It is highly desirable to develop low-cost and high-efficient non-precious electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in attempt to replace the expensive Pt based catalysts for fuel cells ...and metal-air batteries. Herein, a novel, facile and cost-effective strategy is reported to in situ synthesize isolated single iron (Fe) atoms anchored on nitrogen doped carbon (Fe-ISA/NC) with renewable Auricularia auricular-judae as the biomass precursor. The best performing Fe-ISA/NC exhibits high specific surface area of 1107 m2 g−1 and excellent activities for ORR in 0.1 M KOH, in terms of an onset potential of 1.0 V vs. RHE and a half-wave potential of 0.89 V vs. RHE, surpassing that of Pt/C and most reported non-precious metal catalysts. Furthermore, superior methanol tolerance and outstanding stability are observed. X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis and density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the Fe-N4 moieties together with pyrrolic-N are responsible for the enhanced catalytic performance for ORR.

Slope stability prediction plays a significant role in landslide disaster prevention and mitigation. This study develops an ensemble learning-based method to predict the slope stability by ...introducing the random forest (RF) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost). As an illustration, the proposed approach is applied to the stability prediction of 786 landslide cases in Yunyang County, Chongqing, China. For comparison, the predictive performance of RF, XGBoost, support vector machine (SVM), and logistic regression (LR) is systematically investigated based on the well-established confusion matrix, which contains the known indices of recall rate, precision, and accuracy. Furthermore, the feature importance of the 12 influencing variables is also explored. Results show that the accuracy of the XGBoost and RF for both the training and testing data is superior to that of SVM and LR, revealing the superiority of the ensemble learning models (i.e. XGBoost and RF) in the slope stability prediction of Yunyang County. Among the 12 influencing factors, the profile shape is the most important one. The proposed ensemble learning-based method offers a promising way to rationally capture the slope status. It can be extended to the prediction of slope stability of other landslide-prone areas of interest.

Abstract
Background
Adding radiotherapy (RT) to systemic therapy improves progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Whether ...these findings translate to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)–mutated NSCLC remains unknown. The SINDAS trial (NCT02893332) evaluated first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy for EGFR-mutated synchronous oligometastatic NSCLC and randomized to upfront RT vs no RT; we now report the prespecified interim analysis at 68% accrual.
Methods
Inclusion criteria were biopsy-proven EGFR-mutated adenocarcinoma (per amplification refractory mutation system or next generation sequencing), with synchronous (newly diagnosed, treatment naïve) oligometastatic (≤5 metastases; ≤2 lesions in any one organ) NSCLC without brain metastases. All patients received a first-generation TKI (gefitinib, erlotinib, or icotinib), and randomization was between no RT vs RT (25-40 Gy in 5 fractions depending on tumor size and location) to all metastases and the primary tumor/involved regional lymphatics. The primary endpoint (intention to treat) was PFS. Secondary endpoints included OS and toxicities. All statistical tests were 2-sided.
Results
A total of 133 patients (n = 65 TKI only, n = 68 TKI with RT) were enrolled (2016-2019). The median follow-up was 23.6 months. The respective median PFS was 12.5 months vs 20.2 months (P < .001), and the median OS was 17.4 months vs 25.5 months (P < .001) for TKI only vs TKI with RT. Treatment yielded no grade 5 events and a 6% rate of symptomatic grade 3-4 pneumonitis in the TKI with RT arm. Based on the efficacy results of this prespecified interim analysis, the ethics committee recommended premature cessation of this trial.
Conclusions
As compared with a first-line TKI alone, addition of upfront local therapy using RT statistically significantly improved PFS and OS for EGFR-mutated NSCLC.
China is one of the countries with the highest incidence of gastric cancer. There are differences in epidemiological characteristics, clinicopathological features, tumor biological characteristics, ...treatment patterns, and drug selection between gastric cancer patients from the Eastern and Western countries. Non‐Chinese guidelines cannot specifically reflect the diagnosis and treatment characteristics for the Chinese gastric cancer patients. The Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) arranged for a panel of senior experts specializing in all sub‐specialties of gastric cancer to compile, discuss, and revise the guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer based on the findings of evidence‐based medicine in China and abroad. By referring to the opinions of industry experts, taking into account of regional differences, giving full consideration to the accessibility of diagnosis and treatment resources, these experts have conducted experts’ consensus judgement on relevant evidence and made various grades of recommendations for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer to reflect the value of cancer treatment and meeting health economic indexes. This guideline uses tables and is complemented by explanatory and descriptive notes covering the diagnosis, comprehensive treatment, and follow‐up visits for gastric cancer.

Plasmon-mediated photocatalytic water splitting has attracted extensive attention due to its bright future in using visible light, but the enhancement mechanism is still unclear, and the efficiency ...remains low. Herein, a dual-plasmonic-antenna strategy that allows efficient generation of energetic hot electrons and strong electromagnetic fields simultaneously has been developed to boost the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Au@CdS core–shell nanoparticles are assembled on Ag@SiO2 shell-isolated nanoparticles, forming dual-plasmonic-antenna nanocomposites. Transient absorption spectroscopic experiments and electromagnetic field simulations demonstrate that both hot-electron transfer and plasmon-induced resonance energy transfer exist in this system. The Au@CdS antenna can generate energetic hot electrons to trigger the HER, while the Ag@SiO2 antenna produces strong electromagnetic fields to promote the generation and separation of hot carriers, thus significantly improving the HER performance under visible light irradiation. Such a dual-plasmonic-antenna concept overcomes the intrinsic limitation of traditional plasmonic photocatalytic materials and offers unique opportunities to develop efficient photocatalysts.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as critical regulators in various cellular processes. However, the potential involvement of lncRNAs in kinase signalling remains largely unknown. ...AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) acts as a critical sensor of cellular energy status. Here we show that the lncRNA NBR2 (neighbour of BRCA1 gene 2) is induced by the LKB1-AMPK pathway under energy stress. On energy stress, NBR2 in turn interacts with AMPK and promotes AMPK kinase activity, thus forming a feed-forward loop to potentiate AMPK activation during energy stress. Depletion of NBR2 attenuates energy-stress-induced AMPK activation, resulting in unchecked cell cycling, altered apoptosis/autophagy response, and increased tumour development in vivo. NBR2 is downregulated and its low expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes in some human cancers. Together, the results of our study uncover a mechanism coupling lncRNAs with metabolic stress response, and provides a broad framework to understand further the regulation of kinase signalling by lncRNAs.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is a major histological type of esophageal cancer, with distinct incidence and survival patterns among races. Although previous studies have characterized somatic ...mutations in this disease, a rigorous comparison between different patient populations has not been conducted. Here we sequence the samples of 316 Chinese patients, combine them with those from The Cancer Genome Atlas, and perform a comparative analysis between Asian and Caucasian patients. We find that mutated CSMD3 is associated with better prognosis in Asian patients. Applying a robust computational strategy that adjusts for both technical and biological confounding factors, we find that TP53, EP300, and NFE2L2 show higher mutational frequencies in Asian patients. Moreover, NFE2L2 mutations correlate with the allele status of a nearby high-Fst SNP, suggesting their potential interaction. Our study provides insights into the molecular basis underlying the striking racial disparities of this disease, and represents a general computational framework for such a cross-population comparison.
To describe how mental health and sleep status influence the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) during the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) ...pandemic, and to apply targeted interventions to improve the HRQOL.
A web-based online questionnaire survey was administered. Descriptive analysis was used to depict the mental health and sleep status. Correlation analysis and the structural equation model (SEM) method were used to analyze the influence of mental health and sleep status on HRQOL in PLWHA.
After excluding 24 unqualified questionnaires, a total of 490 participants in this survey were included in the statistical analysis. Of the participants, 66.1% and 55.1% reported mild or worse symptoms of depression and anxiety, respectively. Overall, 70.0% had varying degrees of sleep problems. Correlation analysis showed that anxiety had the strongest correlation with sleep disturbances and sleep quality (R = 0.588 and 0.551, respectively), while depression had the strongest correlation with the HRQOL psychological and physical domains (R = - 0.759 and - 0.682, respectively). SEM analysis showed that depression, sleep quality, and psychological domains had the greatest item load on mental health, sleep status, and HRQOL (093, 0.82, and 0.89, respectively). Mental health had a more significant influence than sleep status on HRQOL, as indicated by factor loading (- 0.75 and - 0.15, respectively).
There were more severe mental health and sleep problems among PLWHA during the COVID-19 pandemic, thus, mental health intervention, especially to relieve depression symptoms, may be the most important approach to improve the HRQOL among PLWHA.

Recently, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to have important regulatory roles in human cancer biology. In our study, we found that lncRNA CCAT1, whose expression is significantly ...increased and is correlated with outcomes in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC). Consecutive experiments confirmed that H3K27-acetylation could activate expression of colon cancer associated transcript-1 (CCAT1). Further experiments revealed that CCAT1 knockdown significantly repressed the proliferation and migration both in vitro and in vivo. RNA-seq analysis revealed that CCAT1 knockdown preferentially affected genes that are linked to cell proliferation, cell migration and cell adhesion. Mechanistic investigations found that CCAT1 could serve as a scaffold for two distinct epigenetic modification complexes (5΄ domain of CCAT1 binding Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2) while 3΄ domain of CCAT1 binding SUV39H1) and modulate the histone methylation of promoter of SPRY4 (sprouty RTK signaling antagonist 4) in nucleus. In cytoplasm, CCAT1 regulates HOXB13 as a molecular decoy for miR-7, a microRNA that targets both CCAT1 and HOXB13, thus facilitating cell growth and migration. Together, our data demonstrated the important roles of CCAT1 in ESCC oncogenesis and might serve as targets for ESCC diagnosis and therapy.
