The main objective of this study was to find out the relationship of job stress with job attitudes in college lecturers. This is a cross-sectional study design based on purposive sampling technique. ...The results revealed that job stress has a significant negative relationship with job performance, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction while positively significant related with turnover intentions. Further a significant difference was found among married and unmarried college lecturers on these study variables.
Background
The principles of global surgery should be taught as a part of the core curriculum in medical schools. The need for medical students to be familiar with the topic is increasing in ...acceptance. There is, however, a paucity of data on how medical students are exposed to global surgery. This study aims to evaluate exposure of medical students to global surgery, awareness of the key messages of the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, global surgery career aspirations and barriers to said aspirations.
Methods
ISOMERS was a multi-centre, online, cross-sectional survey of final year medical students globally. The questionnaire utilised a combination of Likert-scale, multiple-choice, and free text questions.
Results
In this study, 1593 final year medical students from 144 medical schools in 20 countries participated. The majority (
n
= 869/1496, 58.1%) believed global surgery to be relevant, despite 17.7% (
n
= 271/1535) having any exposure to global surgery. Most participants (
n
= 1187/1476, 80.4%) wanted additional resources on global surgery. Difficulty in providing appropriate care for patients living abroad (
n
= 854/1242, 68.8%) was the most common perceived barrier to a career in global surgery.
Conclusions
Participants believed global surgery was a relevant topic for medical students and wanted additional resources that they could access on global surgery. It is critical for medical students to become aware that global surgery is a field that aims to address inequity in surgical care not just internationally, but nationally and locally as well.

Background: Suicidal attempts are a global problem and their rate of incidence is increasing day by day. This study aimed to elucidate the patterns of suicidal poisoning cases presenting in three ...tertiary care government hospitals of Karachi, Pakistan.
Methods: In this retrospective observational study, past data records of 627 suicidal (poisoning) cases of the three tertiary care hospitals of Karachi from a period of January 2016 to December 2016 were evaluated to see patterns of suicidal cases. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 via Chi-squared test.
Results: Majority of the cases (36.4%) belonged to the 9-25 years’ age group. Mean age of the cases was 25:31 ± 9.92. Females (57.3%) considerably outnumbered males (42.7%). The greatest number of cases reported was from Southern district of Karachi (23%) followed by West (21.5%), central (20.9%) and East (11%) reported mainly at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The most common poisoning agent used for suicidal attempts was insecticide (40.2%), followed by rodenticide (19.9%). Majority of patients were examined on the same day of attempting suicide (95.5%), majority were in conscious state (76.2%). Admission record for most cases was unmentioned. (66.3%)
Conclusion: Majority of the cases presented at three tertiary care government hospitals who attempted suicide were young female adults mainly from South district of Karachi followed by West, Central and East Karachi. Pesticides, specifically, insecticides and rodenticides, were the most commonly used poisoning agents used for suicide. Majority of cases were brought at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre in the conscious state.
Ear reconstruction with full-thickness skin grafts can be a challenging task for plastic surgeons. It is often necessary to remove the underlying cartilage with the skin lesion and the resultant ...defect may be deeply concave. We present a short clinical report to describe an improved technique that we find useful in reducing the diameter and depth of anterior pinna contour defects, in improving graft take, and in reducing the size of the donor-site scar.
Background: Foreign body inhalation is a common problem in children. In our setup beads are available in the form of cheap jewelry and prayer beads. With improvement in endoscopic technology for ...extraction of foreign body from the airways, mortality has reduced. This study was carried out to determine the efficacy of rigid bronchoscopy for extraction of beads from airways in a tertiary care hospital. Material & Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at Department of ENT, Head & Neck Surgery, Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, from January 2012 to December 2013. Any patient of any age and either sex with inhaled bead was evaluated in terms of detailed history, thorough examination and relevant investigation. After taking consent bead was retrieved with rigid bronchoscopy and patient was put on injectable antibiotics and steroid. All these patients were followed up to one month. The data was collected on a proforma and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 17. Results: This study included 23 cases constituting 16 male and 7 female, with male to female ratio of 2.2:1. Mean age was 5.47+4.38 years (range 1-18 years). Majority of patients 15(56.21%) belonged to lower socioeconomic group. Most of the patients (69.56%) presented within three days. The commonest site for lodgment of bead was the right main bronchus 56.52%. Cough was the commonest presentation (52.17%) followed by wheezy chest 43.47% and in 15(65.21%) cases bead was visible on chest x-ray. Conclusion: Rigid bronchoscopy is an effective procedure for extraction of beads from tracheobroncheal tree.

Compounds 1-18, new oxadiazole-thiosemicarbazide hybrids, were synthesized using a five-step reaction sequence in excellent yields. All the synthesized analogs exhibited exceptional alpha ...-glucosidase inhibitory potentials in the range of 0.4-38.1 mu M. Among the current series, it was observed that the fluoro-substituted analogues were exceptionally potent inhibitors of alpha -glucosidase. The study provides a proof of concept that inductively strong electron withdrawing groups result in enhanced inhibitory potentials. The binding interactions of these compounds were analyzed in silicofor possible prediction and identification of the improved inhibitory potential.

Triploidy is characterized by the presence of an additional set of chromosome in organisms. It has been proved lethal for humans' fetus and causing abortion at last trimester of pregnancy. Some of ...the triploidy neonates can survive up to several weeks with several physical and mental abnormalities. In current study we enrolled a 27-year-old pregnant woman for genetic counseling with a suspect of Edward's syndrome (trisomy 18) at her gestation period of 16 weeks, GTG-banded metaphase analysis revealed a karyotype of 69 XXX. Microsatellite based genotyping of fetus and parents revealed that triploidy is initiated during meiosis-I and inherited from mother. Therefore, we suggest that the diagnosis of triploidy should be performed at early stage of gestation to avoid the complication at late stages of pregnancy.
Jamil Ahmad's The Wandering Falcon (2011) offers a striking example of the ways in which historical and political contexts impact the reception of Pakistani Anglophone fiction due to its unique ...publication history. Ahmad creates a correlation between identity, language, and physiognomy of individuals through Tor Baz, whose identity continuously passes through the process of change in the frigid tribal culture. This paper raises questions regarding how a literary text achieves commercial success and how the geopolitical context of both its setting and the location of the author affects the publication and reception of the work.
