We described the actions of Trieste bishop Wolfgang Weickhard von Rain and his influential father. Given that we are dealing with an extremely important Carniolan noble family, it seems quite ...incredible that modern censuses do not include Rain either among the bishops of Trieste, or among the broader enumerations of Catholic bishops. To explain the background of those unfortunate omissions, we presented the lives of both actors in the light of the Habsburgian court's politics and academic intrigues of their times.

One of the most important Mid-European professor with more than six thousand academic descendants was the leading Slovenian erudite Jurij Vega. In broader sense, Vega's and other applied sciences of ...the south of Holy Roman Empire of German Nationality were connected with the mercury mine of Idrija during the last half of millennia. The Idrija Mine used to be one of the two top European producers of mercury, the basic substance of atomistic alchemists. Idrija Mine contributions to the history of techniques, their examinations and approbations is comparable to the other Mid-European achievements. The peculiarities of Idrija mining environment where people valued mostly the applicative knowhow is put into the limelight. The applicative abilities of Idrija employers affected the broader surroundings including Vega's Jesuit teachers in nearby Ljubljana and the phenomena of comparatively many China-Based Jesuits connected with the area of modern Slovenia. The Jesuits' Mid-European education and networks are put into the limelight, as well as their adopted Chinese networks used for their bridging between Eastern and Western Sciences. The Western origin of the scientific-technologic-industrial revolution(s) with causes for their apparent nonexistence in Chinese frames is discussed as another Eurocentric rhetorical racist question which presumes the scientific-technologic-industrial revolution(s) as something good, positive, and therefore predominantly European. The Chinese ways into progress without those troublemaking revolutions is focused for the first time in historiography from combined scientific, moral, religious, and economic viewpoints. The Chinese contributions to particular areas of research in chemistry and physics is focused to find out the preferences and most frequent stages of (European) paradigms involved in the Chinese networks. Some predictions of future interests of Chinese chemistry and physics are provided. The Chinese Holistic Confucian distrust in atoms is discussed as possible new paradigm which could rename the destructible divisible entities of future physics, and with more difficulties also of chemistry. The word atom meaning indivisible not compound entity is basically in contradiction with the characteristics of item it is supposed to describe. The suffix "a" provides a negation in Ancient Greek language. The suffix should be omitted to use tom (τομος) to manage the actual situation of a-toms (=Toms) as compound of elementary particles. In late 19th century after the European Spring of Nations actually two basically different concepts of atoms of chemists and physicists accomplished a kind of symbioses. The suggestion is put forward that while indivisible atoms soon became contradictions in physics, they still retain some value in chemistry which should be taken into account in the attempt to hange the name of atom. The research of human genome as the atom of genetics is similar in broader sense, while there is no basic problem with the nomenclature of genome. The genome manipulations are far less obstructed with Chinese traditions compared to Christian beliefs.

Posebno pozornost smo posvetili doslej neraziskanim objavljenim delom in rokopisom ljubljanskih jezuitov. Pokazali smo, kako je v Ljubljani nakopičeno znanje pripomoglo k nastanku pionirskih del modernega krasoslovja v zadnji četrtini osemnajstega stoletja. We researched the books, papers, and manuscripts about the subterranean and karst phenomena available in Ljubljana in the time of Jesuit college. We used the data from Mayr's book catalogue of 1678. We analyzed the books in the Jesuit and other Ljubljanese libraries. For the first time in historiography the special concern was put on published works and manuscripts of the Ljubljanese Jesuits. We described how the knowledge accumulated in Ljubljana paved the way for pioneering karstology research in the last quarter of the 18th century.

Ob dvestoletnici smrti Gabrijela Gruberja smo opisali njegovo raziskovanje krasa, Cerkniškega jezera in reke Timav. Pojasnili smo, zakaj je številne nove Gabrijelove dosežke njegov mlajši polbrat ...Tobija objavil pod svojim imenom. Prvič v zgodovinopisju smo objavili popis citiranih del v Gruberjevih raziskavah krasa. On the bicentennial of Gabriel Gruberʼs death his speleological and karstological research in Carniola are described. Gruber carefully studied his predecessorsʼ researches of Carniolan karst and Cerknica Lake in particular. He provided several new ideas in the joint work of Tobias Gruber and his older half brother Gabriel. For the first time in historiography Gruberʼs karstological references were discussed. The special concern was put on the Gruberʼs model of the stalactite formation where he proved his extraordinary abilities in Newtonʼs modern mathematics. Very sad stories about Gruber-Hacquet quarrels were connected with their different opinions about karst.

We verified some data in Shawʼs description of Babbageʼs visit to Postojna. To compare with, we calculated the exact date of Babbageʼs voyage from his own descriptions. We researched the motives for ...his interests in the Proteus anguinus. We described other Babbageʼs scientific activities at the time of his visit to Carniola. We claimed his surprising incompetence in geography. In Babbageʼs time, Carniolan scientific research of the Proteus anguinus began under Dežmanʼs leadership of the Museum Society. For the first time we researched the early Carniolan contribution to the Proteus research. We discussed possible reasons for the previous neglect of the Museum Society work and Dežmanʼs publications in particular.Dopolnili smo Shawovo raziskovanje Babbagejevega obiska Postojne. Predstavili smo verjetne vzroke za dosedanje zapostavljanje delovanja Muzejskega društva in še posebej Dežmana.

The twelve decades of modern academic history of physics have provided enough material for the study of the history of history of physics, the focus of which is the development of the opinions and ...methods of historians of physics. The achievements of historians of physics are compared with the achievements of their objects of research, the physicists. Some correlations are expected. The group of historians-researchers and the group of their objects interacted. In several cases, the same person started out as a researcher and later moved on to the field of researcher of research achievements. There are also some competence-related quarrels between the two groups, the historians and the physicists. The new science called history of history of physics could be useful in a special case study of Jesuits. Jesuit professors formed a special group of physicists and historians studying the physicists, who were very influential in their time.Jesuits, except the very best of them such as Rudjer Bošković, Athanasius Kircher, or Christopher Clavius, were later omitted from historical surveys by their Enlightenment opponents. In the second half of the 19th century,Jesuit historians produced a considerable amount of useful biographies and bibliographies of their fellows. This makes them an interesting research subject for the history of history of physics as one of the best researched scientific-oriented networks worldwide, especially the Jesuits who were active in China.
