This paper investigates the problem of adaptive fuzzy tracking control for nonlinear strict-feedback systems with input delay and output constraint. Input delay is handled based on the information of ...Pade approximation and output constraint problem is solved by barrier Lypaunov function. Some adaptive parameters of the controller need to be updated online through considering the norm of membership function vector instead of all sub-vectors. A novel adaptive fuzzy tracking control scheme is developed to guarantee all variables of the closed-loop systems are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded, and the tracking error can be adjusted around the origin with a small neighborhood. The stability of the closed-loop systems is proved and simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.
This paper deals with the adaptive sliding-mode control problem for nonlinear active suspension systems via the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy approach. The varying sprung and unsprung masses, the unknown ...actuator nonlinearity, and the suspension performances are taken into account simultaneously, and the corresponding mathematical model is established. The T-S fuzzy system is used to describe the original nonlinear system for the control-design aim via the sector nonlinearity approach. A sufficient condition is proposed for the asymptotical stability of the designing sliding motion. An adaptive sliding-mode controller is designed to guarantee the reachability of the specified switching surface. The condition can be converted to the convex optimization problems. Simulation results for a half-vehicle active suspension model are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes.
This paper deals with the problem of output-feedback H ∞ control for a class of active quarter-car suspension systems with control delay. The dynamic system of the suspension systems is first formed ...in terms of the control objectives, i.e., ride comfort, road holding, suspension deflection, and maximum actuator control force. Then, the objective is to the design of the dynamic output-feedback H ∞ controller in order to ensure asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system with H ∞ disturbance attenuation level and the output constraints. Furthermore, using Lyapunov theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, the existence of admissible controllers is formulated in terms of LMIs. With these satisfied conditions, a desired dynamic output-feedback controller can be readily constructed. Finally, a quarter-vehicle model is exploited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
In this paper, a novel adaptive sliding mode controller is designed for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with actuator saturation and system uncertainty. By the delta operator approach, the ...discrete-time nonlinear system is described by a T-S fuzzy model with unmeasurable state. By singular value decomposition of system input matrix, a reduced-order system is obtained for the design of sliding mode surface. A new adaptive sliding mode controller based on system output is presented to guarantee that the closed-loop system is uniformly ultimately bounded. Four examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed control scheme.
In this technical note, the problem of switching stabilization for slowly switched linear systems is investigated. In particular, the considered systems can be composed of all unstable subsystems. ...Based on the invariant subspace theory, the switching signal with mode-dependent average dwell time (MDADT) property is designed to exponentially stabilize the underlying system. Furthermore, sufficient condition of stabilization for switched systems with all stable subsystems under MDADT switching is also given. The correctness and effectiveness of the proposed approaches are illustrated by a numerical example.
Since the launch of lithium-ion batteries, elements (such as silicon, tin, or aluminum) that can be alloyed with lithium have been expected as anode materials, owing to larger capacity. However, ...their successful application has not been accomplished because of drastic structural degradation caused by cyclic large volume change during battery reactions. To prolong lifetime of alloy anodes, we must circumvent the huge volume strain accompanied by insertion/extraction of lithium. Here we report that by using aluminum-foil anodes, the volume expansion during lithiation can be confined to the normal direction to the foil and, consequently, the electrode cyclability can be markedly enhanced. Such a unidirectional volume-strain circumvention requires an appropriate hardness of the matrix and a certain tolerance to off-stoichiometry of the resulting intermetallic compound, which drive interdiffusion of matrix component and lithium along the normal-plane direction. This metallurgical concept would invoke a paradigm shift to future alloy-anode battery technologies.
This paper presents an adaptive fuzzy control approach for a category of uncertain nonstrict-feedback systems with input saturation and output constraint. A variable separation approach is introduced ...to overcome the difficulty arising from the nonstrict-feedback structure. The problem of input saturation is solved by introducing an auxiliary design system, and output constraint is handled by utilizing a barrier Lyapunov function. Combing fuzzy logic system with the adaptive backstepping technique, the semi-global boundedness of all variables in the closed-loop systems is guaranteed, and the tracking error is driven to the origin with a small neighborhood. The stability of the closed-loop systems is proved, and the simulation results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
This paper is focused on reliable fuzzy H ∞ controller design for active suspension systems with actuator delay and fault. The Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model approach is adapted in this study with ...the consideration of the sprung and the unsprung mass variation, the actuator delay and fault, and other suspension performances. By the utilization of the parallel-distributed compensation scheme, a reliable fuzzy H ∞ performance analysis criterion is derived for the proposed T-S fuzzy model. Then, a reliable fuzzy H ∞ controller is designed such that the resulting T-S fuzzy system is reliable in the sense that it is asymptotically stable and has the prescribed H ∞ performance under given constraints. The existence condition of the reliable fuzzy H ∞ controller is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) Finally, a quarter- vehicle suspension model is used to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of the proposed design techniques.
The two principle earthquakes of the July 2019 Ridgecrest, California, earthquake sequence, MW 6.4 and 7.1, and their immediate foreshocks and thousands of aftershocks present a challenging ...environment for rapid analysis and characterization of this sequence as it unfolded. In this study, we analyze the first 6 days of the sequence using continuous data from available seismic networks to detect and locate earthquakes associated with the earthquake sequence. We build a high‐precision earthquake catalog using a deep‐neural‐network‐based picker—PhaseNet and a sequential earthquake association and location workflow. Without prior information, we automatically detect and locate more than twice as many earthquakes as the routine catalog. Our high‐precision earthquake catalog reveals detailed spatiotemporal evolution of the earthquake sequence and clearly defines multiple faults activated during the sequence. Our study demonstrates that it is possible to characterize earthquake sequences from raw seismic data using a well‐trained machine‐learning picker and our workflow.
