► The concept of intuitionistic fuzzy sets is applied to VIKOR, called IF-VIKOR to make more realistic and informed decisions based on available information. ► The importance weights of criteria and ...the ratings of alternatives are assessed by linguistic terms which are further quantified in triangular intuitionistic fuzzy sets. ► The proposed IF-VIKOR method is demonstrated with robot selection problem.
Decision making is the process of finding the best option among the feasible alternatives. In classical multiple-criteria decision making methods, the ratings and the weights of the criteria are known precisely. However, if decision makers are not able to involve uncertainty in the defining of linguistic variables based on fuzzy sets, the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory can do this job very well. In this paper, VIKOR method is extended in intuitionistic fuzzy environment, aiming at solving multiple-criteria decision making problems in which the weights of criteria and ratings of alternatives are taken as triangular intuitionistic fuzzy set. For application and verification, this study presents a robot selection problem for material handling task to verify our proposed method.

At our medical institutions, we immerse trainees in a two-tiered system. We teach them that some kinds of patients see residents and other kinds of patients see attendings. And worst of all, we teach ...them to pretend not to notice.
Popular sites like Houzz, Pinterest, and LikeThatDecor, have communities of users helping each other answer questions about products in images. In this paper we learn an embedding for visual search ...in interior design. Our embedding contains two different domains of product images: products cropped from internet scenes, and products in their
iconic
form. With such a multi-domain embedding, we demonstrate several applications of visual search including identifying products in scenes and finding stylistically similar products. To obtain the embedding, we train a convolutional neural network on pairs of images. We explore several training architectures including re-purposing object classifiers, using siamese networks, and using multitask learning. We evaluate our search quantitatively and qualitatively and demonstrate high quality results for search across multiple visual domains, enabling new applications in interior design.
CO2, a byproduct from various industrial reactions, must not be released into the atmosphere and should be managed through capture, conversion, and utilization. The first step in converting CO2 into ...valuable products is to break the C-O bond. This work focuses on designing Single Atom Catalysts (SACs) by doping Cu(211) surface with 13 different s, p, and d block elements with an aim to minimize the activation barrier for C-O bond cleavage. Our work demonstrates that SACs of Mg/Al/Pt@Cu(211) favor CO2 chemisorption compared to Cu(211) where CO2 physisorbs. The barrier for CO2 dissociation is lowest for Mg@Cu(211) and it increases in the order Mg@Cu(211) < Al@Cu(211) < Pt@Cu(211) < Zn@Cu(211) < Ga@Cu(211) < Cu@Cu(211) < Pd@Cu(211). These findings suggest that doping Cu(211) with earth-abundant metal like Mg can potentially be a viable catalyst for CO2 conversion, providing a promising solution to reduce carbon footprint and mitigate climate change.

Leishmaniasis is a disease of the subtropical and tropical spheres of the earth and has various clinical manifestations. The different form of leishmaniasis includes cutaneous leishmaniasis, ...mucocutaneous leishmaniasis, most lethal visceral leishmaniasis and PKDL form. These different forms depend on many factors such as parasite and vector species, geographical, environmental conditions and population ethnicity. Host genetic factors have been widely investigated for their role in developing the disease in various infections. There are several reports on associations or resistance between candidate gene polymorphisms and the risk and outcome of Leishmania infection. Polymorphism in genes involved in both innate and adaptive immune systems, as well as genes of metabolic processes contributes to disease manifestation. The wide availability and advancement of molecular techniques permits to exploration of hereditary factors related to leishmaniasis. Many candidate gene studies were conducted on family-based and population to identify novel biomarkers for understanding disease pathogenesis pathways and possible drug targets. This comprehensive review presents an update on various human genes polymorphism that influence the outcome of different forms of Leishmania infection in endemic regions of the world. Various electronic databases were searched systematically for relevant publications and thoroughly analyzed. Most of the candidate gene studies were found with discrepancies in findings. Genetic and functional studies with adequate power are needed to validate the contribution of host genes in susceptibility or resistance towards Leishmania infection and understanding pathogenesis.
•Leishmaniasis a vector-born parasitic disease has three major clinical manifestations.•Host genetic factors affect susceptibility or resistance towards Leishmania infection.•Molecular techniques advancement permits investigation of host genetics in infection outcome.•Host genetic factors can provide novel biomarkers and drug targets for leishmaniasis.

Abstract In this paper I argue through the double entendre of ‘data‐bility’ that how dateable one is on a dating app relies on data. This techno‐social framework enables an understanding of how ...dating apps are reconfiguring a politics of sexuality, circumscribed by digital technologies and data. Drawing on research with middle‐class women and gender‐minority dating app users in Mumbai and one dating app executive, the paper investigates how algorithms and users' digital behaviour together constitute data‐bility in three ways. First, dating app algorithms are designed to match those of similar social identities to one another. Second, dating app users engage with others' digital data on profiles and through message chats, reading class through these processes, deciding who to match/reject and correspondingly who is data‐ble. Third, users and algorithmic infrastructures come together to create new regimes of verification, through deeming some users ‘real’ and others ‘fake’ on dating apps, extending violent legacies of categorisation. Together, these processes result in data‐bility, a techno‐social order of digital dating oriented around the exclusion of those labelled ‘creeps’ along class and caste lines.

Conservation of existing remnants of tropical forests outside protected areas remains a major challenge because of developmental pressures. It is likely that, as forests outside of protected areas ...disappear, the pressure on protected areas will grow. Thus, it is important to conserve biodiversity outside protected areas, at least as buffers for protected areas, a conservation practice enshrined in the Aichi Biodiversity Targets for the 2011–2020 period. We designed a contingent valuation study to value the restoration of native trees on coffee plantations in the Kodagu district of Karnataka in India. Our study includes a sample of 1029 respondents who visited these sites. The survey was conducted using a pretested questionnaire to collect data from tourists between January and June 2016. We found that visitors derive positive benefits from the restoration of native tree species that form a dense tree-like ecosystem providing refuge for biodiversity not only on coffee plantations but also in adjoining protected areas. Visitors were willing to pay an average 187 Indian Rupees (INR) for the restoration program. The total estimated value for the restoration of native tree species is INR 47 million per annum. Thus, there is scope to collect and mobilize tourist revenue for the restoration program. We propose, in concurrence with local stakeholders, an institutional mechanism to generate and transfer the increased revenue from the surcharge to the coffee-growers to implement the proposed program.
