W artykule pokazuję formy obecności szlachty w Krośnie, w mieście usytuowanym na styku trzech kultur – polskiej, ruskiej i węgierskiej. Występującą w nim szlachtę, o różnym stopniu zamożności ...i pozycji społecznej, przedstawiam jako właścicieli i użytkowników nieruchomości, w tym ich dzierżawców, mieszkańców stałych lub obecnych w mieście czasowo, uczestników życia gospodarczego i społecznego miasta. Zajmuję się też małżeństwami szlachecko-mieszczańskimi oraz karierami niektórych rodzin – wiodącymi od stanu mieszczańskiego do stanu szlacheckiego. Piszę o powiązaniach mieszczaństwa ze szlachtą obcego pochodzenia – głównie węgierską.

The issues of this article relate to economic cooperation between the residents of the cities of the northern Hungary, and the western frontiers of Ruthenia. It includes cooperation of merchants on ...both sides of the Carpathians (transfer of goods, capital, sales of services). The article describes the contacts of members of the bourgeois elite, but also the townspeople involved in wholesale and retail trade and crafts. It also shows the nature of the presence of Hungarians in the cities of the Land of Sanok, including their buyout of real estate in the richest city of the region, Krosno. Additionally, the article shows the conditions of adaptation of those newcomers to the new places.

Statistical data in the table have been arranged according to the division of the inhabitants
into groups – the richest, moderately wealthy and poor. e people’s gender has also been taken into consideration. e sources of information have been commented and completed in the text dealing with dierent aspects of material culture as an inherent part of townspeople
