Brain function can be best studied by simultaneous measurements and modulation of the multifaceted signaling at the cellular scale. Extensive efforts have been made to develop multifunctional neural ...probes, typically involving highly specialized fabrication processes. Here, we report a novel multifunctional neural probe platform realized by applying ultrathin nanoelectronic coating (NEC) on the surfaces of conventional microscale devices such as optical fibers and micropipettes. We fabricated the NECs by planar photolithography techniques using a substrate-less and multilayer design, which host arrays of individually addressed electrodes with an overall thickness below 1 μm. Guided by an analytic model and taking advantage of the surface tension, we precisely aligned and coated the NEC devices on the surfaces of these conventional microprobes and enabled electrical recording capabilities on par with the state-of-the-art neural electrodes. We further demonstrated optogenetic stimulation and controlled drug infusion with simultaneous, spatially resolved neural recording in a rodent model. This study provides a low-cost, versatile approach to construct multifunctional neural probes that can be applied to both fundamental and translational neuroscience.

Objective. Implanted microelectrodes provide a unique means to directly interface with the nervous system but have been limited by the lack of stable functionality. There is growing evidence ...suggesting that substantially reducing the mechanical rigidity of neural electrodes promotes tissue compatibility and improves their recording stability in both the short- and long-term. However, the miniaturized dimensions and ultraflexibility desired for mitigating tissue responses preclude the probe's self-supported penetration into the brain tissue. Approach. Here we demonstrate the high-throughput implantation of multi-shank ultraflexible neural electrode arrays with surgical footprints as small as 200 µm2 in a mouse model. This is achieved by using arrays of tungsten microwires as shuttle devices, and bio-dissolvable adhesive polyethylene glycol (PEG) to temporarily attach a shank onto each microwire. Main results. We show the ability to simultaneously deliver electrode arrays in designed patterns, to adjust the implantation locations of the shanks by need, to target different brain structures, and to control the surgical injury by reducing the microwire diameters to cellular scale. Significance. These results provide a facile implantation method to apply ultraflexible neural probes in scalable neural recording.
Implanted brain electrodes construct the only means to electrically interface with individual neurons in vivo, but their recording efficacy and biocompatibility pose limitations on scientific and ...clinical applications. We showed that nanoelectronic thread (NET) electrodes with subcellular dimensions, ultraflexibility, and cellular surgical footprints form reliable, glial scar-free neural integration. We demonstrated that NET electrodes reliably detected and tracked individual units for months; their impedance, noise level, single-unit recording yield, and the signal amplitude remained stable during long-term implantation. In vivo two-photon imaging and postmortem histological analysis revealed seamless, subcellular integration of NET probes with the local cellular and vasculature networks, featuring fully recovered capillaries with an intact blood-brain barrier and complete absence of chronic neuronal degradation and glial scar.
Human posture estimation is a crucial topic in the computer vision field and has become a hotspot for research in many human behaviors related work. Human pose estimation can be understood as the ...human key point recognition and connection problem. The paper presents an optimized symmetric spatial transformation network designed to connect with single-person pose estimation network to propose high-quality human target frames from inaccurate human bounding boxes, and introduces parametric pose non-maximal suppression to eliminate redundant pose estimation, and applies an elimination rule to eliminate similar pose to obtain unique human pose estimation results. The exploratory outcomes demonstrate the way that the proposed technique can precisely recognize the human central issues, really work on the exactness of human posture assessment, and can adjust to the intricate scenes with thick individuals and impediment. Finally, the difficulties and possible future trends are described, and the development of the field is presented.

Upland buzzard (Buteo hemilasius), Saker falcon (Falco cherrug), and Himalayan vulture (Gyps himalayensis) are three common large raptors in the Sanjiangyuan National Park (SNP), China's first ...national park. Among them, Upland buzzard and Saker falcon play a significant role in controlling plateau rodent populations and reducing the transmission of pathogens carried by rodents. The Himalayan vulture can provide services for the redistribution and recycling of nutrients in the ecosystem, and play an irreplaceable role in the celestial burial culture of Tibetans in China. Exploring their habitat suitability is important for the protection of the three raptors. Our research was based on the current distribution of Upland buzzard, Saker falcon, and Himalayan vulture that we had extensively surveyed in the Sanjiangyuan National Park from 2016 to 2017. Combined with the correlation analysis of environmental variables, we utilized maximum entropy model (MaxEnt) to evaluate and compare the habitat suitability of the three species in the Sanjiangyuan National Park. Elevation, climate, and human disturbance factors, which had direct or indirect effects on species survival and reproduction, were all included in the model. Among them, elevation was the most important environmental variables affecting the suitability of habitats of three species. Temperature‐related factor was another important predictor. The high (>60%) suitable habitat areas for Upland buzzard, Saker falcon, and Himalayan vulture were 73,017.63, 40,732.78, and 61,654.33 km2, respectively, accounted for 59.32%, 33.09%, and 50.08% of the Sanjiangyuan National Park and their total suitable area (i.e., the sum area of high and moderate habitats) reached 96.07%, 60.59%, and 93.70%, respectively. Besides, the three species have overlapping areas for the suitable habitats, which means that overlapping areas should be highly valued and protected. Therefore, understanding the distribution of suitable habitats of the three raptors can provide useful information and reasonable reference for us to put forward suggestions for their protection and regional management.
This study used the maxent model to assess the habitat suitability of Upland buzzard, Saker falcon, and Himalayan vulture in Sanjiangyuan National Park, China (China's first national park). This research might provide a scientific basis for the conservation and management of species in Sanjiangyuan National Park, while raptors as umbrella species can benefit other species when they are protected and concerned.
