Magnesium‐ion batteries (MIB) have gradually attracted attention owing to their high theoretical capacity, high safety, and low cost. A bimetallic metal–organic framework self‐sacrificing template ...and a co‐assembly strategy are used to prepare a high‐performance, stable cycling NiSe2‐CoSe2@TiVCTx (NCSe@TiVC) heterostructure MIB cathode that can be used as a flexible integrated unit to power future self‐powered systems. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of TiVCTx MXene and NCSe, the NCSe@TiVC heterostructure electrode has a discharge‐specific capacity of 136 mAh g−1 at 0.05 A g−1 and high cycling stability of over 500 cycles; the assembled pouch‐cell device as flexible integrated unit exhibits good practicability. The magnesium ion storage mechanism is also validated using quantitative kinetic analysis, ex situ XRD, and XPS techniques. Density functional theory analysis indicates the most stable Mg‐atom adsorption sites in the heterostructure. This study broadens the possibilities for applying the TiVCTx MXene heterostructure to energy storage materials and future self‐powered flexible systems.
The 3D porous spherical structured NCSe/TiVC is built via a self‐sacrificing template co‐assembly strategy, in which the TiVCTx MXene exhibits the synergistic effect of enhancing the reaction kinetics. NCSe@TiVC‐MIB cathode can be used as a flexible integrated unit to power future self‐powered systems. This study broadens the possibilities for applying the TiVCTx MXene to energy storage materials and future self‐powered flexible systems.

Driven by the persisting poor understanding of the sluggish kinetics of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) on Pt in alkaline media, a direct correlation of the interfacial water structure and ...activity is still yet to be established. Herein, using Pt and Pt–Ni nanoparticles we first demonstrate a strong dependence of the proton donor structure on the HER activity and pH. The structure of the first layer changes from the proton acceptors to the donors with increasing pH. In the base, the reactivity of the interfacial water varied its structure, and the activation energies of water dissociation increased in the sequence: the dangling O−H bonds < the trihedrally coordinated water < the tetrahedrally coordinated water. Moreover, optimizing the adsorption of H and OH intermediates can re‐orientate the interfacial water molecules with their H atoms pointing towards the electrode surface, thereby enhancing the kinetics of HER. Our results clarified the dynamic role of the water structure at the electrode–electrolyte interface during HER and the design of highly efficient HER catalysts.

In crop plants, a high-density genetic linkage map is essential for both genetic and genomic researches. The complexity and the large size of wheat genome have hampered the acquisition of a ...high-resolution genetic map. In this study, we report a high-density genetic map based on an individual mapping population using the Affymetrix Wheat660K single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array as a probe in hexaploid wheat. The resultant genetic map consisted of 119 566 loci spanning 4424.4 cM, and 119 001 of those loci were SNP markers. This genetic map showed good collinearity with the 90 K and 820 K consensus genetic maps and was also in accordance with the recently released wheat whole genome assembly. The high-density wheat genetic map will provide a major resource for future genetic and genomic research in wheat. Moreover, a comparative genomics analysis among gramineous plant genomes was conducted based on the high-density wheat genetic map, providing an overview of the structural relationships among theses gramineous plant genomes. A major stable quantitative trait locus (QTL) for kernel number per spike was characterized, providing a solid foundation for the future high-resolution mapping and map-based cloning of the targeted QTL.

Impossible voltage plateau regulation for the cathode materials with fixed active elemental center is a pressing issue hindering the development of Na‐superionic‐conductor (NASICON)‐type ...Na3V2(PO4)2F3 (NVPF) cathodes in sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs). Herein, a high‐entropy substitution strategy, to alter the detailed crystal structure of NVPF without changing the central active V atom, is pioneeringly utilized, achieving simultaneous electronic conductivity enhancement and diffusion barrier reduction for Na+, according to theoretical calculations. The as‐prepared carbon‐free high‐entropy Na3V1.9(Ca,Mg,Al,Cr,Mn)0.1(PO4)2F3 (HE‐NVPF) cathode can deliver higher mean voltage of 3.81 V and more advantageous energy density up to 445.5 Wh kg−1, which is attributed by the diverse transition‐metal elemental substitution in high‐entropy crystalline. More importantly, high‐entropy introduction can help realize disordered rearrangement of Na+ at Na(2) active sites, thereby to refrain from unfavorable discharging behaviors at low‐voltage region, further lifting up the mean working voltage to realize a full Na‐ion storage at the high voltage plateau. Coupling with a hard carbon (HC) anode, HE‐NVPF//HC SIB full cells can deliver high specific energy density of 326.8 Wh kg−1 at 5 C with the power density of 2178.9 W kg−1. This route means the unlikely potential regulation in NASICON‐type crystal with unchangeable active center becomes possible, inspiring new ideas on elevating the mean working voltage for SIB cathodes.
A high‐entropy effect is delicately introduced into fluorophosphate cathode for sodium‐ion batteries by in situ partial substitution of active V central atom, preparing a high‐entropy carbon‐free Na3V1.9(Ca,Mg,Al,Cr,Mn)0.1(PO4)2F3 cathode, suppressing the occurrence of detrimental phase transition process in the low‐voltage region, and further lifting up the mean working voltage of pristine Na3V2(PO4)2F3, enhancing sodium storage behavior, rate capability, and cycle performance.

Quantum key distribution (QKD)1,2 offers a long-term solution to secure key exchange. Due to photon loss in transmission, it was believed that the repeaterless key rate is bounded by a linear ...function of the transmittance, O(η) (refs. 3,4), limiting the maximal secure transmission distance5,6. Recently, a novel type of QKD scheme has been shown to beat the linear bound and achieve a key rate performance of O(η) (refs. 7–9). Here, by employing the laser injection technique and the phase post-compensation method, we match the modes of two independent lasers and overcome the phase fluctuation. As a result, the key rate surpasses the linear bound via 302 km and 402 km commercial-fibre channels, over four orders of magnitude higher than existing results5. Furthermore, our system yields a secret key rate of 0.118 bps with a 502 km ultralow-loss fibre. This new type of QKD pushes forward long-distance quantum communication for the future quantum internet.Phase-matching quantum key distribution is implemented with a 502 km ultralow-loss optical fibre. The fluctuations of the laser initial phases and frequencies are suppressed by the laser injection technique and the phase post-compensation method.

Twin-field (TF) quantum key distribution (QKD) fundamentally alters the rate-distance relationship of QKD, offering the scaling of a single-node quantum repeater. Although recent experiments have ...demonstrated the new opportunities for secure long-distance communications allowed by TF-QKD, formidable challenges remain to unlock its true potential. Previous demonstrations have required intense stabilization signals at the same wavelength as the quantum signals, thereby unavoidably generating Rayleigh scattering noise that limits the distance and bit rate. Here, we introduce a dual-band stabilization scheme that overcomes past limitations and can be adapted to other phase-sensitive single-photon applications. Using two different optical wavelengths multiplexed together for channel stabilization and protocol encoding, we develop a setup that provides repeater-like key rates over communication distances of 555 km and 605 km in the finite-size and asymptotic regimes respectively and increases the secure key rate at long distance by two orders of magnitude to values of practical relevance.Twin-field quantum key distribution over 600 km is demonstrated. The key ingredient for success is the dual-band phase stabilization that dramatically reduce the phase fluctuations on optical fibre by more than four orders of magnitude.

With the features of multiple-components and targets as well as multifunction, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used in the prevention and treatment of various diseases for a long ...time. During the application of TCM, the researches about bioavailability enhancement of the bioactive constituents in formula are flourishing. Bushen-Yizhi formula (BSYZ), a TCM prescription with osthole (OST) as one of the main bioactive ingredients, have been widely used to treat kidney deficiency, mental retardation and Alzheimer's disease. However, the underlying biological mechanism and compound-enzyme interaction mediated bioavailability enhancement of OST are still not clearly illuminated.
The aim of this study is to explore the material basis and molecular mechanism from BSYZ in the bioavailability enhancement of OST. Screening the potential CYP3A4 inhibitors using theoretical prediction and then verifying them in vitro, and pharmacokinetics study of OST in rat plasma under co-administrated of screened CYP3A4 inhibitors and BSYZ were also scarcely reported.
Screening of CYP3A4 inhibitors from BSYZ was performed with molecular docking simulation from systems pharmacology database. The screened compounds were verified by using P450-Glo Screening Systems. A multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mass spectrometry method was established for OST quantification. Male Sprague-Dawley rats divided into four groups and six rats in each group were employed in the pharmacokinetics study of OST. The administrated conditions were group I, OST (20 mg/kg); group II, BSYZ (containing OST 1 mg/mL, at the dose of 20 mg/kg OST in BSYZ); group III, co-administration of ketoconazole (Ket, 75 mg/kg) and OST (20 mg/kg); group IV, co-administration of CYP3A4 inhibitor (10 mg/kg) and OST (20 mg/kg). They were determined by using HPLC-MS/MS (MRM) and statistical analysis was performed using student’s t-test with p < 0.05 as the level of significance.
21 potential CYP3A4 inhibitors were screened from BSYZ compounds library. From the results of verification in vitro, we found 4 compounds with better CYP3A4 inhibition efficiency including Oleic acid, 1,2,3,4,6-O-Pentagalloylglucose, Rutin, and Schisantherin B. Under further verification, Schisantherin B exhibited the best inhibitory effect on CYP3A4 (IC50 = 0.339 μM), and even better than the clinically used drug (Ket) at the concentration of 5 μM. In the study of pharmacokinetics, the area under the curve (AUC, ng/L*h) of OST after oral administration of BSYZ, Ket and Schisantherin B (2196.23 ± 581.33, 462.90 ± 92.30 and 1053.03 ± 263.62, respectively) were significantly higher than that of pure OST treatment (227.89 ± 107.90, p < 0.01).
Schisantherin B, a profoundly effective CYP3A4 inhibitor screened from BSYZ antagonized the metabolism of CYP3A4 on OST via activity inhibition, therefore significantly enhanced the bioavailability of OST in rat plasma. The results of this study will be helpful to explain the rationality of the compatibility in TCM formula, and also to develop new TCM formula with more reasonable drug compatibility.

The rapid developments of the Internet of Things (IoT) and portable electronic devices have created a growing demand for flexible electrochemical energy storage (EES) devices. Nevertheless, these ...flexible devices suffer from poor flexibility, low energy density, and poor dynamic stability of power output during deformation, limiting their practical applications. Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) with high conductivity, good flexibility, and large‐scale preparation are regarded as promising electrodes for flexible EES devices. Based on the issues of current flexible EES devices, this review presents various strategies from the design of CNFs‐based electrodes to the fabrication of devices and overviews their applications in various flexible metal ion/air batteries (Li/Na/K‐ion batteries, Li‐S batteries, metal–air batteries, and other novel secondary batteries) and supercapacitors. Finally, the remaining challenges and perspectives on the CNFs‐based flexible EES devices are proposed to provide guidance for the researchers concentrating on high‐performance flexible EES devices.
Flexible electrochemical energy storage (EES) devices is currently a research hotspot in the field of energy storage. This review indicates the existing issues of flexible EES devices and proposes various effective solution strategies from CNFs‐based electrodes to devices and the corresponding development in flexible EES devices, aiming to provide important guidance for designing high‐performance flexible EES devices.

Recently, Ruddlesden–Popper perovskites (RPPs) have attracted increasing interests due to their promising stability. However, the efficiency of solar cells based on RPPs is much lower than that based ...on 3D perovskites, mainly attributed to their poor charge transport. Herein, a simple yet universal method for controlling the quality of RPP films by a synergistic effect of two additives in the precursor solution is presented. RPP films achieved by this method show (a) high quality with uniform morphology, enhanced crystallinity, and reduced density of sub‐bandgap states, (b) vertically oriented perovskite frameworks that facilitate efficient charge transport, and (c) type‐II band alignment that favors self‐driven charge separation. Consequently, a hysteresis‐free RPP solar cell with a power conversion efficiency exceeding 12%, which is much higher than that of the control device (1.5%), is achieved. The findings will spur new developments in the fabrication of high‐quality, aligned, and graded RPP films essential for realizing efficient and stable perovskite solar cells.
A simple and universal method involving the use of two synergistic additives (dimethylsulfoxide and methylammonium chloride) into precursor solution is reported for growing high‐quality Ruddlesden–Popper perovskite films. Based on this method, hysteresis‐free solar cells with power conversion efficiencies over 12% and excellent reproducibility are achieved.
