Six cultivars of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) maturity groups 0 and 1 were evaluated in relation to the response to foliar fertilization with two levels of Epsom salt (ESFF) on grain yield, ...protein and oil content in grain. A field study conducted in Eastern Croatia during four years (1998â2001). The obtained results showed significant increasing of grain yield, protein and oil content in grain affected by ESFF. At investigated traits were non significant differences between two treatment levels. Interaction ESFF with cultivars as well as with years was significant, respectively.
Seed oil content in sunflower is very important trait for seed production and breeding. Aim of this research was to estimate stability of oil content of seven single cross and seven three-way cross ...hybrids in different environments. The trials were set up on the three locations (Osijek- Eastern Slavonia County, Karanac- Baranja County and Feričanci- Western Slavonia County) during 2002 and 2003 growing seasons. Estimation of stability was conducted by regression coefficient and AMMI model. Oil content was lower in conditions of rainfall deficit and high temperatures in flowering time and during seed maturity process. Three-way cross hybrids had slightly higher oil content. According to regression coefficient, most of the hybrids were stable. According to AMMI model, the most stable hybrids were experimental hybrids OS-H-103 S, OSH-219 S, OS-H-259 S, OS-H-59 T and OS-H-189 T. Hybrid Apolon had the highest oil content and it was adapted to high yielding environments. Hybrid Fakir was according to, both regression coefficient and AMMI model, adapted to low yielding environments.
Plant height is one of the most important sunflower traits, which has great impact on grain and oil yield. Field trials are conducted on three locations (Osijek- Eastern Slavonia, Karanac- Baranja ...and Feričanci-Western Slavonia) with different pedodynamic soil characteristics. Investigation includes 7 single cross and 7 three-way cross experimental and recognized sunflower hybrids of The Agricultural institute Osijek during two growing seasons. Single cross hybrids had a slightly higher plant height values in relation to three-way cross hybrids. The lowest plant height value in both years of investigation is obtained on location Feričanci, and the highest in Osijek. In the second year of investigation, in lack of precipitations, plants were lower 37 cm in average. Estimation of IPCA1 values showed that the highest stability had experimental hybrids OS-253 T, OS-H-101 S and OS-H-219 S.
This paper presents the results of 17 new OS-hybrid combinations of sunflower during three years (2009-2011) on two locations (Nova Gradiška and Osijek) aiming to determine the variability of oil ...content and fatty acid composition of the oil in different environments. There were statistically significant differences in oil content and fatty acid composition between years, locations and hybrids. The average oil content was 48.74%, the content of palmitic acid (C16:0) 5.626%, stearic (C18:0) 3.682%, oleic (C18:1), 24.741% and linoleic (C18:2) 64.447%. On both locations, the highest oil content was in 2011 (50.97%), oleic acid (27.379%) in 2009, and in 2010 the highest content of linoleic acid (66.153%). Statistically significant higher oil content, palmitic and linoleic acids were achieved on Nova Gradiška location. Statistically significant higher content of oleic acid (25.820%) was achieved on Osijek location. Palmitic, stearic, and linoleic acids were in statistically high significant medium strong to strong positive correlation with oil content, and oleic acid in a strong negative correlation (-0.660**). The ratio of oleic and linoleic acid was statistically significant in high negative correlation (-0.974**).
The objective of the investigation was testing of sunflower hybrids in different environmental conditions. Trials were set up at three locations (Osijek âEastern Slavonia county, Karanac â ...Baranja county, and FeriÄanci â Western Slavonia county) during the 2002 and 2003 growing season. Fourteen sunflower hybrids were tested. Stability and adaptability analysis was performed using two parameters â regression coefficient (b i) and deviations mean square (s 2 di). Determined were hybrids characterized by high and stable grain yield and wide general adaptability and hybrids for low and high yielding environments. The investigation showed no significant differences among single cross and three-way cross hybrids regarding grain yield stability.
Results of line x tester analysis for 15 sunflower genotypes of the Agricultural Institute Osijek are presented in this paper. Three A lines (cms) and three Rf testers with different oil content ...level (low, medium, high) in all combinations (nine crosses) were crossed in 2010. In 2011, the lines, testers and their crosses were sown in field trials at two locations (Karanac and Osijek). The oil content was determined after harvesting, whereas line x tester analysis was conducted based on the obtained results. Variance of lines and testers, which refers to the general combining ability (GCA) was much higher than the variance of line x tester, related to specific combining ability (SCA). It showed on dominant role of the additive component of genetic variance in the inheritance of oil content. Statistically significant differences were not determined between the GCA and SCA effects. The highest values of GCA for oil content had line 2 (medium oil content) and tester 6 (high oil content) at both locations. The largest contribution for oil content had lines (57.81 and 51.28 %) followed by testers (28.88 and 26.27 %) and the lowest accounts for interaction (13.31 and 22.45 %) at both locations (Karanac and Osijek).
Maize and soybeans were grown under field conditions on acid soil (pH in KCl = 3.99). The field trail was conducted in spring 2004 as follows: a = ordinary fertilization, b = a + NPK-1, c = a + ...NPK-2, d = a + NPK-3 and e = a + NPK-4. The fertilizer NPK 10:30:20 was source of P and K (using in amounts 416, 1249, 2082, 2916 and 3748 kg/ha, for the treatments a, b, c, d and e, respectively. Nitrogen amount was equilized for all treatments by addition of adequate quatities of CAN (calcium ammonium nitrate: 27% N) were used. The experiment was conducted in four replicates. By application of the ameliorative rates of NPK fertilizer, grain yields of maize significantly increased to level of 14% compared to standard fertilization (12.33 and 14.00 t ha â1 , for the control and the second rate of NPK fertilization, respectively. Only the highest rate of NPK fertilizer resulted by significant increase of protein in grain. Residual response of soybean (the growing season 2005) to the fertilization was considerably higher compared to maize, because yields of soybeans were increased up to 32%. Protein contents in soybean grain were independent on the fertilization, while oil contents were increased up to 0.66% compared to the control.
Sunflower breeding program at the Agricultural Institute Osijek is aimed at creating hybrids with high genetic potential for grain and oil yield and with improved agronomical traits. Achieved grain ...and oil yields of 30 new (single-cross and three-way cross) OS hybrids in comparison with standard hybrids (Apolon and Šokac), during 2006 and 2007 at location Osijek (Croatia) are presented in this paper. The experiments were set up in randomized complete block design (RCBD) and analyzed traits were grain and oil yield. The highest grain yield (for both years of the research) was achieved with hybrids OS-H-271 S and OS-H-35 T (above 5 t ha-1), and oil yield with hybrids OS-H-35 T, OS-H-K3 T and OS-H-271 S (above 2 t ha-1). On the average, three-way cross hybrids achieved higher grain and oil yield compared to single-cross hybrids. Experimental hybrids achieved higher grain and oil yield compared to registered OS sunflower hybrids, indicating a genetic advance in domestic sunflower hybrids breeding.
Aiming to determine desiccation impact on seed moisture and yield, impurity, oil content and sunflower price, in ordinary and stubble sowing (after chamomile and winter barley) field trials were set ...up on the areas of Bioagrar Ltd. company Ivanovci (Valpovo ) in 2008 and 2009. Six sunflower hybrids: LG 53.80M (2008), LG 54.12 (2009), Brio, LG 56.65M, Apolon, Šokac and OS-H-13 were used in the trials in ordinary sowing of 2008 and 2009 while in stubble sowing of 2008 hybrid LG 53.80M was sown, and in 2009 hybrid LG 54.12. Reglone forte diquat (3 l/ha) and Harvade 25F dimethipin (2 l/ha) were used as desiccants applying 500 l water / ha. Desiccation was done by pulled tractor sprayer of 18 m working width. In these researches, desiccation was very useful agro-technical measure which considerably accelerated sunflower maturation, especially in a stubble sowing, and reduced presence of weeds. This, in turn, enabled earlier, easier and faster harvesting, and earlier field preparation for the next crop sowing. Regarding sunflower prices, desiccation is profitable in wet weather years.
