This article responds to dual calls for researching and theorising everyday social phenomena in postcolonial studies on the one hand, and serious engagement with the postcolonial within the ...discipline of sociology on the other. It focuses on the everyday lives of asylum seekers living on asylum seeker welfare support in the UK. Asylum seekers offer a good case study for exploring the postcolonial everyday because they live in poverty and consequently experience daily harms at the hands of the state, despite the UK fulfilling its obligations to them under human rights law. The article proposes a conceptual framework drawing together sociologies of the everyday, necropolitics and slow violence in tracing how hierarchical conceptions of human worth impact on the everyday.

Background: There are some plants in the global rangelands whose nutritional value is still unknown to animal nutritionists. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro value of some rare ...plants including Marrubium vulgare L., Ceratocarpus arenarius L., Gypsophila paniculate L., Ferula gummosa Boiss., and Centaurea virgate Lam. that are consumed by livestock. Methodology: The fresh samples were collected from Iran about mid-June, after the flowering stage. Buffering capacity, chemical and mineral compounds of plants were determined according to the standard methods. An in vitro media was also used to measure some fermentation parameters. Results: There were significant differences in chemical composition and mineral contents among the plants. The higher CP content was found in M. vulgare (173.8 g kg-1 DM) and C. arenarius (140.1 g kg-1 DM), respectively. The lowest ADF (166.6 g kg-1 DM), NDF (294.9 g kg-1 DM), and ADL (74.9 g kg-1 DM) contents were recorded in M. vulgare. C. arenarius exhibited the lowest DMD (473.3 g kg-1 DM), ME (4.12 MJ kg-1 DM), RFV (99.46), and gas volume at 24 h (13.57 ml) which were significantly different from all other plant species. The calcium content ranged from 18.15 for C. virgata to 37.62 g kg-1 DM for G. paniculata. The highest Na (0.64 g kg-1 DM), K (24.60 g kg-1 DM), Co (3.07 mg kg-1 DM), and Fe (756.53 mg kg-1 DM) were observed in M. vulgare. With the addition of G. paniculata to the culture medium, a noticeable increase in TVFA (40.65 mM L-1) concentration was observed. The highest acid-base buffering capacity was obtained in G. paniculata (191.64 mEq×10-3). Inclusion of C. virgata gave significantly higher acetate (64.07%) and butyrate (14.83%) concentration and lower propionate (19.17%) concentration in the culture medium. Implications: The available data can take into account in preparing a balanced diet, especially for sheep grazing in the pasture. Due to the secondary metabolites, the forage value of these plants should also be evaluated in the form of in vivo experiments with long-term experiment periods. Conclusion: According to the in vitro results, when these plants are fed together with a diversity of good quality forage, they can provide part of the nutrient requirement for small ruminant in Iran.

CFU) along with higher levels of molasses (10% of DM) had better ruminal digestion-fermentation characteristics compared to other silages. Also, the addition of molasses improved the internal fermentation characteristics of AM in the silo.
The main objective of current work is to scrutinize the performance of unglazed photovoltaic thermal system (PVTs) and transparent glazed photovoltaic thermal system (GPVTs) from energy and exergy ...standpoints using four different operating fluids consisting of deionized water, GNP/water, SWCNT/water, and MWCNT/water nanofluids with a mass concentration of 0.05%. Sunny and stable days with the clear sky of September and October are selected as the suitable actual conditions. The outdoor experiments are carried out from 9:30 to 16:00. The results reveal that in the GPVTs, although using a transparent glass cover has an undesirable effect on the surface temperature, electrical output power, and electrical efficiency, the concurrent effect of the glass cover and nanofluid considerably increases the thermal and overall efficiencies. Among all studied operating fluids, the GNP/water and SWCNT/water nanofluids would be more efficient in terms of energy and exergy performances. Regarding the energy viewpoint, the overall efficiencies of GPVTs/MWCNT, GPVTs/SWCNT, and GPVTs/GNP are higher by 12.32%, 17.02%, and 22.65%, respectively, compared to those of PVTs with deionized water. Moreover, from the exergy viewpoint, the overall efficiencies of PVTs/water, PVTs/MWCNT, PVTs/SWCNT, and PVTs/GNP are higher by 1.42%, 1.68%, 1.93%, and 2.32%, respectively, compared to those of the PV unit.

The dietary effects of ensiled pomegranate by-products (EPB) with different levels of polyethylene glycol (PEG) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, haematological parameters, carcase ...traits, and meat quality of fat-tail lambs were investigated in vivo. Thirty-two lambs were allocated to four experimental diets: containing: (1) diet without EPB as control, (2) diet containing EPB (EPB), (3) diet containing EPB with 5% PEG (EPB5%PEG) and (4) diet containing EPB with 10% PEG (EPB10%PEG). The nutrient digestibility, growth performance, internal organs, carcase traits, and chemical composition of Longissimus thoracis et lumborum (LTL) were unchanged between treatments (p > .05). However, a significant increase in fatty-acid profile of LTL (vaccenic acid, p = .04; C18:2 cis-9 cis12, p = .05; rumenic acid, p = .03; C18:2 trans-10 cis12, p = .02; alpha-linolenic acid, p = .01; punicic acid, p = .03 and total PUFA, p < .0001) was found in EPB-fed animals. The highest total antioxidant capacity (p = .001) and the lowest serum malondialdehyde concentration (p = .05) were observed in lambs fed EPB. The results indicated that dietary incorporation of EPB without PEG and its partial replacement with grains can improve animal health and meat fatty-acid profile without deleterious effects on growth performance.

Single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) has been shown to be effective in defining the structure of macromolecules, including protein complexes. Complexes adopt different conformations and ...compositions to perform their biological functions. In cryo-EM, the protein complexes are observed in solution, enabling the recording of images of the protein in multiple conformations. Various methods exist for capturing the conformational variability through analysis of cryo-EM data. Here, we analyzed the conformational variability in the hexameric AAA + ATPase p97, a complex with a six-fold rotational symmetric core surrounded by six flexible N-domains. We compared the performance of discrete classification methods with our recently developed method, MDSPACE, which uses 3D-to-2D flexible fitting of an atomic structure to images based on molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Our analysis detected a novel conformation adopted by approximately 2% of the particles in the dataset and determined that the N-domains of p97 sway by up to 60° around a central position. This study demonstrates the application of MDSPACE in analyzing the continuous conformational changes in partially symmetrical protein complexes, systems notoriously difficult to analyze due to the alignment errors caused by their partial symmetry.

in diets of small ruminants, however dietary supplementation of
Peganum harmala
L. due to its alkaloids content should be done with caution.
A diverse group of rangeland-medicinal plants are being used by ruminant whilst some of them have not been assessed for their nutritional value. This study was aimed to evaluate the chemical and ...mineral composition, buffering capacity, and in vitro fermentation of some rangeland-medicinal plants including Thymus kotschyanus, Ziziphora persica, Lallemantia royleana, and Scutellaria litwinowii in the family Lamiaceae, and Hypericum scabrum, in the family Hypericaceae. The results indicated that crude protein (CP) content ranged from 8.66% (S. litwinowii) to 12.17% of DM (H. scabrum). It was found that Z. persica had the highest potential gas production, metabolism energy (ME), relative feed value (RFV), and dry matter digestibility (DMD) values of 53.44 (mL 200-1 mg DM), 5.84 (MJ kg-1 DM), 170.66 and 70.88%, respectively. Mineral content differed among plants; Ca ranged from 5.79 to 41.96 g kg-1 DM. The concentrations of Ca, K, Mg, Fe, Zn, and Co were highest for L. royleana. Total volatile fatty acids (TVFA) and propionate concentrations were highest in the culture medium cultured with Z. persica, however, acetate, and butyrate were highest in H. scabrum. Acid-base buffering capacity was lower in T. kotschyanus and H. scabrum compared to other plants, while it was higher in S. litwinowii. Overall, it can be concluded that among plants evaluated in this study, Z. persica had higher nutritional value for sheep feeding.
The purpose of this study was to determine the rate and type of injury in elite Canadian Taekwondo athletes, before and during competition and to investigate the relationship between past injuries, ...injuries during competition and success. This retrospective case-series study incorporated Taekwondo injuries sustained by 75 male and female elite Canadian Taekwondo athletes over 10 years and its relationship to athletes' success by means of gaining medals during competition. A logistic regression model (using the Generalised Estimating Equations (GEE) method) was used to investigate the relationship between injuries and success. Injury rate was associated with performance after holding variables constant (Odds Ratio (OR) = 0.124, P = 0.039). Moreover, with each additional injury per match, competitors were 88% (1-0.124) less likely to win a medal. Although not statistically significant, additional injuries prior to competition were associated with a 30% increase in medal prevalence (OR = 1.299, P = 0.203). When comparing athletes (gender, tournament difficulty, injury variables), a competitor who is one year older is 10% less likely to medal (OR = 0.897, P = 0.068). When an additional injury occurred during competition, the athlete was 88% less likely to win a medal. Prevention, correct diagnosis, and immediate therapeutic intervention by qualified health care providers are important.
