design was quantitative. A questionnaire of the authors' own design and the SF-36 questionnaire were used to obtain the data.
Significant differences in patient quality of life were identified in relation to patient gender. Moreover, the quality of life in all individual SF-36 dimensions, except for mental health, deteriorated with age. With regard to occupational placement, employed respondents gave the highest evaluation of quality of life according to SF-36 and old-age pensioners the lowest. The analysis shows that quality of life in individual dimensions is positively influenced by respondents' higher education. The evaluation in individual dimensions improves with the time that has passed since the stroke.
The quality of life of post-stroke patients deteriorates with age. The deteriorating level of patient quality of life in older age requires programmes that include assessments and interventions that lead to the treatment of these patients.
Objective: The main goal of the study was to find out the general public's awareness of stroke, the relations between the awareness of stroke and socio-demographic factors, and awareness of stroke ...and experience of stroke. Methods: The combination of a non-standardized questionnaire on the stroke prevention and a standardized questionnaire on the identification of the general health literacy (HLSQ-16) was used. The sample was chosen using a quota choice. The sample structure corresponded with the composition of the Czech population with regard to regions, sex and age. These features were determined as representative. The sample consisted of 1,004 respondents. Results: The general awareness of stroke is high in the Czech Republic. Most of the respondents (97.2%) stated that they had ever heard of stroke. This basic awareness is influenced by the sex and marital status of the respondents. Almost one half (42.2%) of the general public would welcome more information on stroke. Women showed significantly higher interest in the information than men. Significantly higher interest could be seen in elderly respondents while younger respondents said significantly more frequently that they were not interested in the information. Married respondents showed a significantly higher degree of awareness. Rural respondents expressed higher interest in the information. The interest in the information dropped with higher education. The interest was significantly influenced by the respondents' sex, place of residence, marital status, and education. Almost 1/4 (24.3%) of respondents mentioned stroke incidence in their families. Our study proved that this incidence significantly varied in dependence on the respondents' sex, age, marital status and education. Further questions were focused on the sources of information on stroke. The most important sources include internet, which was named by nearly one half (48.6%) of respondents, and it was found that women could use the sources of information more frequently than men. Women used all sources of information on stroke (internet, television, families, GPs) more than men. Conclusion: The Czech respondents' interest in stroke is significantly influenced by their sex, age, place of residence, marital status, and the respondents' education. The findings play a role in the focus on preventive activities in this area. It is necessary to implement the general public education not only in general practitioners' offices but also in mass media in order to improve the awareness of stroke.

Úvod: Simulační strategie je ve světě velmi oblíbená technika pro výuku ošetřovatelství. Jedním z mnoha benefitů je realizace předem připravených situací v bezpečném prostředí. Zavedení simulace do ...teoretické přípravy je velmi přínosné nejen pro studenty, ale také pro lektory i samotnou fakultu. Cíl: Prozkoumat efektivitu simulačního procesu pro výuku ošetřovatelství. Metodika: Práce má design literárního přehledu a je zpracována pomocí čtyřkrokového systému. Pro naši práci byl použit akronym PECOT a vyhledávání odborných publikací probíhalo přes online platformy PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, EBSCO a Scopus a přímou návštěvou Akademické knihovny Jihočeské univerzity v Českých Budějovicích a Národní knihovny v Praze. Výsledky: Celkem bylo identifikováno 7 studií, které podléhalo kritériím pro zařazení (čtyři experimentální studie, dvě přehledové studie a jedna kvantitativně-explorativní studie). Simulační proces je ve všech studiích považován za vysoce efektivní metodu výuky, ze kterých má prospěch nejen student, ale také lektor i samotná fakulta. Závěr: Simulační proces je jednou z moderních technik výuky ošetřovatelství. Uvedené výsledky hovoří o vysoké efektivitě výuky pomocí této metody a ve všech evidovaných případech je simulační strategie hodnocena jako efektivnější než ostatní doposud používané metody, např. frontální výuka, videoukázky, prosté demonstrace.
The aim of the research was to compare the knowledge of nursing care for central vascular catheters (which hereinafter will be referred to as CVC) among general nurses from intensive care units and ...standard departments. In general, we can say that the aim was also to map the extent of nurses’ knowledge on infections associated with providing care in healthcare-associated infections (which hereinafter will be referred to as HAI), and aseptic care for central vascular catheters, including catheter sepsis. Part of the research was a content analysis and a comparison of standards of nursing care in three medical facilities concerning the issue of central vascular catheters (with an emphasis on HAI).
The quantitative research was conducted in four medical facilities: Regional Hospital Liberec, Masaryk Municipal Hospital in Jilemnice, Hospital České Budějovice, and Hospital Semily. The chosen research method was a standard questionnaire, which used different kinds of questions and assessment scales. The respondents were selected by purposive sampling. The statistical processing was drawn from 290 completed questionnaires. The statistical methods used were the χ2 test and the two-sided Student's t-test.
The research identified various and serious information deficits in nurses (both in intensive care units and standard units). One example might be underestimating the issue of HAI; the majority of respondents perceived the term HAI as an abbreviation for infections arising only in connection with the hospitalization of patients. Staff who are unaware of the risk of HAI in connection with outpatient or basic nursing care in social institutions will hardly be able to apply preventive procedures. Several serious deficiencies were detected in the knowledge of nurses regarding the aseptic approach to nursing care for central vascular catheters, such as a poor description of the procedure of disinfecting the injection site, non-complex tools for dressing the CVC and a very problematic thinning of heparin plugs.
Cílem výzkumné práce byla komparace znalostí o ošetřovatelské péči o centrální žilní katétry (dále CŽK) mezi všeobecnými sestrami z jednotek intenzivní péče a ze standardních oddělení. V obecné ...rovině lze konstatovat, že cílem bylo i zmapování rozsahu znalostí všeobecných sester o infekcích spojených s poskytováním péče (Healthcare-associated infections, dále jen HAI), o aseptické péči o centrální žilní katétry včetně katétrových sepsí. Součástí výzkumného šetření byla i obsahová analýza a komparace standardů ošetřovatelské péče ze tří zdravotnických zařízení, které se týkají problematiky centrálních žilních katétrů s důrazem na HAI. Kvantitativní výzkumné šetření probíhalo ve čtyřech zdravotnických zařízeních: Krajská nemocnice Liberec, a. s., Masarykova městská nemocnice v Jilemnici, Nemocnice České Budějovice, a. s., a Nemocnice v Semilech. Zvolenou výzkumnou metodou byl nestandardizovaný dotazník s využitím různých druhů otázek i posuzovacích škál. Vzorek respondentů byl zvolen záměrným výběrem. Do statistického zpracování bylo zařazeno 290 relevantně vyplněných dotazníků. Ze statistických metod byl použit χ2 test a dvouvýběrový Studentův t-test. V rámci samotného výzkumného šetření byly zjištěny různě závažné deficity informací všeobecných sester jak z jednotek intenzivní péče, tak i standardních oddělení. Příkladem může být podcenění problematiky HAI, kdy většina respondentů vnímá pojem HAI jako synonymum pro infekce vzniklé v příčinné souvislosti pouze s hospitalizací pacienta. Personál, který si není vědom rizika vzniku HAI v souvislosti s ambulantní nebo základní ošetřovatelskou péčí v sociálních zařízeních, zde bude jen velmi těžko aplikovat preventivní postupy. Několik závažných nedostatků jsme zjistili i u znalostí sester v aseptickém přístupu v ošetřovatelské péči o zavedený centrální žilní katétr, jako jsou špatně uvedený postup dezinfekce místa vpichu, nekomplexní pomůcky k převazu CŽK i velmi problematické ředění heparinové zátky.
Úvod: Cévní mozková příhoda (CMP) patří mezi hlavní příčiny smrti a postižení v evropských zemích. Prevence a s ní spojovaná zdravotní gramotnost patří mezi efektivní nástroje snižování výskytu ...tohoto onemocnění a slouží k případnému snižování jejích následků. Cíl: Vztah socioekonomických faktorů zdravotní gramotnosti a ovlivnitelných rizikových faktorů v souvislosti s ischemickou CMP. Metodika: Šlo o kvantitativní strategii šetření, výzkum byl proveden technikou standardizovaného řízeného rozhovoru tazatele s respondentem. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 1 004 občanů. Ke sběru dat byla použita kombinace standardizovaného dotazníku pro zjištění celkové zdravotní gramotnosti (HLSQ-16) a nestandardizovaného dotazníku týkajícího se prevence cévní mozkové příhody. Výsledky: Většina občanů České republiky (58,5 %) má dostatečnou zdravotní gramotnost. Problematickou zdravotní gramotnost vykazuje 29,2 % dotázaných, zbývajících 13,3 % respondentů má zdravotní gramotnost neadekvátní. Přesto však výsledky prokazují, že značná část obyvatelstva vykazuje problematickou zdravotní gramotnost v oblastech, jako jsou správná životospráva, kouření, konzumace alkoholických nápojů a v neposlední řadě v pohybové aktivitě. Závěr: Rozpoznání těchto faktorů je pak možné vsadit do oblastí preventivního působení. Efektivní intervence zaměřené přímo na rizikové faktory umožní změnu v myšlení a postojích rizikových skupin obyvatel.
